Published on September 19th 2003

In 7th grade, I remember kids proclaiming "The Mark, Tom And Travis" Show as the best live album ever, they cited Blink 182's middle school humor and "edgy" choice of language as the reasons. However if I could travel back in time, I would beat the shit out of them and hand them "Dillinger Four: Live?".

You see, the story goes that Bad Brains cancelled, leaving D4 to play a full club. Oddly enough, the album starts with Patrick playing the message that H.R. left on the club's machine. After a few funny jokes from the guys, they run right through "Our Science is tight". More jokes and Spinal Tap references are made and they play a plethora of songs off "Midwestern Songs for the Americas" and "Vs. God". The album seems to translate all of the fun of going to a D4 show, portraying the humor and drunken stabs at playing songs. One problem I have is everyone but Paddy's vocals, while his vocals are dominant, loud and clear, the rest of the band's vocals just seem weak.

Throughout the CD, they call H.R. (who doesnt pick up), The drummer from Boston and Fat Mike. (By the way, they give out H.R.'s number on here, they block out the area code, but we're not dumb). Absent from this album is any song off of "Situationist Comedy" which was recorded after this CD was recorded.

If you are looking for tight musicianship, amazing production and an overall great set, buy the new Led Zeppelin live disc or DVD. If you're looking for fun and everything else you're gonna want this one. (Robert Plant can't tell a joke anyway).

I was at this show. They raided "soul" brains' dressing room, and stole the salad H.R. and the gang had apparently requested be waiting for them. Then they threw that salad at the crowd. I got hit in the head with lettuce. Fun times.

Dillinger Four will always be one of my all time favorites. All though I still haven't heard Situationalist Comedy. D4 lives on in another fucking awesome album. And remember kids CRACK ROCKS!

i also think situationist comedy was great, i think i would begrudgingly put the other cds each ahead of it, but i think its a great cd. this one is coming tomorrow or tuesday and im excited about it.. d4 rules

p.s. that last thing "steakhouse" said was right on the mark, why arent we happy and encouraging to people who find punk instead of being such dicks? amen

I've yet to hear this album. But to the people that said 'situationist comedy' was a piece of garbage, I think it's fucking awesome. But what do I know, I'm under the age of 21, thus making my opinion invalid. The thing that's amusing is that most of you guys ripping on the person who reviewed this cd are probably 18 or 19, like it's that big of a deal that he's 17. And only people in 10th grade are immature enough to say "stupid 9th grader" like you're that much better than them because they were born after you. I will duct tape all of you to your beds and burn your houses down.

    love, Mark

Well, I would review the Chaotic Dischord CD over, but for one I don't think that a second review of a CD nobody on this site really cares about is warranted, and for two, I sent out a second review of the Subhumans "the Day the Country Died", to counter the ignorant one that plagues our archives, and that was about a month ago.

BSD, I don't think anyone else wanted to review Chaotic Dischord. I'll listen to just about anything, so it got sent to me. Oh well.

If anyone ever wants this site to cover bands they like, it's as easy as writing your own review. Sure, some of us get CDs sent to us to be reviewed, but anyone can submit a review. This site is special because the content is almost completely dictated by the users.

Although I disagree with some of that, I do think that there needs to be at least a little screening on these reviews... I mean, these people obviously don't listen to much real music, which basically makes their reviews worthless... I mean, no shit some guy who likes techy hardcore like Shadows Fall and Shai Hulud isn't gonna like Chaotic Dischord...

This poster who should be right below me is the ultimate in retardosity. I like that Small Brown Bike song that goes "Grow with time, not with age." He's got all these pointers on how Punknews.org, a site that's review system is written almost entirely by outside contributions, should somehow tell their contibutors to be older? More experienced? More into hardcore? You are the dumbest motherfucker on this entire line of complaints about this guy's age. For one thing, you were at least the fifth or sixth person to make a "clever" comment about it. Way to come in at the peak of that joke's hilarity. Now make sure to do a Costanza-like exit, please.

If you've got a problem with the CONTRIBUTIONS this site receives, WRITE YOUR OWN GODDAMN REVIEWS YOU ARROGANT FUCK. If you've got so many great ideas about how this site can be better, you'd do better to have your thoughts in the "review" field instead of the "comment" field. Goddamn. What makes your post even more ridiculous is just the fact that it's so outrageously ridiculous.

D4 are great and I'm sure this live album is good, but christ this web site needs from revamping and better direction.
