It's been a mighty long time since the boys in The Alkaline Trio have played a club here in Orlando, this time around, in support of "Good Mourning" they have chosen the house of blues as the venue, the disney run establishment holds around 2,000, which that night, meant 2,000 trucker hats, dickies and studded belts. What has become of Chicago's former finest? Fuck you all! alkaline trio is the greatest band ever and they would kick your stupid bands ass! No, I remember this show, it was really bad! i know that this is just the writers opionion, but i really think that they went over the top with the way that they described the gig!! okay i guess it takes a girl to clarify. to everyone who thinks its stupid to complain how the new albums suck and complain that there are to many kids from hot topic... your just proving you know nothing about who alkaline trio really was and your ruining our shows. where we used to go and see people just like ourselves.. people who understand. you really dont get the music. the first albums were not just "faster music." they came from somewhere, from actual feeling. and for the people who really understand the music and relate to it, they know the new albums lack that aspect and its sad becuase once there was something there, you cant describe it but it was there. the pain the sorrow or THE FEELING or whatever, it was there and you could feel it. thats what alkaline trio was really about. the old albums were not just catchy tunes, they put something in you, feelings familiar to a small group of people that does not include people like you, or people who shop at hot topic. what a dick! what the fuck are you on about, saying they're trying to be spooky and how its new. if you actually knew their music and owned goddammit, you'd see that on the back their wearing face pain to like like ghouls, making the 'spooky' stuff quite old. Pretty girls make graves were tight, and alkaline trio rocked out pertty hard too. When they played up here, they played a long set consisting mostly of their older material. I'm pretty sure they only played no more than 3 songs of the lastest album. To say the least i enjoyed the show. Although I was thinking that maybe (hopefully) Matt just had food poisoning because he talked about how much it sucks during the show. Though somehow I do doubt how you can get that from popcorn... Whenever Pitch Black plays the Gilman they have lots of fire, smoke, and firecrackers - and that is why the keyboardist plays an intro, then "hides" - he is usually controlling the fog machine, or rigging up a perfectly times explosion. Their live show owns. whoa. i was at this show. i guess i need to check this site more often... hmmmmm. FUCK EVERYONE THAT LIKED THAT SHOW. it blew. get over it. its alright to cry when your kitty dies [i would, and unfortunately will someday :( ], but not when someone makes fun of your favorite band of the month. WOW. i hope nobody really thought this show was Fly. or boss. because it absolutely was not. so somebody needsto specifically make fun of me right after this and call me a poser . its standard procedure. bye I do agree that this new Alk3 tour isn't all that good. It's worth the $12.50 I paid, don't get me wrong... but I think it could've been much better. Leave the dead alone. The ghosts and the skeletons are tired of being cool. and satan is pissed too first you name some fake meat after him and now he is like this hip guy. in fact all the devils are angry too. the evil and the dead are through being cool. and stop wearing mesh baseball caps all together especially when they have pentagrams on them. how would you like it if all the truckers started wearing white studded belts? or all the ghosts had tattoos? i'm glad that they stole their song back from marilyn manson. he isn't nearly evil enough to be playing that shit. "WOAH you are from Downtown Orlando, Shit you may as well be from the Bronx" It was very odd at the show because everytime Skiba would stagger to the edge of the stage (frequently it was his only move) three 13 year old girls would give the 13 year old girl squeel and one would start going "You're a God, You're a God" Fucked up... I was at this show I thought it was cool how they ended it with an antischism cover.. that was cool. they played a lot of old stuff, not enough. but they played an adequate ammount of it. but i didnt get the opening with the music and the dark logo and then they came out of no where it was too much like a pop concert where the little girls are screaming with anticipation. i had a photo pass, i got hit on by a 12 year old in an atticus shirt while taking pictures, he was in the front row. so the trucker hat comment is completely accurate. "Yes, we are suburbanites. Are you from the rough and tumble part of Orlando?" Why must everyone of your reviews comment on the people at the shows and what they wear. We've been to the shows, we've seen the black t-shirts, we know who goes to these shows. I would submit a review of the DC Alk3 show but i don't know if it is too late or not I can't say I've ever seen