Hi, I'm emo. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
i think a black gay guy should start a political hardcore band and call it Black Fag. that would be cool. Yeah, but name doens't always make them tough. I mean Black Flag lived up to it's name and ten times more than it as well, but Motley Crue and Guns n' Roses are just flat out hair metal sissies. Slayer, Black Flag, Samhain, the Damned all live up to their ominous and menacing names perfectly. But bands like Venom and Poison only leave me feeling like it was corny and staged, more focused on the stage props than the performance. I saw Black Flag blow Venom into extinction at one of the rare shows where Black Flag played with them. It was hilarious, Rollins was prancing around in between songs in his black shorts yelling "Hail Satan!", they made Venom look like what they were.....cardboard cutouts. Anyway, I know this comment is completely irrelevent, but it just goes to show you that sometimes bands mean what they say and others don't. Worst band name...ever. What happened to all the bands having tough names like "Black Flag", "Guns n Roses", "Slayer" or even "Motley Crue"? This wimpy band name nonsense has to stop. The singer is such a FAT UGLY FUCK. emo is not the way. it will pass like a bad stomach flu. This conversation is getting stupid. Please try to think about what you are saying before you comment on this board. hell yes i just saw onelinedrawing tonite with thursday and he was fantastic. that guy has a great voice life, and his songs had some character. they weren't all one-dimensional crap like so many out there. "if you take an honest look at your punk collection, then you'll find out that maybe 80% of all the songs are about girls, relationships gone sour" You all can go to hell, if you want good acoustic music, buy Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds' LIVE AT LUTHER COLLEGE. onelinedrawing rules AMENDED VERSION: "then you'll find out that maybe 80% of all the songs are about girls, relationships gone sour and - as a result of the above - about being alone. Ok, yes, I think we have established that there have been a LOT of acoustic acts that have come before Dashboard and Lyndsay Diaries... obviously, acoustic guitars were around before electric guitars, so, yes, rocket-scientists, there have been a lot of acoustic acts that came before Dashboard or anything else from the nineties, for that matter. Acoustic guitar acts are not some new "novel" idea, I think that is established. Doy. i call this emo fag rock. im pretty gay myself.. but seriously- this might be as whiney wimpy and gayboy as it gets. I just wanted to remind you that The Violent Femmes did the whole punk goes acoustic thing before Greg of B&R did. God, the name of this band is soooo emo. They are written off. "What the hell is Lyndsay?" I just wanted to remind everyone that Greg Graffin of Bad Religion did the whole punk goes acoustic thing long before Dashboard decided to rape little girls and make bad music What the hell is Lyndsay? haven't heard this cd but his old stuff is awful so it would take him getting super good in the last however long for this release to be half good i highly doubt that happened I'd say that the majority of pop music, regardless of genre, revolves around the theme of girls, lonliness, etc. "insert bitchy comment here" in your review you complain that there is a song on this album about being alone and how sick you are of that kinda stuff...question for you: is that only in emo music? Cuz if you take an honest look at your punk collection, then you'll find out that maybe 80% of all the songs are about girls, relationships gone sour and - as a result of the above - about being alone. To crazyjeb-- Sure it does have that look at me, another acoustic project feel about it. The lyrics suck, Scott's voice sucks, the songs suck, um what else. They don't work out too well live. People boo him off the stage. It's just college radio crap. dashboard is good, lyndsay is not...Scott Windsor isn't fit to spit-shine Chris' shoes. The artwork is impressive though...-bigjerk The artwork is cool. But if this sounds anything like Dashboar Confessional then I'm out. I'm sick of that whinney shit. What is with this "diaries" crap. These guys need to grow brains and balls. Dashboard this, Dashboard that. Heaven forbid an acoustic project try to make it in this world without being compared to the ever-godlike stylings of Chris Carraba. People were playing acoustics long before he ever came about. Scott puts out a solid CD...the songs aren't all catchy gems for 12 year olds to swallow up and tell all their friends about but that's simply his song writing style as reflected in his first CD. It's more original, it's a new sound, and it doesn't have "Look at me look at me, I'm like every other acoustic project in the world" written all over it. This CD does suck. |
