A couple months ago I found myself entering The Mad Frog in Clifton to interview Death In Graceland, and catch a couple of local rock acts as well. Our interviewees were booted from the bar as soon as their set ended, because of the extreme rock they brought, so the next few hours was spent on a street corner interviewing a partially naked band that was drunk as skunks... but i digress. And Break Your Face Fest as well as Debunkfest and Cincypunk Fest II... The Unseen and Pistol Grip as well The area didn't seem much more different than bogart's Don't forget The Methadones, The Distillers(before they sucked too!), Thought Riot, Whatever It Takes, Much The Same, and Tub Ring Lawrence Arms and Swinging Utters-- both those shows would have probably been at The Void considering The Void hosted Taking Back Sunday, Starting Line, Yellowcard, Something Corporate, The Goodwill, Mustard Plug, Allister... nlah blah blah.. There's a lot of us cincinnatians on here, eh? Like the Lawrence Arms? that's bull shit, and Youth Brigade/Swinging Utters? more bullshit the void needs to come back because im sick of 18 shows that would have normally been at the void... although seeing the voodoo glow skulls at jillians is an experience i wont forget, that place is sweet wow, harmonious singing mixed with screaming? i've never heard music like that before! rumors about the void? yeh, bands used to get beat down there sometimes, b/c it is a shitty neighborhood. i wanna leave cuz it seems that God has placed some sort of curse on this area that forces everyone that lives here to be bound to here, it's sad i've heard soo many rumours about that place...the most believable is the around the corner one why do you want to leave cincinnati? wait, wasn't their old name parker? could check on the void's website but...it's down Andy, the lead singer with the shaved head, used to be in the legendary Cincy band named Koan.... not sure about the other guys. These guys were really good when i saw them, i dont remember who i saw them with but it was at the void. I thought they rocked man, death in graceland, harley quin , and now junior revolution, cincinnati representin'. This band is super catchy and puts on a great live show. Playing with Army of Ponch at Top Cats in Cincinnati on Sunday.... Army of Ponch was damn impressive last time I saw them... $5 I believe at 8 pm |