Alkaline Trio live, but I saw them on Conan O'Brien and that performance was horrendous. pretty girls make graves is awful, listening to that music is enough to make someone want to kill themselves. alkaline was good in austin but the other 3 bands were crappy.....yeah, A3 does take along time to set up why is everyone who is into music so mean and jaded?...im from the chicago area..ive been listening to alkaline trio since goddamnit came out..im not going to pretend ive been into them since their first release..or talk about the times before dan joined the band to sound cooler than thou..because im not..and you wonder why people think indie kids are stuck up and mean...because they are!..you talk crap about people who dont look like you, there are too many "jocks" in the crowd?..does that make the music you're listening to different?..oh and by the way, realize that ripping on 'jocks' or 'hot topic kids' is the same high and mighty attitude you're supposedly vearing away from...we're supposed to love each other! thats what a music scene is all about..people coming together with the common love of music..wake up and be yourself and stop caring if you know someone who bought a bag at hottopic and didn't get their shirt for 60 cents at the salvation army..theres more to life than that...and yes..pretty girls makes graves do rock the house hard...and tuesday has been rumoured to be getting back together since tuesday broke up.not that i wouldn't enjoy that you stupid alk3 fucks piss me off. oh boo fuckin hoo, the reviewer didn't write what you wanted hear. it's an opinion, like i'm makin on your stupid ass. peace greases. liquid courage sweetie, not change. but yeah, alk3 sucks live and it's all about pgmg. don't be hatin'. However, like the review itself, I will not provide much insight on why I found this review less than entertaining. Don't get me wrong, I like good AK3, but this new shit (especially the live show) just doesn't get my dick hard. I just got back from their show tonight in houston..AMAZING. I met Matt and Derek afterwards and got pics with them, such nice guys....they put on such a good show and were extremely cordial and welcoming to the fans afterwards. Which is good, i hate when everyone is into a band that totally blows." I wrote a review about Alkaline in Toronto. They played like 6 of the new songs, which sounded pretty good. The intro music and how people look don't really matter, its how they play as a band. It's good to see that they still play a lot of shit from earlier albums cause thats what people really like them for. Also, does anyone know for sure if Matt does coke? I hear people say it alot but I assume they're just replaying what their friends told them. As a paralyzed person, the comment "a paralyzed person could have more stage energy" is very hurtful. I think i speak for paralyzed people everywhere when i say that just because we have lost movement in some of our limbs does not make us "worse" or "less energetic". I am in a punk band whose members are all paralyzed. I believe we have very much stage energy. They blew ass in Atlanta. Did you stay for the whole show, or just give up after two songs? When I saw alk3 in atlanta, they played cringe, nose over tail, maybe i'll catch fire, clavicle, lied my face off, snake oil tanker, cooking wine, and closed with 97. I couldn't have been happier, they only played a few new ones (yep, the first two) and they didn't waste any time with infirmiry songs. Sucks for the reviewer if he's being honest (but I doubt they would vary the setlist very much...it felt more like a greatest hits show than new-album-support). Sometimes a band isn't good anymore. That may seem like an obvious comment, but it takes some getting used to when it's a band you liked a lot in the past. So go ahead and get used to it about the alkaline trio. Decent review. I fully agree with how the Trio has gone downhill the last two albums. Living in Chicago, I feel I get to see them at there best. They were great last halloween, but they haven't been cutting it since. It's all the coke Skiba is doing. He just doesn't have as much energy and now he's taking vocal lessons for his dying voice. Poor Alkaline Trio. I was at this show.. Pretty girls make Graves sucked ass (in my opinion) and Pitch Black were just ok. However, Alkaline Trio put on a fantastic peformance. They only played like 4 new songs though..Most of the songs were from "goddammit" and "Maybe I'll Catch fire." which was very surprising and it made me happy. And since the crowd was so into The trio, it made the show awesome. Sorry but whoever reviwed this show should really pay more attention to whats really important about shows, The fucking Music. They key to a review is not to be objective. This isn't fucking 20/20. A review is someone's opinion, not the news. I actually like it when people tell stories and make their reviews interesting. Yeah, this review was a little bit on the complaining side, but I would have to agree with everything said in it. That was the second worst review I've ever read. What a bitch.
