Thirty-Two Frames (2002)

Revelation

This band is ex-Elliott, By The Grace of God, Five Times Fast, XinvictusX, Warcry, Enkindel, Flight 19, Automatic, and Empathy.

What does all that mean? It means these guys are A)old, B)probably jaded, and C)been around the Louisville, KY scene for as long as anyone can remember.

I was most excited about this release as it was Jay Palumbo of Elliott's return to the rock, as it were, as the lead singer. Too bad this band sounds absolutely nothing like Elliott. This EP is 8 songs of boring skate-hardcore, akin to Automatic, Enkindel, or... well, most every other band I listed above besides Elliott. The CD's layout is bad, the lyrics are too vague to be political [which seems to be the band's slant], and the music has been presented in different forms hundreds of times, especially by these guys' old bands. The 6th track is the most confusing, containing the track "Thanksgiving" [as listed on the case], as well as an unlisted Tom Petty cover song, as well as another unlisted original song [which is actually pretty good] called "...And If You Say Nothing," whose lyrics are printed in the booklet, but apparently the song isn't worthy of it's own track number. I don't quite get it, but it's annoying as all hell, as it really *is* the best song on this EP.

I really don't see any reason to buy this album, unless you're a completist that follows every movement of the storied Louisville hardcore scene. Otherwise, pass. Odds are you already own this CD under a different band name.
