Ok, it's NOFX. Like I have to even review this, since I know all you kids will buy it regardless. But here goes nothing. "Pump..." is a good, solid NOFX album. It's NOT the best, as you might have read somewhere, but it is good. I would personally put the uncomparable "Punk In Drublic" and "White Trash..." before it. NOFX has certainly not lost their humor on this release, with tracks such as "Clams Have Feelings Too [actually they don't]" and "My Vagina" but they seemed to have lost a step or two in the overall message department. NOFX's older albums, while containing plenty of humor, also had some political and social messages intertwined, educating the average punker while making them laugh. This album seems to dismiss any content in favor of cheap laughs [save "Dinosaurs Will Die," a rant about major labels]. I'm personally leaning to "The Decline" over this right now in recent NOFX releases, simply because "The Decline" intrigued and educated me. "Pump..." does neither. This doesn't mean people can't enjoy the album, far from it. It simply means that NOFX is content with themselves [but for how long?], and we are getting the end result: yet another NOFX release for the masses [and even a few picky record critics] to enjoy. i dont rele like this who ever said Fat Mike is genius... is talking some real shit.. Great album, one of my favorites. they did really good considering it was their first album without ska. YEAH! the only good thing this cd is for is scratching my balls u fucking hippy pussy liberals What I like in this album is that Fat Mike has come back to the good old NOFX style , there's no ska , no reggae , no jazz , this doesn't mean I don't like their " special songs " , but it's just cool to have a record which rocks all the way . And this record is the first " after Decline " record , I can feel a change in the sound sometimes ( it sounds " modern " punk on some songs like Herojuana or Dinosaurs Will Die , but it must come from the recording of Mr Greene ) , still , Louise has a real cheap punk sound , and it's just well done by Fat Mike to mix all these different sounds in the same album , because it's the first time that I really feel the changing of sounds . So I think this one's a REAL GOOD NOFX ALBUM ( just like the others ) , and if theres someone in this webpage to tell the contrary , he can always get the fuck out of here there are lots of lousy bands with lousy websites to go to : Blink 182 , the Offspring , etc ... this album is ok, but punk in drublic is way better fat mike is genius u r all just pop punk listeners What saves this album from a lower score is its great guitar solos, especially in "Pharmisist's Daughter". If the guitar sucked I would have given it like a 6. It is a solid album though. Fat mike is kinda gay (if by gay you mean a knee-jerk liberal), but nofx plays some good stuff Nofx sucks. Fat mike is gay. I can listen to this shit for like 10 times in a row and not get tired!!!!this album fucking rules. i'm sorry, i know it's been said a million times before but... Senor Potpourri, you are a fucking moron. just the fact that you want nofx to soften up their song-writing in order to make some "rock-radio hits" makes me want to beat you with a lead pipe. and you are quite possibly the only person on the plant who didn't get nofx's "surfer" cover. kill yourself now. please, for the betterment of the world. First of all, I would like to second the notion that I am an idiot. When I was first on this site, I had heard no punk at all except for "Bottles to the Ground" on the radio. I put that comment on there because I had read another review of this CD somewhere else and it mentioned "My Vagina." Also, I was still ignorant and thought Sum 41 was cool, so I was pissed off by people that hated them (I thank you all so much now) so I just wanted to say something to piss you guys off more. If you'll notice, I made that comment almost four months ago. I have changed a lot since then in my musical tastes. So to everyone who had to read that comment, I'm sorry. I went I and bought this CD the week it came out (along with the disturbing poster of the girl with blue lipstick they gave me for free) and added it to the rest of my NOFX collection. Sure it's not like Punk in Drublic or Ribbed or So long, but it's different and I like it just as I liked all there other releases. NOFX is the band that got me listening to Punk and they a still my favorite band to this day and they hold a place in my heart. Err, that last part sounded sissi-like. Oh well. Senor Potpourri is an idiot. I don't even have to explain why. UH OH! NoFX are popular!! So now we have to start calling them "sellouts" and "pop-punk" right?? the guy that said something about radio play should end. anyway, this album rocks ass. Okay. i hate you senor poperi, please take your radio and shove it down your throat.- fathead If NOFX didn't do songs that are so fucking gross (such as "My vagina," a first-person account of a sex change, and others), this band might have made some rock-radio hits, but I guess they'll just keep relying on a few million perverted underground fans. I love NOFX, but this album just didn't do it for me. Their worst release yet, by far. Hopefully they will be able to rebound from this piece of shit they call "Pump Up the Valium" People say about Bad Religion that they should quit.I think the'yre music is still refreshing with good lyrics. With Nofx i feel a different way.I think this album sucks so bad.Fuck this worthless piece of crap. The same old no brainer songs over and over again. At least The Decline was good! thank god it's monday is one of their best songs ever. who cares if this record doesn't send the messages past albums have, nofx has always been about having fun and doing what they want to do no matter what people said about them. there are some of their cleverest(is that a word?) songs on pump, and i really like this cd. |
