So I'm still not sure what exactly Beer: The Movie is, but I think I have a grip on it's soundtrack. Of course, this isn't so much of a soundtrack as a mix tape for anyone from Long Island. When your CD compilation contains cuts from current northeasternscene backbones Taking Back Sunday and Brand New as well as stalwarts like the Movielife and Hot Rod Circuit [not to mention bands cut from the same cloth like Orange Island and Northstar], this disc plays out more like a summer road mix than anything else. all of these bands are terrible, triple crown records is a joke. this is the lamest thing beer has ever been associated with. Wow, really? I NEVER COULD'VE CAUGHT THAT OTHERWISE. you can tell the guy on the cover wears a "wife beater" in the sun. "The comp really flows well geographically, if nothing else, until the very last song." Atmosphere is from Minnesota. I have no idea how or why this was added to the soundtrack, it really makes no sense. This comp reads like a shitty mix tape someone from Long Island would make me. the new northstar song OWNS. it's not hard to rip just a section of the song, provided you have a decent ripper. i recommend CDex. it's a great piece of software, and it's open source, so it's got the endorsement of geeks everywhere. there's an option for "extract partial track". you can even use it to rip mp3s that span multiple tracks....which is useful to create one song out of the instrumental intro-following track combination that's fairly common nowadays. There was actually a movie called 'Beer: The Movie' in the 80's. It was actually kinda good if I recall correctly. I think scott has something against me, he seems to purposely not post my reviews anymore when he used to post 'em all the time. Oh well, just a random thought. And this album probably sucks, judging from the bands featured. scott, i'm really lazy yet i really want to hear that northstar song. so this is what you do. |
