In the last year, the Long Island scene has absolutely blown up. At few times was this more clear than this show, Brand New's homecoming show after months on the road. As was mentioned on stage multiple times, this show was the largest Long Island show since V.O.D. and Madball played in 1995. In fact, not only was there well over 1000 people at this show, but at the same time in New York City, Taking Back Sunday was playing to a sold out crowd of 1000. Simple the long island scene never "blew" up. The bands from l.i. did. get it right. Poop. You know everyone loves you. sports plus seems to be picking up all the rising long island bands. they're having taking back sunday play there on feb. 9th. this show was sold out in like maybe a week and a half thru merchdirect w/o any opening bands announced, just "special guests". ripshit. If you want good music from Long Island, listen to Blood Red. wuss- you must think that nothing is wrong with America. it was the way you said it that made it seem like you were making fun of me. which I know you were, but it's cool haha. you live in California and go to Utah for a skiing trip. good for you. no, my parents never did shit like that because they couldn't afford it. lol waste you never give up. haven't you ever gone skiing or snowboarding before? not all rich kids do it. have your parents ever taken you on a vacation before? damn, you punk kids really are something, making fun of someone for going on a family trip. your parents are loaded too, aren't they and who cares if he is mormon? who cares if his parents are loaded? I think wussemorock is a moron, but it has nothing to do with the wealth of his parents, he cant help it. All of you will defend gays(and rightfully so) because some are born that way, but rich kids are also born that way your parents are loaded aren't they nah, I am not a mormon. But, I am in Utah cause every year at this time I go skiing there. maybe wuss is a mormon... All lame people eventually end up in Utah. It's like disneyland for fucktards. wussemo why are you in Utah? the only possible thing that could have made this show any worse was if something corporate and nfg were on the bill. They were talking about ticket-sales when they called it the biggest show since 1995. And, for the record, Merchdirect sold out of tickets for this show before Simple Plan was announced, so any fans that went only for Simple Plan got tickets through a Empire Discs, and they never have more than 100 or so tickets to a show. The majority of "underground" music doesn't appeal to little kids who can only digest unprogressive and recycled pop. It's out there, just have to look for it. "I don't know why many people hate them but they're amazing in my opinion. I don't see you guys who are trashing these bands starting your own bands and touring out of your own pockets, building a fan base through word of mouth much like TBS and Brand New did way before they got signed to any label, so if I were you guys I'd would shut up." First of all.. I wouldn't call this the biggest show in long island's history, that's quite far-fetched. How could brand new close with such an energy-lacking song? That's so blah. And the starting line and brand new are far from underground. When you say, "the underground-loving" long island kids, who are you talking about? Because you know that doesn't describe the kids at that show. I'm willing to bet that a good portion of those tickets went to simple plan fans. Some underground show. Eh, I'm kind of surprised that they chose a venue for NYC that could only hold 1000. When TBS last came to Worcester, MA, they sold out the place which actually holds 2700. I would've thought they'd have their biggest crowd in New York... I don't know what it is, but I feel like Brand New is missing something. I feel like the music is just weak, and I don't know why. this show was so fucking hard to get into. i was so desperate that i found an empty cigarette pack, it was the kind with the teal on it, and you needed a teal bracelet to get in (which u got with a reservation #) and i was gonna cut it up and tape it around my wrist but it was striped so we dropped the idea. viceroymonarch has poor estimation skills. thank you. I'm from Long Island and both Taking Back Sunday and Brand New haven't played this island in such a long, long time and it's great that they both played a show in the NY area, but Brand New was just so amazing that night. I wish they both played together so I could have seen them both on the same bill. I don't know why many people hate them but they're amazing in my opinion. I don't see you guys who are trashing these bands starting your own bands and touring out of your own pockets, building a fan base through word of mouth much like TBS and Brand New did way before they got signed to any label, so if I were you guys I'd would shut up. this is the show I wish I was at more than any other show this year. damn. I do kinda agree that closing with "Mix Tape was somewhat weak, but they did play it differently from the CD version, much more energetic. Still though I think they should have switched the placement of "Mix Tape" and "Jude Law" on the set list. Oh yeah, and as for my score, 10 for None More Black, and zero for the rest. I cannot believe None More Black played with those shitty fucking bands... sad. Oh yeah, and that thing about the reviewer stopping breathing - funny. I agree. None More Black rocks my fucking socks, they get a 2. The rest of the bands are a joke. Seriously. I can't imagine more bland music than the other 3 bands. Taking back sunday sold out the knitting factory that night. The knitting factory's max. capacity is 400. "Also, you didn't really do a good job of describing any of the bands. Other than "Excited" or "Okay". You should stop reviewingshows/going to shows/breathing." i hope the none more black cd is good when it comes out. boy, that'll be a treat! If you consider The starting line or Brand new "Underground", you should kill yourself. none more black was the only band worth paying any attention to, at all. and simple plan is probably the worst thing to ever happen to music. it's "inexcusable" that they didn't have CD's? i guess they just shoulda whipped some up right before the show huh? i guess it's that easy. None More Black first off is from Philly, second they are ex-Kid Dynamite and only have a 7" out, they just signed to FAT so they should have a cd out soon. you were at this show? i hate you. |
