I was so prepared to hate this. I was ready to throw this CD out of my window and laugh as it hit Moldy in the head walking by my room. I was ready to finally turn a CD into a drink coaster, something I had always joked about but never done. I was ready to tear this little piece of shit band named after a character in a halfway decent adaptation of "Peter Pan" a brand spankin' new asshole. I mean, c'mon - isn't this that New Found Glory-ripoff band that has a song called "Dip Shit?" They have to suck. Please login or register to post comments. shlub I hate this site so damn much. You people are retarted. heh i just heard all of '1985' and it's horrible. enjoy this while you can To the guy a few comments down, Finch is from Cali. Idiot. And Rufio kicks ass, especially live. Rufio's music is all right, kind of in a Strung Out lite vein. I might listen to it if it wasn't for the vocals which are more high pitched whining to nab the band some 16 year old groupie tang. At least they're young enough that it's not an entirely sick cause. RUFIO ROCKS!! Or maybe their all the same because blink 182 and good charlotte made a lot of money playing the simplest and most mindless music around. These bands have no integrity or ingenuity like those old school punk bands you mentioned. You people are retarded. Talking about how all these bands are carbon copies. Did you notice how everyband you drop, NFG, Rufio, Good Charlotte, all these bands with all the members under the age of 25. Did it ever occur to you that maybe they are all alike because they all have the same influences, all grew up with the same music. ALl those old school punk bands sound the same, but you dont knock them. Y? because of street cred or some bullshit? Fuck yous all. What about all these bands coming from new york that you guys love to hate. TBS FINCH etc. o shit you think it might be because they came from the same areas where they were influenced by the same shit. fuck. oh yea just to clarify the you can all jerk me off guy and the i'm gunna shit my pants if they go to calgary guy is the same guy oh wow if they play in calgary i'm gunna shit my pants in joy, this time i won't get fucked up and puke alot and pass out during many good bands though this is a great ep! i cant wait to hear their next big record? oh oh and warped tour too! what? hahaha i think its funny how people like to pout time to tell people they don't know how much a band sucks, when in reality they are probably some lazy fuck who thinks he's more punk than anyone else jsut because he has a pink mohawk, i think rufio kicks huge ass and i think you can all jerk me off Im glad because I wasn't trying to be clever OR funny. So go get plastered and drive. that wasn't clever or funny. ya know what else is fun, mass suicide, so grab a few of your friends and gloria and have at it. making dumb comments like that is fun, huh? defending crappy music is fun, huh appearantly the person below me is a physiology major and was in the studio while the band recorded. How anyone can say that his voice sounds good on this CD, has to be lying. personaly opinions are cool, huh? sorry for the triple comment thread but I just downloaded these songs, they suck ass, the cock rock entrance into "don't hate me" is dumb. and as far as originality goes most bands would do better on that test than rufio would. so can I, and rufio just isn't it. Dignin, RUFIO IS UNORIGINAL. Thats it. Go listen to music with integrity, and if you want great guitar work listen to led zeppelin or jimi hendrix. So what if their better than nfg, thats not saying anything. And what is this crappy crappy trend? All we do these days is complain about trends: "Oh they're just another scramo band," "Oh they just do the garage-rock thing," "Oh they're just another pop punk band." I'm sorry dingin or whatever the hell you're name is, but until you can brove that Rufio isn't above the rest, nobody will believe you. And I'm all for Bright Eyes and Cursive, but they are entirely different and bear no relation to a Rufio argument. You have your own opinion but it's different music, and I'll take Rufio over NFG anyday, and I'll take Bright Eyes over them too, and I'll take my opinion over yours. The point is rufio is not good music and they sound and act just like NFG, right down to the whiny high voice, boring lyrics about girls, mall punk style, and synconized jumps. They are apart of a crappy crappy trend that will goe away, and rufio will disapear because they have no originality. How bout you ditch this band and listen to the one you or I mentioned? Ok, we could all keep name dropping obscure bands, or we could talk about the merits of Rufio. The music is really good. Its well-written and well-done. okay, how about weston. rufio is shit to weston. they were pop punk. music with generic pop structures can be good if it shows a respect to the conventions of that type of music nailed to a science over the last billion years, rufio doesn't. i dont care about these whitebread heartbreaks. pass