Garage Rock has seen a huge increase in popularity in the last year with the success of groups like The Hives and The Strokes, as well as many others. Following in on this trend are Los Angeles’ The Superbees. They play an energetic brand of garage rock that sounds like it was heavily influenced by the MC5, the Stooges, and the Rolling Stones. Many of the songs sound a lot like Wayne Kramer’s later solo work, especially “Do You Understand”.

The album starts out with a catchy guitar intro followed by a scream and the rock begins with “Really Wanna Know” which is about playing live and inviting the listener to see them live, and from what I’ve heard they put on a great live show. Other good songs include “Girl From K.C.” “Got This Feeling”, both very catchy and driving numbers. Some guest vocals are provided by Sonny Vincent on “Loose” and “Glue Sniffer” and K.Q. Van Winkl (MC5/Bob Seger) plays the B3 organ on “Crawler”, a creepy number with a cool guitar line, and “Do You Understand”.

While this band really doesn’t bring anything new to the table, as there are probably hundreds of bands with the same sound, but at the same time they do have talent and play better than a lot of the others out there. If you’re a big garage rock fan then you should check it out, for me its not really my kind of music, but I have been enjoying it as a background music while I read and I like them better than the Hives; and I guess if Wayne Kramer will say something good about you, there is something to you. “They’re down. They’re Dirty. This is real Rivithead Rock- You’ll Love It”-Wayne Kramer (MC5).
