| Brownie Points / Murphy's Kids / Stuck Luckylive in Deland, FL2003 live show Review by: Independent_ink See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on July 1st 2003
It isn’t often when you go out to a local show that you actually enjoy all of the bands playing. Unfortunately, I must admit, I did miss one of the bands on tonight’s bill. So, I will be reviewing the other 4 bands that I was able to catch: Las Cabriolas, Stuck Lucky, Murphy's Kids, and Brownie Points. All of these bands, except for Brownie Points are on tour currently for the Southern Ska Tour. This was also the only show on the tour featuring all 3 of the bands that were on the tour. guess what, so is my money http://www.trinitytc.com/888/casino-directory-2005.html Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit is a kick ass Ska musician. The next LB record will be a departure from RapMetal and be more about third wave SKA. Ska Rules! in truth, asob is punkskaemohardcore For some reason, I am on the Brownie Points mailing list and have been for about a year. I've never bothered checking them out, though. "wow, who plays ska? i thought we were on to emo now." How are Brownie Points any more hard working than any other bands? The difference is, other bands do scene supporting things like, say, play an awards show entirely dedicated to the local punk scene instead of playing some useless show at Will's on the same night. Everyone I know who's met Brownie Points say they are assholes and regardless of that, their music is terrible. I personally think that Ryan Murphy is a cock sucker who does more damage to the local scene by talking shit about hard working bands... wow, who plays ska? i thought we were on to emo now. you want good local ska, check out ASOB (see mp3.com for..yeah...i'm lazy) the ataris played at happy daze once...sometimes I go to happy daze and it's cool, other times it sucks...this time probably woulda been pretty cool but I didn't go cuz I had to work so it sucked. You like Brownie Points? I personally hate their music because their songs are boring and drab and the horns are completely excessive, but they're also assholes who do more damage to the local scene than good. And I don't know what you're saying about it not being a place for 30 year old punks to screw around with the kids, the last time I went there it WAS the 30 year old punks in the pit while all the kids were sitting down on the couches. Was the stoned guy with dreads there trying to do his rap? |