the j church for my pop needs. You missed the whole point. This was purely about pop punk. Fugazi, Cursive, etc., are completely different then this type of music. Plus, Rufio isn't a rip off of NFG. Pop punk is a rip-off of everyting, and buddy, NFG wasn't the first to do it. music to me isn't about who can write the cutest and catchiest riffs. Rufio is a rip off of NFG and thats a fact. Its some bullshit trend that also avril and smple plan are apart of. I agree with waste listen to fugazi or any otherinventive heartfelt music. Not just some dudes crooning about girls. And don't get me wrong singing about that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there are a lot of bands who do it better than rufio(cursive, bright eyes, elliot smith). ... All of these songs are better than average pop punk songs played with emotion and heart. That's it. I like them. Ya know why? Here. Throw on the any of the common pop-punk stuff you hear all the time (NFG, Starting Line, Midtown, Alkaline Trio). Yeah, I said Alkaline Trio. Keep reading your judging 'punks.' Listen to Matt Skiba's guitar work. Ooooo. Kinda. As for Rufio, it's way more intricate and just as catchy. Listen 'punks' and then prove me wrong. The only thing Alkaline Trio have over Rufio is their lyrics. Rufio's lyrics ARE trite but hey, they can write a hook. I'll admit that I would rather listen to Skiba anyday over the singer from Rufio's yelp but I'm saying if there's a band that I want out there on MTV as our new generation's punk, I'd much rather have Rufio than NFG or Good Charlotte. Rufio's guitar work rivals the best (watch their lead guitarist live: I saw them with Thrice and he was just as good as their guitarists, I'm right, don't even try before you check him out playing) and they're the best of pop-punk out there. I don't care if you don't like them. But they're above the rest. Give them a chance. And if you don't like them fine. I bet they wouldn't give a shit anyway. I dont hate everything MTV plays, but rufio is a very unorigianl band, who cares if their music is more complicated than NFG's, they both still suck Good EP. hook sucked this was better the first time I heard it, when they were called NFG. Wait it sucked then too Boy! Scott is so hardcore! can you believe he admitted to liking this.....jesus christ. It's ok to admit scott because these guys play some serious music. Do you people hear that guitar rapeing?! Awesome! 3 good songs but it seems like a waste of plastic to print the cd for only 3 tracks. Just wait and put them on a full length.-Jason i heard the guys from rufio use rufees on each other. is this true? obviously you haven't even listened to rufio if you think it's bland pop music. you fucktards give good bands like this a bad name. 'and they need to take their names off of the cover. lifetime did it once, and they are the only band allowed...because they own' i hate when reviewers pretend to dislike a band they actually like just so their favorable review of said band seemingly has more weight. well guess what? your pretty transparent and youve been caught. p.s this band is very boring. words cant describe how much i hate this kind of band so i wont even try. To the very calm and collected buy below me- To the angry guy like 10 posts down - Scott, in running this site, most likely was given this CD for free. So, unlike as you say, not all of us here are convinced he bought it and therefore planned to enjoy it. His is an unbiased opinion in that regards. This CD is ALRIGHT. Not really good, but here's what I think. They do pretty good for kids only 20 years old. But instead of selling this for an outrageous amount at stores and online, they should give it out at shows. That way, people would actually want to listen to it, because even if the CD sucks, they didnt pay any money for it, so no biggie. Hey, it may make a nice drink coaster. haha amazing amount of comments God awful fucking sissy music. Jesus Christ, are kids being born without testicles these days? Honestly, these bands sound like they're in dire need of a nut sack. tbs isn't a copy of nfg, starting line, or brand new. But Rufio is Yeah foserious, its all in the vocals that brings this band down. everything else is pretty darn good. get this band a new vocalist and they'll be in business. it's funny that that new jack shit guy was so quick to make fun of the guy below him. the guy had a fuckin point. the reviewer made such a painstaking effort to excuse the fact that he enjoyed the cd by telling us that he thought it would suck. and for christ sake... come up with better insults. i'm getting quite tired of the whole majorlabel band followed by some sort of degrading actiuon usually involving pedophillia or incest. hahahah you made an account on this site ok fucker i'll just go listen to limp bizkit. you're right, anger is horrible. i think i'll find god too. besides, rufio is a little too rough for my taste. you are way to angry...it's like you wasted the money on it...not the reviewer. go