So I reviewed this band's "On Life; Living" EP a few months ago [readable here], and I remember just being completely baffled by Vaux. Their metallic post-artcore sound was one that was lost on my ears, and I really wasn't sure what to say about the CD. Now, the band is unleashing this, their debut full length on Volcom Entertainment, and I can say with very easy assurance that it's the best thing Volcom has ever been associated with. Why all of the sudden have my ears opened up more to this band? Two words - Blood Brothers. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
i love this cd. i think its great. lyrics are great, guitars rock and crunch with drive, and i love his screaming. I'm listening to this CD right now for the first time...It kicks some ass. I didn't realize we were rating the record label... You f*cking morons. VAUX is amazing. Bah. Rancid is good, I'll agree but buying all their albums isn't going to show you what "real music" is. I don't think I can trust someone who starts a wanna be hip-hop-punk band with Travis Barker and sells his song to a shampoo commercial. Rancid is awesome, but give it up. Oh yeah, Refused is far better than these guys. people are stupid.. Vaux is not that great of a band but it is something good to listen to when you wanna hear something different. I think you should just burn this CD instead of buying it cause u may or may not like it. i like this cd, but it didnt meet the hype surroudning it. its still a solid album. they have a good sound and theres no bad songs on it, although only a couple that really stand out. Fuckin A! The return of the almighty gongcore thread! Everyone knows that gongcore is where it's at. This actually reminds me a bunch of Refused.... Comment of the day award. See below. i'm working on sort of a post-hardcore punk art-rock emo-core sound with a reggae beat and psychobilly-esque reverb on the guitars. Alright, I agree "skeemo" is a shocker and beats "screamo"...ugh. lowe down there was talk about screamo being the worst genrename ever... waste, yes, afi and the casualties RULE!!!! sasscore indeed. how the fuck that crap get considered *amazing* and *a kick in the ass to a stagnant genre* is beyond me. for one, this is not hardcore, this is sasscore..and hardcore is not stagnant. sasscore as a genre can shrivel and die for all i care. it ain't punk, and go ahead and call me elitist, cuz ya know what..it just don't matter..this is shit any way ya look at it. i just saw the blood bros with afi and talk about weak. strutting and hair tossing everywhere in distressed jeans with a lil rump shakin on the side...gimmie a damn break people. oh well, at least it ain't emo...but if we end up with some emo-sasscore shit i think i'll have a coronary. "sasscore"???? vaux blows...and the blood brothers definitely suck throughout their entire album...and vaux is comparable to the blood brothers no-talent-ass-clown-core (which is another way to say "sasscore" i think) Here's a tip: thanks for the "cool" tip. since you know what's up maybe you can give me a few other hints . . . you must be a god. wow is that the same person or what? RaNcId PuNx, I really hope that you know that you are very smart and that without people like you we would not know the meaning of good music. GOOD JOB!!!! much respect!! to the comment below "Real Label" or not-I just saw their CD front and center in the Virgin Megastore on the New Release rack. Where is your CD sold? RaNcId PuNx, I really hope that you are getting kick backs from the band you keep promoting as payment for sounding like a total fucking idiot on EVERY review This band is just one of those screamy to singy and back again bands that use too many vocal effects. Musically it isn't bad.. if you're into this shit but, it's nothing I'd EVER buy.. or pay to see. Dont waste your money on these assholes~!!! If you want real Volcom isn't a real label.. I just can't consider it a real label.. sorry Weird... I saw Botch four times all the way from a basement to a club and they always had a light show.. the scary, pasty skinned, goth-dude with fishnet arm things ran them. this band doesn't interest me at all.. its non-melodic wannabecore bullshit. -Wow, someone likes dropping names. The 8 times I saw Botch, never did I see a light show. You sound like some bitter repressed kid that wants a Botch reunion. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, move on son. Vaux sucks ass, just like everything on Volcom, a bunch of morons trying to rip off good bands. Take the light show they stole from Botch, the volume they took from Angels Never Answer, mix in a desire to impress Cave In and the Blood Brothers with a singer who can't sing and you get Vaux. first off the last thing that vaux represents is denver. this band is a good representation of its members who are all trying too hard to be hip and elitist without fooling anyone. don't waste your time or money listening to this crap cause all the bands that vaux is trying to rip off are way better. I may have heard wrong, but isn't Turbonegro going to be doing something with Bottles and Skulls? Vaux is pretty cool. Hey Rancid, 1998 is calling. For a while Turbonegro were looking like the elitist band of choice. Now Rancid is the "tru punx" band of choice. Give me a break. I wonder how many of you bought that shampoo/body lotion/whatever because that shitty Transplants was song in the commercial. But this is about Vaux, this is actually a quite good CD. i heard of noise/noisecore years before i ever heard of screamo Rancid is a great band and they arent a clash rip off they just have a style similar to the clash(tims favorite band). So i agree with "RaNcId PuNx" Music has always been broken down into these sub genres. You wana be punk rockers think you can talk shit about bands without even knowing that genres (and their respective names) have been around for years. Grow the fuck up. i'm starting my own genre. its gonna be post-math-pre-art-semi-hard-emo-withatouchofska-core punk "But why waste your time spewing out ridiculous insults when pretty much every band you tear down is a hundred times better than you could be. At least they're trying to actually do something and make music." I have only heard two songs from this album and I have On Life: Living. This review is simply to see if you closeminded morons actually have intelligence. It's fine if you don't like this band...or any band for that matter. But why waste your time spewing out ridiculous insults when pretty much every band you tear down is a hundred times better than you could be. At least they're trying to actually do something and make music. Why don't you prove you have at least a little intelligence, and people wonder why the world is going to shit. Man I'm upset. "Why waste money on this? Go buy a Rancid CD!!! :D Then buy an unseen CD!!!! I don't understand how you see them as lame. I don't understand what bands you think are NOT lame and exciting. Our band played with Vaux last October and to date is one of the top live shows I've ever seen. Maybe you just don't like that kind of music. tame and then some. i had the misfortune of seeing them with the explosion and they were just terribly dull. if you call shaking your ass back and forth and swinging your mop top locks around extreme, well.....you need to get out more. sasscore? what the fuck? Why waste money on this? Go buy a Rancid CD!!! :D Then buy an unseen CD!!!! you want some post art-core?? how bout van gogh cutting his ear off. thats pretty art-core. Vaux is a complete sham. I saw them a couple months back with the Blood Brothers and you could tell that everything about them was put together to make them look rugged(the lead singer who looked like a janitor, and the guitarist who they forced to look like a member of Planes Mistaken For stars)They even had a guy who pretended to play guitar but really played the LIGHTS on the side of the stage. I think I smell a rat... I got some promo for this a few months ago....bleh. alt. press called a static lullaby's album "emo metal"...i thought that was pretty different This sounds pretty good. At this poiunt, I'm going to start calling Tubonegro "asscore." Post-artcore? noisecore? What the hell is noisecore? these terms just get dumber, although nothing will top "screamo" for shitness. I really liked the first ep...then I heard this, and now I am in love with these guys. This stuff must take some work. To El Vaquero: Man, I must be behind on the times. I wasn't even aware there was an "artcore" genre, let alone post-artcore. This is a really good record. Really good. Don't compare it to the Brothers. Anyway, I was talking about this and Since By Man's new record with some friends and I randomly said Noisecore and Chaos music in the conversation. I think that describes those discs. It's official the genre factory is dead, Scott just said, "post-artcore." I thought it was a joke. Denver represent! vaux kicks ass |
