I hate shows when I’m sick. And with the way gas prices are going here in San Diego, I was discouraged from going to the show. But it was my duty to be there and Sparta is good, so I went. This was my first time in Soma. I was surprised at the way the venue looked because it was a lot different than I had expected. It appeared to be an abandoned movie theater, with a few walls knocked out, modified to make a fairly large (small) venue. In the lobby of the venue, there were 2 movie projectors showing the “SnoCore” DVD over and over. There were people skiing, snowboarding, or riding mini stunt bikes. Since I was hanging out solo for most of the night, it was a good way to kill time between sets, and through most of Glass Jaw’s set (who I swear played for a thousand years). ya,they all suck............. I'll blame the reviewer's bad opinion of the Glassjaw set on his sickness and lack of actual being present for the band's set, because Glassjaw puts on a great show. I'd definetly tell the reviewer to check them out in better health, because they aren't boring or unorginal. They're at the top of their field and they have really wild shows. I seen this show last night in St.Louis.I had never heard of dredg before though I really enjoyed their set. HWM was incredible like they always are. The reviewer complaining about seeing them too many times is mind-boggling to me. They only played 30 minutes though and it seemed to me by how dead the crowd was when they where playing that the majority of the crowd was not familiar with hwm. I talked to Chris after their set ,he is an incredible guy though he was also incredibly drunk. Glassjaw was nothing special. I just couldn't get into them. Bands that misspell their names should be shot. isn't there a screening process anymore? how do you review if you hate all the bands, you were sick, and you've seen them all. horrible review. kill those fucking ruthless bastards... It was also really awesome to be able to see them on their own, not on some package tour where they only get to play for half an hour. In a way I'm kind of glad I don't live in California or something. The movielife review was an embarassment for this site. maybe you should separate reviews writtten by staffers from reviews written by jackasses and fuck ups. This score is for this review. i dont get glassjaw at all. i saw them at some festival 2 years ago and hated them. i saw them on a tour with new found glory and hated them. i gave them another chance when they toured with american nightmare and hated them. the guys voice is really annoying. seeing them live is very painful. hot water music in my opinion is the only band worth really seeing on this tour. i have yet to really listen to sparta but i like atdi so i would give them a chance before dismissing them. the review wasnt to bad but name some songs they played. at least what they opened with or something. This review was fine. I was at the seattle show and i probably would have said the same thing. Dredge was HORRIBLE and BORING. Hot Water Music only play for 30 fucking minutes but those 30 minutes were great. Glassjaw is the worst band i have seen live in a LONG time - god they are terrible. His vocals are so annoying and the way he was doing his "hardcore dance moves" and thanking the straight edge kids. Now they are on MTV and have a bunch of jock-rock fans. Anyway, as far as the rest of the bands, I completely agree. this is the worst show review ive ever read glassjaw is the only band on this tour that makes it worth going too. I agree with you except for I have never heard of the opener. Glassjaw is terrible I would really like to see this tour, but I don't want to deal with Glassjaw. I haven't seen HWM yet, so I feel like a tool. Maybe I could go, I mean who can't use a little frat rock! |
