The Teen Idols were one of the first punk bands I ever discovered completely on my own. At the disaster area that was the Chicago Warped Tour stop in 1997, I purchased the Honest Don's Welcome Wagon compilation for something like two dollars. I immediately fell in love with almost every single song on the disc, and while even though I never really explored past that disc with a good majority of those bands, the Teen Idols' "Lovely Day" always stood out for me. After receiving their self-titled disc from my brother for Christmas in 1997, I fell completely in love with the band's pogo-punk gems like "One Pill," "Porno Shop," and "Anybody Else." not that great of a cd, but the band was awesome. I miss them already. At least well always have thoose nights of crazy rampant poop And here I always thought people has X's on their hands because they liked porn...thanks for explaining what it REALLY meant This score is for not liking songs that fade out. Bands don't fade out live, and the ones I've seen try it always sound terrible doing so. Knock that shit off. "Backstabber" is a fantastic song though. That was the tune that got me wet for this new album, but it just turned out as a big dissapointment. It's just not the Teen Idols that I knew. im going to have to disagree with the majority of you here. i really like nothing to prove and would probably rate it as my favourite of their releases. id also have to rate another time as one of my all time favourite songs too Yeah, I always thought the name rip off was kinda lame. Plus the 99 Red Balloons cover they used to play live was already done by 7 Seconds. Then Goldfinger decided to do it too... How about bands at least try to cover songs that haven't already been covered a million times? www.street-dogs.com there new record savin hill is out september 23 "eat a fat cummy dick you pile of dogshit fucker" okay....i bet less than half the people who think they are punk or whatever even knew this...or knew the origin of XXX...they all think it is some kind of trend...oh yeah, eat a fat cummy dick you pile of dogshit fucker Thank you, Captain Obvious. Yeah, Ian Macaye started that whole XXX thing just from a song and then people ran with it and made it hostile, violent, and plain out rediculous...Oh yeah, those X's are from when kids under 21 had to get a X on their hand to show they can't drink at clubs back in the 80's matey! Yeah, except they spelled the name Teen Idles. Wasnt that the name of Ian Mycayes (thats wrong) band way back in the early 80's before he formed Minor Threat?? perfect review, exactly what i would say. i too got into the teen idols 6 yrs ago from getting the honest dons sampler at warped tour 97, i too love the comp. i ordered teh self titled album, and to this day i'd put it in my top, well lets say 30 punk albums, it would come in around 25. it is nearly perfect, its so catchy, great harmonies, short songs, the energy just grabs any fan. and the whole old school vibe to them is great. am i the only person who finds their name to be shockingly irritating? I was actually going to sacrifice myself to buy Audio Karate tickets just to see the Teen Idols at the Chain Reaction. But since you said they didn't showed up, Thank goodness I didn't. Seriously, this break up sucks. This album is ok...pucker up is still my favorite...so far away is a bad ass song Oh man, i thought this was another warped tour review! don't have enough of them! Hmm... That would explain why they didn't show up at the Audio Karate show last night at Chain Reaction. I was really looking forward to see them live, but no luck. Too bad, it might have made up for River City Retards insulting and spitting on the crowd. i like the 20 line intro for an average cd. great fuckin band! i hope they don't break up or...aww fuck "20 Below" is the only song I can remember off Pucker Up!, except for the title track. It's really not too memorable. I've heard the Teen Idols through thier first release, but I really thought "Pucker Up!" was a way more kick ass album than the S/T. I thought that record showed thier true talent in vocalization, like "Test Tube Babies", "Now And Then", and "20 Below"....those songs were great. NO WAY! Where'd you hear that!? Too bad they fucking broke up. |
