I can summarize this album in one word: underrated. After hearing their first single "Get Over It", many people passed the band off as another blink-182 clone, but this is simply not true. It's nothing like that. Ok Go's debut self-titled album is full of catchy choruses, crisp guitars, spot-on keyboarding, and true lyrics. While the album does include a lot of punk sensibilites, this is much more of a power pop/rock album with a very retro feel. Please login or register to post comments. This album is v. catchy.. Regarding my blink-182 reference: that cover art is terrible. I dont get why these guys could be compared to blink.Maybe its the voices in your head but anyway these guys arent to bad and even tough i wouldnt spend my money on this album i would listen to them. they arent punk tho..why are there so many godamn reviews on bands that arent punk. This is a a punk site and i think there should be more punk reviews. I just bought this...It fuckin' rules! these guys arent terrible, and some of their songs are actually fantastic, such as return and especially dont' ask me. the harmonies and chorus' are really catchy and good. the singer has a solid voice too. but most of their songs are boring and dorky/lame. get over it, so damn hot , and 1000 miles are the only otehr good songs. the rest are either filler to terrible, but theres much worse bands out there This cd stinks like newborn baby shit. Anybody see the Alkaline Trio video for "We've Had Enough"? That video sucks almost as bad as this cd. i don't know one person who said ok go was anything like blink 182. this album does kick ass, though "Of course, their album sucks compared to their first EP, but still, it's better than this sunny-day boring pop crap" Q101 and this song make me sick. It never ended "The respectable keyboarding really brings a sense of individuality to the music. It adds great rhythm and melody to each song it's present in--which is all of them" i like the song, theres a fire but i dont know. they aren't too original. they are good at what they do. but innovative they aren't. good pop record though. How on earth does "Get Over It" resemble Blink 182 in any way? "Please don't tell me you like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs..." hmm........i'm not sure if i like this band or not.....i checked out the songs up on the webpage and they were half catchy and half trite crap....guess i gotta get the cd and find out in the long run if i like it or not... Word to Ramo. This song is on the Madden 2003 soundtrack, and it fucking grates on my brain every time it comes on. I usually just have to mute the TV as soon as the game starts up so I won't have to hear it, along with the other god awful shit they put on there. I mean, has anybody heard that "Suk It Up" song by (hed)PE? That makes these guys AND the yeah yeah yeahs look like musical geniuses. Some label execs must've got John Madden to drop his doors and let them deliver a favor or two to get their fucking shitpile bands on that game (picture that one). They used instrumentals from Mos Def and Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek on 2002, which was pretty sweet. Hopefully 2004 takes a turn back for the better... somehow I don't have much hope though. I have no idea HOW this guy ever got the impression they were a blink-182'ish band. Or a punkish band at all. They're mod-rock. They're kind of boring. I saw them live once ... their best song was a cover. who thought this was a blink 182 clone?? I don't understand the correlation between this band's music and blink 182's music. Not that either of them are good but they sound nothing alike, OK Go has a much more rock sound than blink "sure sucks when your single is the best song you have" i heard just one song of theirs in Madden 2003. it's ok if you like catchiness but it suddenly wears off. I like how hundreds of shitty pop rock bands get good reviews on this site, each one saying that it is "underrated" or that it sticks out from the herd of other shitty pop rock bands. i didn't even read the review, just the comments. this band is horrible. thats right. i dont have any reason. ive heard their song like twice. this band sucks dick. this is my opinion. dont bitch. Don't ever compare this shit to Superdrag or Elvis Costello again...thanks. Who reviews this crap? I absolutely love this album. I've been listening to it since it came out and haven;t begun to get tired of it. It's lots of fun, and incredibly catchy and upbeat. They do what they do and don't try to be anything else, you have to give them credit. I bought this when it came out. While I believe it's better than most stuff on the radio, I haven't listened to it since the week I bought it. It's not good. Please don't tell me you like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs... Hahaha. You losers jump all over the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but you like this shit? Shame on you. Pop-rock sucks these days. But the single was okay. Based on "Don't Ask Me", which happens to be an EA Tracks title, this album is, well, awful. The whole song just annoys me to no end. this band was a failed attempt at cashing in on the indie craze. eddie where the hell have you been? someone needed to fill the void left by wussemorock and contrary to popular belief i did not apply for the spot This album is so much fun it hurts. An excellent summer disc. |
