Epitaph Records -- Millencolin

I went to this show most anxious to see Planes Mistaken for Stars. I have all of their releases and think they deserve more credit than they've received so far. When we got to the show, my friend Simon and I immediately approached the merch booth and talked to Planes. They were great guys. I think they were surprised anyone knew what they looked like and had seen em and shit. Word.

Planes took the stage and tore it apart. They rocked all the badass songs from their albums, including "Bastards," a song from the new ep. Totally killer. It was cool being able to see their drummer this time around.

From Autumn to Ashes came on, and we watched a song, and decided they sucked. We decided to go smoke weed with Planes, so we went backstage with em. Seriously, I thought they were satanic and all this, but they are great guys. We got so high, it was a blast. The rest of FATA's set sucked. Their drummer sang some songs, but he had a fucking horrible voice. I can't bellieve people are so into this band. I guess it's their emo bandname that fits in so well these days. Pussies. Fuck you all.

Next was onelinedrawing, aka a good Chris Carraba with an electric guitar and an R2D2 that played taped beats. This guy was badass and looks like Ben Stiller. Great voice, great set.

Thursday took stage and of course the place went nuts immediately. All the while, I was thinking, these people should have been doing this for Planes. Anyways. Thursday rocked it as usual. I've seen em six times now, and it was a little disappointig that in the past year and a half, they've added one song to their repetoire. Steve had a Cursive shirt on, though. That was cool.

That was my show experience. Pretty fun, and a LOT of hot girls.

You're a bunch of fucking idiots. Theres no such thing as a non one-sided review.

I bet if he wrote a review on how badass FATA is and how hot their tight black clothes, gauged ears, and studded belts looked, you would love him for it.

Some of these comments by you people make me want to go to a FATA show just to do some round house kicks and kick some of your fuckers faces in. Oooh yea... i think they play Milwaukee on Saturday, I might have to go. MALLCORE KIDS BEWARE.

PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS OWNS YOU BITCH!

Also, please do not call FATA hardcore you fucking teenybopper posers. How about emo-pussy scream-shit-rock? That sounds good to me.

I'm going to do a line of coke now. See you on Saturday fuckers.

actually i think more people like planes cuz they are "scary" and not like the rest of the momma's boys in punk and hardcore bands these days.

PMFS was by far the best band on that show.

All you kids who just got into the scene about 3 weeks ago need to grab PMFS' first two records on Deep Elm to see where all these new school poser bands are ripping off their sound from.

And the reviewer had it right the first time. PMFS = Satan. You put all the bands on this tour in a room together for a month without food, PMFS will walk out with a big bag of bones.

    My Score:

I think that what we have here is a classic case of someone "liking" a boring and sucky band like Planes Mistaken for Stars simply for those reasons: that they are boring and suck. Kids say that said band is progressive and interesting and that they "rock", when in fact the only reason that they pretend to like them is because noone else will ever like them and the band will therefore stay "underground." Making anyone who likes the sucky band who doesn't get popular cool, and anyone who actually has good taste in music and likes equally good bands (who often get popular because they are good)is a poser and a loser because other kids actually found out how good a certain band is and the band isn't as underground now as they used to be. Some bands, like Planes Mistaken for Stars, never blow up for a reason: they fucking suck.

answer me this, (i saw this show in pitt) why is it that pmfs can come out looking more like a metal band than anything else (i.e. the lead singers long hair, the drummers braided beard, and no shirts) tell the tech guy to use all the lights and smoke and shit, and completely rock and everyone stands around with their fingers in their asses..... BUT... when fata comes out (i like them too i honestly do) looking all prettied up like they always do (seen 'em 3 times and they always have nice sideburns and the one guy has the vintage denim jean jackets that match the jeans) and play some hardcore stuff that people are like flipping out for, then have these slow ass breakdowns... people continue to dance through,HOW CAN YOU DANCE THROUGH A FATA BREAKDOWN i don't understand it

I GOT THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF FATA - CLEANCORE... honestly, anyone whos seen them live can't say otherwise

    My Score:

Planes Mistaken for Stars... yeah they sucked. What a joke. I was prepared to leave when their fat-ass drummer peeled off his shirt, and then they began to sing a song about fucking. They continued playing while bunching together in a big group as I was convinced they were fucking eachother. But luckily my mind wasn't totally scarred for at that point From Autumn to Ashes came on and changed my perspective of what was beginning to be a shitty show. It continued on to be a great show, as Thursday, naturally, rocked.

I would personally like to cyber-shake this guy's hand. PMFS is completely underrated. Through multiple aggresively innovative releases, they still opened up for a local band in STL. Lame.

While the guys from Thursday are occupying the stalls to throw up their pizza in effort to save their girlish figures, PMFS are hunting down Carson Daly, screwing chicks, killing cats and playing circles around FATA.

onelinedrawing... eh, we all have our guilty pleasures. R2D2, don't front.

You're all entitled to your opinions, but what's the point in saying "they rulled, they sucked, he was cool, they were okay"? You're saying nothing about the fucking show at all, it's almost like you just wanted to jump in and write something before anyone else just to say you did.

I personally like all of these bands though, and I really don't understand all this animosity towards FATA. I saw them open for Shai Hulud a while back and will be seeing them again in December most anxiously. They put on a great show with a lot of energy and do a great job melding together varuious forms of metal. Just because you don't like metal (which you obviously don't) doesn't mean a band sucks. And don't go yelling at me that FATA aren't metal - I know they're not a metal band, but they do blend (and very well, by the way) bits of black and death metal with hardcore (and nice melodic breakdowns) very nicely.

I'm really pissed we didn't get a lineup like this in Hollywood - Although Thrusday with Cursive and Poison the Well was really badass.

Jonah also varies at his styles unlike every song sounding almost the same. I think Chris is a good artist, but I think that Jonah is 100000X's better.

If you watched his stage show it is also incredible. He is a very moving person, and he knows how to work a crowd, from past experiences in his bands, New End Original, and Far.

So pay attention if you plan on doing a review on someone, people actually read these things and you dont want to give them the wrong impression.
