Pennsylvania is very cold in winter. Anyone one who went to A-F Records 5th birthday bash at Mr. Smalls in Millvale ,Pa would agree with me on that one. I arrived around 7 pm and parked my car at the 1st place I found and right off the bat, some cop bitched at me and made me move. Started out very well dont you think? Well then me and my girl walked to the building, which Im guessing is some old church. We stood in line for about 45 min while it was about 15 degrees out. That was alot of fun let me tell you. So finally we got in and the night definately picked up from there.

Pat Thetic was at the front takin tickets. Very nice guy I must say. I went and found the closest hole in the crowd that was close to the stage and planted myself there.

The Vacancy was the 1st opening band. They had a emoish, poppy sound but personally they sounded better than alot of the band of that genre. All in all, they put on a good show even wiht a little harshness from the crowd.

The Code was next on the list. They have a mix of street punk/ska that the crowd got very into. The singer Marc was very intense and got the crowd goin. I really liked their set.

Now was came the reason I was at this show. Leftover Crack. Stza and the group totally rocked the place. They had a few set backs like their new guitarist equipment screwing up and the Stza tried to pull a security gaurd of some kid in the middle of the set. They played all my fav loc tunes and they even threw in some choking victim classics like infested and 500 channels. They definitely made the whole show worth it.

Anti Flag closed up the show with an incredible set. They played a few more newer pieces than old ones but i still really enjoyed it. Justin Sane tends to talk alot between songs but he had alot of good stuff to say about the world and the u.s and it was interesting. They closed up with die for your government which they invited the whole crowd on stage to sing along so I got up there and belted it out with about 75 others kids. Very good time.

never seen loc live in pennysylvania., but there easily the best thirdwave ska band (well, choking victim as well, but ya know they're sorta interchangeable).
here on cape cod we have terrible ska bands (like 2 out of the 15 are worth it) and i just do my own skankmosh (basically a twostep with windmills) and when one of teh local punk bands covered an loc it brought downt the house. normally i plow through the ska fags, but to LOC hardcore kids, ska fags, crusties, sxe toughguyz, everybody moshes and dances and violates everybody elses space. the best.

I was at this show. I bet some of you peoples would remember me, cuz I pissed a lot ot people off, and I was really drunk. It was so freaking cold outside then it was so hot in there and there was no room. The security guy there was an asshole and almost didnt let us back in. And whoever posted the LOC setlist missed a lot of songs. So you wanna be a cop? And I know there was more.

Did anyone else see when the guy from LOC sang along to Spazzs House Destruction Party? Somone should email me infested_victim@hotmail.com

the 10 is for the good leftover crack and the number of dwarves Wuss has taken it from over the years.

i had the displeasure of seeing anti-flag at the warped tour(boy did that suck) and they just bitched about george bush the whole time. they should go on a hunger-strike for something. theyre also really bad and whiny. its like hardcore for emo kids.

but yeah, LOC is the shit. the rest of the bands can suck me off.

hey, you know how they had the Anti-Warped Tour in toronto or something, and the have the Slamdance Film Festival, which is like the anti-Sundance? well, i wonder how long till theres an anti-anti-warped tour. food for thought.

Ehhh....I sort of listen to ska,(no, not Reel Big Fish, stuff like Desmond Decker and The Specials)and I don't even think the Code are any way a ska(or ska punk) band. Not even AAA is considered a ska band, Danny Lore said himself. I think it's just that The Code are heavily influeced by Op Ivy and have a tendency to play that little guitar riff, but that hardly makes them a ska band.

Good review. Good bands. I'm sorry I missed the show.
Wuss can fuck off because Anti-Flag is a good band. They are not doing anything ground breaking, but they play good, fun music and putting on an awesome live show. Also, about their message. For the most part, they are right. Sure, they throw around the word "fascist" too much, but they are right to say that bush is an asshole and his policies are hurting the country and the world. If you don't like Justin's rants, then deal with it. They have an important message and it would be stupid of them not to use their concerts to try to get it across to other people.
Finally, that Kovalev trade was ridiculous. What the hell are the Pens thinking?

Pat's faces scare me too. And the first band was Whatever It Takes, Chris #2 from Anti-Flag's side project. The Code and Leftover Crack are to of the best punk/ska bands around today, I wish I lived around Pitt so I could have seen it. And Infested and 500 Channels are better than anything LOC has put out so far, but i'm looking forward to the new album. As far as Anti-Flag goes, they are some of the nicest guys I have ever met. Pat is awesome and so is Justin. Yeah their older stuff is better. And yes the political stuff can be a little much sometimes. But they still have the ability to put on a great show, and a lot of what Justin says at shows has a lot of truth behind it. I'm glad to hear any voice that goes against the shit that gets spewed by the Bush administration or any administration for that matter. Alternative voices are always welcome in my book.

the review is wrong, there were a couple bands that played before the vacancy. one of them had the annoying bass player from anti flag playing guitar and singing. they weren't too bad actually. they did the generic style of what's going around now... you know, two guitarists, shaggy hair, octaves, etc... but they did it pretty well.

anyways, i thought LOC's set was pretty weak. they gotta knock it off with the choking victim stuff. the new stuff is so much better.

i was really amused at how half the crowd left after loc though. they upstaged anti-flag on their home turf. that made me laugh. they played a few songs and gave an equal amount of lectures. man, they fucking suck at that too. if you're gonna waste half your set preaching, at least write a good sermon
