If there was a punk rock hall of fame, there are certain people who could be inducted in as "builders" of the furthering of the genre. Men such as Jello Biafra, Ian McKaye, Johnny Rotten, and Joe Strummer. Iggy Pop can be counted in this group as well, and no where else is his contribution to music more greatly noticed than on the album Fun House.

This album is a total chaotic jam-out. Hard, loud guitars, and spastic drum beats fill up the whole album. Sure, the musical talents of the individual members are not perfect, but they do simple things, and do them well. Songs such as Dirt and Fun House showcase the abilities of the players in the band, as well as the absolute craziness that plagued Iggy while singing.

The real standout track on this album is L.A. Blues. This album has a real mean, noisy sound to it. It epitomizes what the Stooges were all about, that being making loud, angry, hard music. The total chaos of this track makes you feel the energy that was in the music then, the energy that so many of todays "punk" bands are lacking.

I only pointed to three tracks in my review of this album, but the rest of the tracks are not by any means lesser music. They are head and shoulders above just about anything that has come out in the past 5 years.

I can't make you like this album, but you have to respect this man's contributions to punk rock. He's a fucking hall of famer.

    I agree - good show lads. Shit, I missed the Stooges first time around, and didn't "get" then until high school - and probably still don't respect them as much as they deserve. Something funny I have noticed is what Iggy has been up to lately. Teaming with Sum 41 and being quoted as saying they are one of two or three bands he respects in music today. He didn't say he LIKED the music, but he RESPECTS them. That's cool. I'm so tired of all the pissing contests people have on this site, I hardly read anything on this site anymore because it's not about the music, it's about taking the piss out of someone for having an opinion or making a SPEELING mistake. Now, rant away - rant away...

    This is by far and I mean by FAR one of the greatest albums ever made of all time.Hands down!
    Every single fucking song on this album is a masterpiece.
    If there was ever another name for Punk than it should be the Stooges.

    Oh yeah, forgot to say, I love Rollins, but I would NOT put him in the punk rock hall of fame... Keith Morris, maybe, but not ol' Hank....

    See, I don't review NFG and all that other shit.... and I don't know of any album that deserves a full 10, i don't believe in rating an album "perfect"... however, if I DID believe in that, this one would be it.... I've never heard anything so fucking great...

    Come on, Freedom To Opress, lets not start this fucking argument. They both deserve to be in there. I like the Ramones AND the Sex Pistols. Apparently, I'm the only one who likes both. The Stooges were still great, though.

    Iggy was the first one to really shock and interact with the audience while singing shocking lyrics, and for that he is really the ultimate proto-punk.

    Another essential record. First VU, and now this. Good job. If I had one band to see live in their prime--past or present--The Stooges would be them. This just might be the funnest rock record of all time. No doubt: 5 stars.

    Great album, the best.....Yeah, Raw Power is awesome. I'd add Henry Rollins & Joey Ramone to that list of "punk founders" as well.
