Ten bands. Sixty-nine minutes long. Seven bucks. Do I have your attention yet? Good. Well then, listen up. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
Its funny how early on in the comments people were arguing about labeling others, be it by mohawks or thrift store shirts. And now, they are actually having a conversation trying to help each other label the bands, and catagorizing them. the cover is the shit. hell, i'll give this record a perfect 10 without having heard any of the songs just for the cover. But wasnt Johnny Thunders a punk? Glam is Alice Cooper, shit like that. The New York Dolls barely ever played live in drag, and their sound is pretty basic-punk, and the lyrics sound pretty punk. Hell, if you consider The Velevet Underground to be punk (who I love, but dont really consider "punk"), then the New York Dolls are kinda hard to overlook. I totally agree-you are right that for the most part, the other British bands to follow the Pistols weren't about chaos, like the Clash and the Adverts. But many of them were "chaotic"-the Damned, for one - although they didn't call for destruction. More chaotic in their sound I guess, so fast at that time. Anyway, New York Dolls weren't a "punk" band-they were glam. They influenced punk, but were not considered a "punk" band. didnt bad religion start in 81 and nofx in 84. "the British punk scene-Sex Pistols-which was chaos and "destroy!"" That's so messed up. The Ramones sang about anarchy? Early punk-the Ramones-the whole NY scene was completely different from the British punk scene-Sex Pistols-which was chaos and "destroy!" "punk for the 15% of the kids here: bad religion, or nofx, or bad religion, or nofx, or bad religion, or nofx. elitist smart punks, or 'don'tgiveafuck punks', or elitist smart punks, or 'don'tgiveafuckpunks'." How are Bad Religion elitist, you idiot? You're being elitist by trying to categorize everyone and then place them below yourself. I hate everybody. Yay. I'm a punk. I'd be a mix of your 13 and 15 percentage....Black Flag and Bad Religion baby. Yeah, we are a minority. Aarrrrggghhhh. I kinda think it's funny. punk for half of the kids here: cute guyz with half distorted sustained 8 chords guitar. all looking 'different' and 'cool'. talking about 'everyday issues such as self destruction, relationship, and everything that the listeners will buy and relate to'. Typing in all caps is punk rock!!!1111 "At least those kids look decent." This is punk rock!!!!! sorry but a lot of your pansy ass renditions of todays "punk rock" is minimal 4 minute songs with 12 different chord progressions and red punk rock shirts!(90% of which are purchased at hot topic). There is a selected few punk rockers out there that actually enjoy this style of anarchy punk rock or old school or whatever you call it, so if you dont like it, fuck off and get outta our way. Ignorant people piss me off and on that note.................................................... I'm out this muthafucka! who cares how a band looks, that's not whats important is it? as far as the cd, good old school punk. I love old school punk, I don't however love bands that are simply rehashing the afforementioned music. At least those kids look decent. To the comment below, AGREED!!! Thank god, atleast ONE person on this site has a fucking clue. *high five* i always have to laugh at the people that come on here and label anyone with a mohawk, spikes, chains, studs etc. as fashion punks but don't say a word about all the new brand of punk/indie/emo bands with perfectly sculpted hair, stylish clothes, and a million dollars worth of tattoos. rebellion is great only when you have a good reason for it. I mean, if you are doing it to sound cool then fuck off, if you are some southerner claiming to be a "rebel" with your "rebel" flag because you are a racist then FUCK YOU, but if you are a rebel against hatred, against society's bullshit, against ignorance, against bush then RIGHT ON! hey hey anyone else notice that this is PUNKNEWS not emonews man u guys bash real punk bands I am so confused. "....NONE of the music you like if it wasnt for the guys who sung about "anarchy and shit". You're a hopeless case, but I'm not worried because next year the new trend will come along and I wont have to meet people like you at shows." "it seemed to me like you were infering that "old-school" punks singing about anarchy and bullshit like that was somehow going to change things." "You can't seriously be this stupid. Please point out where I said that, because I simply made the point that we do have problems(because of your 'it's not that bad' comment). Something you're obviously oblivious to, just like the point I made. Please feel free to defend yourself while ignoring reality." the 80s was the best decade in regards to underground music, so quit yer bitchin "Ok. So a bunch of retards who spent 8000 dollars on their outfit are gonna change the world? Your a moron." "Yeah because you always hear that at NOFX shows. Besides, younger kids are the basis of punk rock. Sure, I don't like hot topic punks either, but NOFX and Strung out really don't fit that. This music sucks because it hasen't progressed past 1985 and if I wanted to listen to music like this, I'd listen to old school that was actually from that era, not some prehistoric repeat of the originals. " Ok. So a bunch of retards who spent 8000 dollars on their outfit are gonna change the world? Your a moron. That last comment was stupid. Maybe this rebellion is generic and silly, but that does not negate the fact that we live in fucked up times and we need to do something about it. Follow the news beyond CNN and you'll see. God damn kids, stop with this fucking rebellion business. It's not as bad as you think. Really. 80's music??? What opposed to your NOFX and Strung Out bull shit??? This is the only punk around that the *little kiddies* don't get into anymore, so atleast you can go to a That must be one of the dumbest album covers of all time. Yuck. And yeah...that 80's had the Talking Heads, so it's cool. 80's music??? What opposed to your NOFX and Strung Out bull shit??? This is the only punk around that the *little kiddies* don't get into anymore, so atleast you can go to a The '80's had some great music (Black Flag, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks) and some bad music (Exploited, Anti Nowhere League) I think you know this stuff fits into the latter. But I like some of the Unseen's stuff. The begining of your review reminded me of a sketch from "Mr. Show." Yeah, the 80s called, they want their crappy music back. Someone's stuck in the 80s! |
