i just want to add that i dont think liking or disliking the hoods cd should determine how you feel about someone, i personally like to think there is more to my identity than the top 10 bands i like. i think people should not take someone not being into something as a direct insult to them as a fan, when i say i dont like something im not usually even insulting the band, i dont expect bands to tailor there sound to my liking, and id rather see a band play something true to themselves instead playing the new buzz in "core" of that week even if im not really into what they are playing.

Im gonna have to agree with whoever said just because you dont like toughguy hardcore you are a pussy emo kid/fag. I would say my love for any tough guy stuff stopped with hatebreed. And i just find hoods boring. I see so much more going on in a band like throwdowns music even though i dont really dig that. I just like a little more diversity in my music, maybe even something a little more extreme. And i personally cant like a band just cause the singer does alot for the scene, I personally cant judge what i like musically based on a persons merit. alot I think what turns me off of tough guy stuff is the lyrics, i just cant relate to alot of the stuff. Its mostly stuff about bustin heads or some brotherhood crap, I dont go out looking to fight people and i have friends but so does everyone its not the focal point of my life.

Well this isn't "pro-tooled screaming" hardcore. But Black Flag does kill it. But then again, Black Flag kills most things.

I'd hate to sound like an old man (I'm not), but in honesty, Black Flag would have destroyed any of these pussy bands. Now that's hardcore, not this "I'm tough I have shitty sounding protooled screams."

Add a bunch of Indecision bands like Unbroken, Count Me Out, Automatic, and Kill the Messenger(anyone know if that band is still around?) to the list as well.

Eh, I'd rather listen to American Nightmare(I'll keep calling them that), Bane, Ten Yard Fight, Sick of it All and a whole host of other bands before this.

Kids who listen to music "inspired by hardcore" (ie. metalcore, emo, indie...) should not pretend to try and understand our music, This record was recorded for kids who live and breathe hardcore, not those who come and go with fads. It didnt appeal to you because mike didnt wright it for you, in fact we are releved you dont like it. we (hXc kids) promis to stay out of your "scene" and you all can stay out of our lives.

"Tough Guy" hardcore isn't hardcore, because acting like a "tough guy" is usually just facade put up to cover insecurities and self doubt. These "hardcore" guys flexing their egos and never their minds. Hardcore is about anger, but not brainless anger.

Tough-guy metal-tinged hardcore has been done to death, but so has Victory's new craze of pop-punk (people call it emo, but it's not. it's pop-punk. ask Heroin if it's emo, asshole. ask fucking guy picciotto).

of course if an emo kid with dirty diapers listens to a hardcore album he won't like it. i don't have dirty diapers and i don't like Rufio or whatever. victory is going to shit. the hoods are one of the few remaining good bands on the label. emo kids are selfish they just bitch and moan about their problems and shit they don't like. eat some brass knuckles and write a song about the plastic surgery that you had to undergoe inorder to repair your pretty little face. that would be something to cry about.

first off, i listen to hardcore. i just think its a pity that the majority of the great bands of the genre have died, and that we are now left with this... the fact that the band doesnt pretend to be doing anything inspirational or even intelligent doesn't mean that they are worth liking or even listening to.

if the singer does good things for the scene, thats cool. the fact that his band is lame isnt. but whatever... i could be wrong.

really, it comes down to this, most of the kids commenting are norcal kids (i.e., hoods local crowd) and you don't know what this band, and especially mike hood does for our scene (runs a venue, puts out records, etc.) and how much pride we put behind this band.it may not be your thing, but really, blasting a record that isn't even the kind of music you'd usually listen to is rediculous (just like me trying to spell that word). we're just sick of all the "hydrahead","intelligent", post-everything bands getting all the credit, when no hardcore kid that's even worth the air he breathes would be caught dead listening to that ferret style (or whatever-the-fick) bullshit.fuck all the art metal, the tech guitar and the off-key emo singing that's been done to the point of sickness. hoods are survivers of a generation that's mostly faded away. respect that. what they are doing may not be ground breaking, but they're not pretending that it is, in turn the audience respects that nothing's being pulled over them. it's very upfront, no bullshit, and that's why it's worth appreciating.

i think the review was good, and i would like to hear some of the people claiming this is a great record and that the "hoods fucking own" explain what exactly it is about this band that makes them worth a shit. i have an open mind, and i'd like to be convinced... i just dont see it happening.

The Hoods are a terrible band. The only reason they got a deal with Victory at all is because they had friends in other bands on Victory, and Tony didn't have the sac to say no to them after he tried to aviod the issue for nearly 2 years. That's your ticket everyone, bother Tony enough and you're likely to get a contract if you don't seem to go away.
