One day a long time ago, 2 weeks, I'm browsing through Chris Warped the only decent punk music store in Cleveland. I hear on their speakers the like of which I'd never heard of before, Indie-rock magic, large praise for a genre I'm not often a fan of. This genius goes by the name of Postal Service. Pathetic mainstream drivel disguised as indie. ok, so i went out to cali to visit some friends, and this album was in my friends car. i proceded to come up with elaborate plans to "borrow" this cd and bring it home to buffalo. it became a really cool game, and allthough i tried everything, i had to buy my own. not a big deal, worth every penny. i had the coolest cd when i got home, and i was cool for like 3 months until people here started becoming familiar with it. so thank god i have friends on the west coast. BUY IT. One of the greatest albums ever, if not the greatest I've ever listened to. It really does deserve a 10/10, the lyrics are genius, and they're catchy. The album seems like it's definitely underrated here. if you liked this cd you might want to try anything on neon golden by the notwist... its a little different but in a lot of ways similar i agree, this album is incredible. i just bought it monday and i have not been able to stop listening to it. my cd library totally sucks now. all i want to listen to is the cd, and its not getting old in the least bit. the idea is so amazing to combine these two genres. gibbard is definitely the man. one of the biggest writing influences ever. DON'T BUY THIS CD, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO STOP LISTENING! okay, really, go buy it! "i shot in heavan, now i cry. No one lives for ever, infact we all die." i just got this album yesterday after rediscovering some mp3s that my ex had sent me a few months ago. This album is incredible. no, it aint perfect, but this is still original and blissful music that i hope to see more of in the future. im suprised there is not more negative feedback here, i would think all the "punks" would have something to say you know.. oh i dont know you know I am obsessed with this CD right now. i just picked up this cd, i am very impressed. have not listened to the album yet... thats supposed to be: Am I... I'm I the only one that thinks Ben Gibbard's lyrics totally blow on this album...not to mention his tired melodies...I love Jimmy Tamborello from his days in strictly ballroom and through figurine and dntel he's always been solid...but this album would be better if anyone else in the world was singing on it. This CD's good and all, but I don't think I'm as big of a fan as you all here. I love Death Cab and like the singing and lyrics on this CD, but the monster beats make me feel like I'm in a gay disco. absolutely incredible. ben gibbard can do no wrong. anyone ever heard the revolutionary hydra? This is not what I would normally listen too, but this effort is just flat out amazing. picked up this cd yesterday because of all the recommendations and it is fuckin amazing...thank you all for pointing that out to me..ive been listening to it nonstop this album is amazing.. a friend of mine sent it to me about a month ago [ i know, it just recently came out.. he got it early. ] Wow, I gotta check this out. Ben Gibbard is a lyricist of legendary proportions. It is silly how he has mastered the sang word. Best.....album.....of.....the....year Ultrasound is good too, if you want to make it out to Mentor. The Dntel album is great too, possibly better, simply because The Dream of Evan and Chan (ft Ben Gibbard) is one of the greatest songs of all time. Seriously, if you like Postal Service, find that song, it is the bomb. its ridiculous how amazing this album is. I'm pretty sure this is my album of the year, it's going to be pretty hard to top it. Definately one of the best releases of 2003 and I don't know if that'll change by the end of the year. This record is that good. The EP isn't bad itself. Iron and Wine cover "Such Great Heights" on it. Good times. Haven't heard of the album or band. |
