Last night my friend Matt and I attended a show that weve both been anticipating for many months, Against Me!.It got moved from the Kensignton Community Center to the glorious basement confines of 99 Custer St. There was soo much punk rock there, we both felt very accepted (*sarcasm). The first 2 bands were very forgettable locals , then the No Idea Records bands came out and rocked oh so hard.

Army of Ponch only played 5 songs, this band was so good, they stole the show in my opinion. A band along the lines Hot Water Music, Gainsville style screamo.

Then Grabass Charlestons played. Again a very good band, more poppy than Army of Ponch but still very good. They rocked extremely hard, especially the drummer. They ripped through 6 songs, stirring the crowd into a frenzy.

Then the moment I had been waiting for months. Against Me! set up and played one of the most emotional intense sets this side of Shai Hulud. There was no room to move, but still I rocked me heart out. My friend didn't have any room to dance so that bummed me out a little. He is a dancing machine. They played "Pints of Guiness make you strong", "Walking is still honest", three more then finished off with "I still love you julie". I advise anyone that likes emotional heart felt music to check these bands out. No Idea Records is a goldmine of amazing music.

Four hours, five bucks later and the most underage drinking ive seen in my life I sat in my friends car and realized that Id prolly never spend another five dollars that bought me so much rock.

I saw this show in DC and it was absolutely incredible. But neither AOP or Grabass Charlestons can hold a candle to Against Me!. They are THE #1 MOST INCREDIBLE BAND IN THE WORLD. That I know of, anyway. Anarcho punks are mysterious.

When they played in athens, ga last july, everyone at the show went skinny dipping at a hotel pool down the street afterwards. There were like 30-40 people there. I left my boxers on cuz I'm a wuss.

I was at this buffalo show and it was wicked...except for the crusty scrawny naked drunk dude that was a little too close for comfort.it was so packed in there i was sitting on the p.a.but it was still amazing!!

I never heard against me! until I saw them in a kids basement. Most emotional performance I have ever seen. seriously, they seem to really love what they do and it reflects on there music and show. Great band.

Against me and Army of Ponch are in my opinion the two best bands around today. I've seen both of them a shitload of times but I hope they play more than only 5 or 6 songs each when they hit Atlanta.
Did anyone go to the Fest in G-ville last year? That was the rockin'est shit ever.

    REALPUNX4LIFE (December 14, 2002)

Wait. Grabass opened for Rivethead? That's bullshit. Rivethead is OK (sort of), but they're no Grabass Charlestons.

I've seen Grabass Charlestons opening for the Dillinger Four/Toys That Kill/Rivethead tour. They were pretty good and really energetic, and their drummer sang, so they deserve extra points for that. I've seen Against Me twice, and everyone should see them before they die, an absolutely amazing show.

Against Me! is the best band ever.

I was all set to cry BLASPHEMY on you when you said that the first two bands were forgettable. I figured it was just these three bands playing. Haha. Grabass Charlestons are friggin' outstanding. AOP is great, too. I saw them once and they were alright. They were sick, though, so that kept them from being amazing. Against Me! is... well, exactly what everyone else has said. I'd rather piss on my face and then go to this show. Nothing like a piss face rock show. I'm still heartbroken that I won't be able to see this show, even though Grabass is the only band there that I haven't seen. Plus, they're supposedly touring with two other amazing bands in a few months: tiltWheel and the Tim Version. Excuse me, I need to relieve some tension.

Against Me! rules, they are phenominal live.

I'd rather piss on your face, then go to this show. Against me is a good time. No idea is the best label out there, i think half my vinyl is from them. Bizarre. Any label that recognizes trapdoor fucking exit's brilliance deserves my patronage.

i'd rather piss on my face than go to this show
