This isn't so much news as it is me trying to get other opinions. Millencolin's new EP, "No Cigar", on Epitaph is nothing new. The CD contains no new material whatsoever. It's simply one song from the album (No Cigar) with the two singles and the 7 combined songs on those (Fox and Penguins & Polarbears singles). Basically it's two of their CDs packaged together as one and resold with a new cover. They also features a multimedia track with the videos for Fox and Penguins & Polarbears (more on this later). The only other difference here is it's released on Epitaph in America, whereas the two singles were released on Burning Heart only, and not picked up by Epitaph. They were imports, but were by no means difficult to find. To me this seems like a way for Epitaph to cash in on these songs that they didn't pick up before. I'm really dissapointed in Millencolin.

What I AM excited to get is the upcoming Millencolin/Midtown split released on Burning Heart and Drive-Thru (NOT Epitaph), which has the song No Cigar (again), plus a NEW song Black Eye. Also included is the long version of Buzzer, which was on the Millencolin home video, but I'm still happy to have a CD version nonetheless. What else? The videos! Final analysis: the No Cigar EP is completely useless.

I'm interested in reading other people's thoughts on this...

True, this album offers nothing new. But, 8 bucks for a couple videos, two live(!!!!) songs and a couple old songs is defintely worth it. If you're already a Millencolin fan, this is an EP to savor, if not, this will get you hooked.

I'd like to get the australian No Cigar if I could, but will settle for the Millencolin/Midtown split, which has the same songs. Damn Australians...Millencolin released a single for Twenty-two only in Australia a while back, but it was the same tracklist as the Lozin' Must single, but with the Lozin' Must replaced with Twenty-Two, for censorship reasons.

If you check www.millencolin.com you will find that the No Cigar release is different for international areas. In the states, it is sold as an EP, which i agree is completely useless, given the tracklisting.
Yet here in australia it is being marketed as a single and has the songs "Black Eye" and "buzzer" that would normally be available on the MidTown split. This single does not contain the other songs however. ("Buzzer" (extended version) was previously available on a limited edition MCD that came with the first 2000 copies of the MillenColin Hi-8 adventures video)

I disagree with the one hit wonder comment. Life on a Plate and For Monkeys were full of great songs...I couldn't really find a bad song on either. If they were to be one-hit wonders, they could have chosen a better song. I personally don't see why they keep putting No Cigar on things, like the new Tony Hawk game, it's one of my least favourite from their new(est) cd.

I too felt this CD had very little to offer and I made similar comments in my own review of the CDEP at my website
http://www.punkinternational.com. I don't have the singles from this EP, but I do have the Pennybridge Pioneers CD, and three new songs to my ears does not justify the purchase of this CD. Even the two videos I have seen on TV and they're not hard to find on the net. I think Millencolin is becoming somewhat of a one-hit-wonder, with songs like "No Cigar" appearing on three releases in a row...