pop in your limp bizkit cd and rape your neighbors little sister. this guy who reviewed this piece of shit actually thinks we are gonna believe that he was preparing for complete garbage. every single person here knows you purchased AND listened to this fucksore for the sole purpose of your enjoyment. you're not fooling anybody. if you thought it was gonna suck, you shouldn't have given it a fuckin chance and they need to take their names off of the cover. lifetime did it once, and they are the only band allowed...because they own. boooooooorrrrrrrring. total garbage. the guys in this band need to quit and get some real jobs....at guitar center. when exactly was it that "punk" music became judged on musicianship??? if you ask me, extreme talent means two things: too much time, and not enough drugs (that was meant to go to the guy under the one under me... confusing... yes-BostonMusicGuy ZING-BostonMusicGuy No one should care if these pussies can play their instruments, this shit is...shit. Well then, one thing that IS perfectly clear is that you do a great job carbon copying what everyone else says... you mean this isn't nfg, or the starting line, or brand new, or tbs, or sum41, or midtown, or any of the other bland carbon copy bands? could have fooled me. Rufio are a pretty good band but they put more passion into their cover of "Like a Prayer" than they do any of their own songs. For whatever reason I started a pit at a Rufio show once. Oops...5 stars? Not today junior. Horrible vocals. I hate this band with all the might that I can muster. If scott likes this,it must be rubbish-oldpunker- I have to agree with you about the drummer of strung out. He doesn't sound like the other fat drummers at all...but the Rufio drummer does seem influenced by the Strung Out drummer. Also, Rufio os decent, not great but decent. To me they are NFG meets Strung Out. Annoying vocals. Oh wait, I hate NFG too, what a surprise. Scott, if you ever say that the drummer from Strung Out is following or near to anything else on Fat again, well, I'll eat your baby. Seriously, he's up there with fuckin Jimmy Chamberlain. Oh, this band: booooo. One more thing, MIDTOWN? sigh... too many emo boys... Madball already has a song called Set It Off, and it's alot better than anything Rufio will ever do. Not good, dudes. nobody should diss vanessa carlton! you fuckheads... she plays the piano better than any other pop artist right now... she's very talented and very cute... I loke goof, foog tates good! I didn't know New found glory came out with a new cd. But for real. i will be the first to admit i listen to shitty along with good music but these dudes are really really bland. This band is sooooo awful. Saw Rufio back in June with Strung Out, I must say, there music is incredibly bland. i don't know...i have there last album and it was okay for about a week...then it got really old and all the songs droned together...their guitars are good but the music is boring and uninspired...please don't compare them to brand new or TBS kinda reminds of vanessa carlton. i bought this ep for $5 at virgin. i liked their last cd a lot, but this one is such a big step up for them. i cant wait for their next full length cd! i also saw them with the ataris and they rocked! "you say "i was so prepared to hate this" and yet you later say you might listen to it along with your Midtown, Brand New, Ataris, and TBS?! Good review, and good band, but like the guy said below...who would ever go out and spend $7 or $8 on 3 songs (I am guessing that is what stores will be pricing this as). yeah, you seem liked you would like rufio just as much as any other. How many more bands are going to have a song called "Don't Hate Me"? Geez. rufio is boring as hell. they have no excitement at all in their music. its just dull and bland. like emo music. its total crap ok.. well even if you dont like this ep.. or their cd 'perhaps, i suppose'.. they are an amazing band live.. i saw them with taking back sunday and it was pretty fucking amazing...rufio is definitely pop punk but atleast they can play their instruments... their guitarist still fucking kicks ass.. Rufio. Rufio. Rufio. Rufiooooooooooooooo. I'm sorry but I can't buy into this hype. I listented to "Perhaps, I suppose" and it was just bland pop-punk. The new song that's posted sounds like a reject from that album but a bit polished. Sorry but I say don't believe the hype. Don't believe Rufio. The review is not horrible or horrid or whatever you can called it, it's a honest review. Most of you don't like Rufio but this EP sound good no matter what you think. Set is Off & Don't hate me are good song with nice guitar and chorus period. Give it a try before crying ITS F*CKING SUCKS. you say "i was so prepared to hate this" and yet you later say you might listen to it along with your Midtown, Brand New, Ataris, and TBS?! I don't understand how anyone could pay money for a 3 song cd. I haven't heard the other two songs, but Don't Hate Me rules. That review was horrid. |
