“This is where I live and I fucking love it!” And with those opening words Vendetta Red took the stage and began their set at the Graceland in their hometown Seattle Washington. They were the opening band, preceding One Line Drawling, and The Movielife. The original line up consisted of A Static Lullaby as well, but they had to cancel due to unfortunate family problems. This was yet another great show at the Graceland, filled with energy and emotion. I have to say all three of these bands impressed me more that I expected they would.

Vendetta Red was first. Since we are in Seattle, their hometown, they had a huge following. I was blown away by the crowd’s enthusiasm and warm homecoming for the band. This night was extra special for Vendetta Red, since they were filming their set for a forthcoming video. Because of this special occasion, they asked to audience to dance, jump, and dive more than they ever had before. There were no complaints from the crowd, and I am sure there is more than enough crazy footage for their video. Since I came to Seattle for school, lots of people have been telling me to check out this band. Since my friends had talked them up so much, I was in acute anticipation for their set. All I really have to say is wow. The energy was insane. Zak, the front man knew how to rile up the crowd and keep their attention. It was cool to see a band so close to their fans. Vendetta Red has a harder edge, with a lot of screaming vocals as well as some lighter vocals at times. They love to jump into the crowd as they sing and play their instruments, as well as swing their microphones all over the place. If you are in the mood to dance, check these guys out. They are a fun time, and some great music.

After Vendetta Red there was a huge change of pace as One Line Drawling took the stage. I have seen One Line Drawling before in Chicago, but this was the first time I really listened and paid attention to what Jonah had to say in-between and during his songs. This guy cracked me up. He was witty and funny. From listening to his little speeches and lyrics, it is easy to see he is an extremely intelligent man. Jonah was brave enough to throw in some political comments as well. I felt what he had to say was very valid and impacting, “learning and having your own opinion is being an American.” He also stressed the importance of people to smile. My favorites of the night included, “Lukewarm” “01-2” “Your Letter” “Bury White” a cover of Sensefield’s “Wings” and “Better than This”. During “Bury White” Zak from Vendetta Red joined Jonah on stage and helped him sing. The crowd went wild. Jonah continued to joke and converse with the crowd. His music was easy to listen to, and very enjoyable, without becoming repetitive. As he left the stage, Jonah left the crow with his last words of wisdom and said, “Let’s turn off our TV’s and talk to each other”. This guy is the real deal. He sat around the venue after his set and looked for intelligent conversation with his fans, and meant every word he said.

And finally, The Movielife. What and amazing ending to the night. I have to say these guys surprised me. The jumped on stage with and energetic rendition of “Walking on Glass” and the crowd joined in right from the beginning. From their first song to their last, I don’t think any of the Movielife’s fans missed a lyric. The dancing was crazy, and Vinnie commended Seattle for having the finest group of stage divers he has seen in a long time. They continued to play a lot of tracks off their newest album “40 Hour Train Ride Back to Penn”. During “Jamestown” both Zak and Jonah jumped on stage to sing along with the band. This was probably one of the coolest moments of the night. All the bands seemed to be good friends and shared their music with each other, joining each other on stage. The Movielife’s set included “Walking on Glass” “Kelly” “Jamestown” “Face on Kneecaps” “Spanaway” “Once in a Row” “It’s Something” “Hand Grenade” “I Hope You Die Soon” “Joy to the World” and “Single White Female”. There were a few others I think I may have left out. But nonetheless, this band put on an amazing set. I saw them about a month ago when they were on tour with Finch, and that show doesn’t even begin to compare to what these guys put on last night. This danceable band kept the energy high, and had even one of the staff members of the venue jump in the pit and crowd surf. I have one bit of advice for you; see these guys when they come to your town.

So, if you like to dance, have fun at shows, and laugh along with the bands on stage, this tour is one you cannot pass up. If you already missed it, go and pick up an album from any of these bands and rock out on your own. It will be time well spent.

humble wouldnt be the word to describe your opinion my friend. i would label your words as pompus and uninformed.
Vendetta Red is one of the most energetic and impassioned acts on the circuit these days. if you think you can put on a better show, by all means do it. if not, sit on your ass and talk shit about some band that deserves it.
That is my humble advice.

Lets just stop talking about terrible bands. In other news Small Brown Bike and the Casket Lottery are touring together. My vote for tour of the year so far...

I hate buddyhead. They actually like The White Stripes. But they are correct this time. Although I give them props on their Juliana Theory revew.

