Although I’m sure the comments board will fill up with opinions about the movie, I am going to just stick to reviewing the soundtrack. I suppose I’ll do this track by track.

“Corona”- Minutemen: an appropriate start to the CD is the Jackass theme song, which is by the early 80’s punk band. Honestly, I haven’t heard much else by them, but I think I may start to educate myself on them.

“We Want Fun”- Andrew W.K.: This song is great. If you’ve heard any other AWK songs, you can take a guess at what this one sounds like, but it’s still great. I can’t get enough of the part at the end where he shreeks something like “What do we want?! We know what we want!!” A sidenote: I dressed up as him for Halloween.

“Flesh into Gear”- CKY: Well, this song isn’t anything special. Metal-ish rock, with a keyboard part that just doesn’t fit. Ah well, but if it wasn’t for them we probably wouldn’t have Jackass or this movie, so I guess I’ll give it a chance. For those of you who don’t know, Bam Magera made a skate/prank/stunt video called CKY (Landspeed), to promote CKY, because the drummer is his cousin or something. So this video spawned two more videos and Jackass. What else did Johnny Knoxville do before Jackass besides stuff for the Big Brother videos? Anybody who knows, comment below. Sorry, stream of consciousness thing goin’ on there.

Next is “Somebody’s Gonna Get their Head Kicked in Tonight” by the Rezillos. This song by this late 70’s British punk band has snotty, snarled vocals over a frenetic blues-inspired punk progression. According to the liner notes, they wanted to use the Dead Kennedys “Too Drunk to Fuck” for the golf cart scene, but were unable to for some reason or another. It would have been nice to have that song on here, but this one’s pretty good to replace it, and it’s kind of in the same style.

“California Sun”- The Ramones: Can’t go wrong with the Ramones. I’m pretty sure this is a cover, and I thought it was a Beach Boys song. But after some searching online, it doesn’t seem to be. Not sure who did the original, but I do know the Ramones version is good stuff.

“Alright, Alright (Here’s my Fist, Where’s the Fight?)”- Sahara Hotnights: This song is pretty sweet, think a girl version of the Hives. But not with those annoying girl vocals everyone hates- y’know what I’m talkin’ about. Girl vocals usually don’t work real well in high energy stuff, but here they do. This song will have you screamin’ “Alright, alright!” in no time, and I love the high-speed tambourine in the chorus.

“Let’s Get Fucked Up”- The Smut Peddlers: apparently this is another band that is on here because the Jackass crew knows them. This song isn’t too bad, and it definitely fits the Jackass theme. Screamed (definitly not sung) lyrics over driving punk, and note the use of cowbell!

“Hybrid Moments”- The Misfits: You can’t have a skate-video inspired movie without including the Misfits in some way. Not my favorite by them, but a good song.

“Cha Cha Twist”- Detroit Cobras: and oldie done in a gritty garage punk way, with female vocals. This is a current band, but they make it sound vintage. This song isn’t anything exciting to me, but I’ll have to listen to a couple more of their covers (that’s all they do) to decide on these guys.

“Angel of Death”-Slayer: I’m not into Slayer, but speed metal is a must-have for skate video slam-sections, as well as Jackass type stunts.

“Baby Got Back”- Sir Mix-a-lot: We all know this one. Definitely a change of pace to the CD.

“If You’re Gonna Be Dumb”-Roger Alan Wade: You know this one if are a Jackass fan. Perfect lyrics for any jackass- “If you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough. When you get knocked down, you gotta get back up.” Country-ish stuff by another guy who apparently knows someone from the jackass bunch. Right after this song, they include the Party Boy song for you to get jiggy to in your thong.

The CD also has Andrew W.K.’s jackass-themed “We Want Fun” video if you pop it in your computer, thought the quality is kinda crummy. There is also a bonus disc, a DVD that has a couple trailers and some other short clips, the Andrew W.K. “She is Beautiful” and CKY “Flesh into Gear” videos, and a funny “Party Boy Japan” video. I think they could have fit more stuff onto a whole second disc, but it’s still cool to have extras.

Not a bad soundtrack overall. If you’re going to pick it up anyway, do it soon because I hear that the DVD is only included with a limited number of copies.

I love the Jackass movies and the TV show... this is just a realllly good CD I love it. And to all you fags who say it sucks, screw off. If you don't like it, shut your f-ckin' mouth.

By the way, you're pretty good at writing reviews I think. Just my opinion....

MTV sometimes lets a slightly independent spirit shine through. They could've filled this soundtrack with nu-metal to further target the teenage and twenty something boys this movie targets...instead, they let the Jackass guys put out something interesting.

    Dictionary definition:

    red·neck ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rdnk)
    n. Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.
A white person regarded as having a provincial, conservative, often bigoted attitude.

So yes, the word is often associated with bigotry. However, the choice of a disparaging term to refer to another person indicates some measure of bigotry on the part of the person using the word.

    My Score:

Redneck is a term given to someone who is racist, fat, complains about other people when they themselves are peices of shit, uses "nigger" and "beaner" as constant terms in their language. I've seen that most rednecks are republican (I'm not trying to generalize, this is just what I have seen) and we have a redneck in the white house!!!! That's why the are ALL bigots, because redneck is just another word for BIGOT!

Football is lightweight...Gladiotorial competitions would be badass. Imagine seeing two guys who volunteered kill eachother! I wouldn't do it. But I bet many people would. It would still probably have a lot of stupid, fat, beer drinking redneck peice of shit followers, but atleast it would be more "badass" than football.

the rezillos song and "too drunk to fuck" are not the same style, seeing as how one glorifies drunken violence while the other satirizes it. anyhow, it looks fairly boring as an album, but rather exceptional as a soundtrack. you'd pretty much expect these songs on a movie by the jackass... chaps. at least its better than the road rules soundtrack mtv put out. fucking kids and their soundtracks. easy way to make a buck i guess. -seek

Thye play Black Flag's "Drinking & Driving" in the movie, but it's not on the soudtrack. It's funny, they list the song credited to Greg Ginn & Henry Garfeild. That song kicks ass, and I just found out that Henry actually wrote that one. Anyway, this soundtrack is good, but a waste of my money, considering I already have most of the songs.
