The album that put Christian pop-punk band Relient K on the map, The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek gives just what their fans want: spirited, uplifting pop songs with punchy guitars and sing-along anthems. But is that a good thing?

While this is a decent effort from the band, there's no use fighting the fact that this is the same stuff we've had over and over from band after band: catchy songs about 80's girls performed by pretty boys in Chuck Taylor's.

But even though I know that, I'm still able to fully enjoy Midtown and Sugarcult, but not Relient K. Probably because RK offers absolutely nothing new, and actually ruins the formula that "works" for every Simple Plan out there. RK can't seem to stop with uninspired vocals and annoying repetition within all their songs.

The album includes a whopping seventeen tracks, but it still feels so empty when you get to the end. The only truly good songs on this album are "Pressing On", "I'm Lion-O", "Breakdown", and "May the Horse Be With You". Other than that, I couldn't care less about the other songs. It's just boring repitition. But I give them credit for being a positive influence on today's youth and having more integrity than blink-182.

Relient K is an awesome band. They follow Jesus, but they do not stress it in every song. They have some fun songs like "Sadie Hawkin's Dance."

"once you hear getting into you you'll have a different view, i promise." You're definitely right about that! When I heard Two Lefts CD the first time I listened to it straight through and really didn't pay that much attention but then I couldn't stop playing Getting Into You over and over again. It's so pure and straight-up

are you guys nuts? rK was formed around eh 97 when they released their first album, "all work and no play" long time before sum 41 and everyone else. then in 98 they switched to gotee records and released their first album with them, self-titled. then of the anatomy album came along, followed by two lefts in march of 2003...by the way, theyre the best. brian pittman (bassist) oohf hes sexy. once you hear getting into you you'll have a different view, i promise.

Yeah, I think you're probably right because wasn't half of Simple PLan in Reset until 2000 or 2001? So they probably were either formed around the same time as Relient K or later (I don't really know when RK formed).

Bluetune - Ah, you're right, I was thinking of their S/T for some reason.

I used to like this band before I got into good music. They're huge on the Christian market, and that's who they're aimed at. I like a couple of their stupid songs just because I like a dumb laugh every now and then. Still, catchy crap.

spaztic the songs he mentioned are definetely on this cd, which to agree with most of the comments kinda sucks. the one halfway decent song on here rips off sum 41, which ain't exactly something to be proud of.

I got this CD a long time ago and wasn't too impressed either, though you have to admit some of it is catchy stuff. My only gripe is that the reviewer is a fucking idiot because all of the songs you mentioned that you enjoyed aren't on that CD, it's on the CD they released after this one.

I try to support these guys, since they are from Ohio and all, but a lot of the songs on all their albums don't do it for me. Apparently, you must have 2 acoustic songs on every punk album. It's an unwritten rule or something.