"There are few groups of words in this world that when spoken, immediately have the effect of making me experience a gagging sensation. Spam sandwich... yes, this evokes this feeling. Yeast infection... right again. Emo/ska... you’ve sunk my battleship. But perhaps the mother of the most dirty and profane words in complete existence is The Juliana Theory. After seeing this band live for the first time, I felt dirty. As I stood and watched a very large group of people adoringly watch something so obviously evil, I finally comprehended what it must have been like to attend a Nazi convention in WWII era Germany. Masses of people cheered on this vile band just as multitudes of Germans naively cheered on Hitler"...Thats funny and true people.

Vendetta Red like owns the music choice channel for some reason. I think I have heard every song off of ther album, or at least 3 of them. And yeah, Buddyhead was very right on this one. Which is VERY rare.

I might have gone to see onelinedrawing... Far was an amazing amazing band and Jonah is very talented and entertaining. I don't like the other bands on this tour, but if other people choose to get enthused over them I'm not gonna piss on their party.

The man speaks the truth. And Vendetta Red is horrible. Seriously. They are with up there with Trapt as the current most generic crap rock band that Jesus ever farted out. I say current cuz the trend will probably end by next month and Vendetta Red and Trapt will both prolly show their true colors and start covering Tantric songs for a living.

Saw Movie Life in Philly. Thought they sucked. High energy, but poppy. Lacked, um, anything good. Something about trying to skank with 15 year olds slamming into you that doesn't make me very happy.

vendetta red is not my favorite band either but they are very hard working band and they did tour a lot (especially here in seattle) before getting signed to epic so why don't you keep your ignorant ass shut.

Are you serious? Mad Caddies, Rise Against, Real McKenzies and the Flipsides all sound absolutely nothing alike. No two of those bands are even comparable. What the fuck are you talking about? Ahh.. I get it you're just some dumb prick who likes to slag fat wreck chords with no clue at all.

i wish far would have never broken up... never even got to see them... but at least jonah is doing songs like bury white and everything... oh well... it would be an interesting show i guess...

as for vendetta red... i saw them open for hwm, didn't really like them... it seemed that the singer was trying his hardest to "look" the part of an "emo" lead singer... i have no problem when it comes out from the heart, but his act just seemed to be posturing... oh well... didn't hate them, but not a band i would go and see again...

i would like to see the movielife... i've heard they put on an amazing show...

Best shows youve seen huh? You need to die you trendy mall core bitch. And that shit band released one ep and their next release was on the major, so not only do you have bad taste in music but its obvious that you wernt blessed with intellegence.

This was definitely one of the best shows i've seen in a long time. (and Katie, you kick ass! :) luv ya, girl. I mainly went to see Vendetta Red because I think they are an amazing band and I'm sorry that you guys seem to disagree, because they are very talented and are the nicest guys I have ever met, and not just in a band. (oh and a response to the dumbass who doesn't know what he/she is talking about: Vendetta Red was signed to a major after releasing a couple albums...that's right...2...close to zero, yeah, but not quite. but thanks, asshole :) and to add on to that, I also don't see anything "typical" about them, like you're saying, but you almost sound like you know what you're talking about! (good luck with that). Anyway, I have to agree that Movielife's performance was far superior to their last one with Finch, and Jonah was fuckin great! That guy was pure entertainment. Awesome show! Go check it out if it comes around your way.

I went to this show in Philadelphia except there were some other horrible bands playing with the Movie life and One Line Drawing. I went for a friend, and I was incredibly impressed by One Line Drawing. He's a great guy, and inteligent. We left after Jonah got off stage, because you know, why ruin the night when you saw a great proformer? And he'll only be followed by the other two previous horrible ones?

I saw this tour in San Francisco last night, just for Jonah. I was a bit iffy about him touring with a band, but he was great as usual. Vendetta Red and the Movielife were blah. Except when Jonah came on stage during Movielife and did this hillarious dance. it was great.

This score is for Jonah.

Vendetta Red is absoulute crap. This band is the stereotypical big hair sing scream nonsense. Gotta love a band that gets signed to a major before even releasing a record.They opened for Hot Water Music in Cleveland in the fall and i kinda felt bad for the band bc people just walked away when they were playing.

Oh and a funny story about Jonah... At a show someone said emo sucks when he was talking, so Jonah called the guy out and asked him if the purchase of his ticket had given him the right to be a fucking asshole. He went on for a good 2-3 mins. Thats why Jonah is so cool.

I saw Vendetta Red on the Movielife fall tour with Brand New, and they were OK, definetly not as good as the other two, but I will say they are some really nice guys. They were real polite and appreciative of everybody and I left at least having a lot of respect for them.
