It was no lie that Anti Flag wanted to give back to their fans on this tour. The venue they played this time around was a small bar called Top Cats with a capacity of about 300. The stage was a foot high, a backstage was non existant and the lighting, well there really wasn't any...but none of that matters because this is the perfect place for a punk show.

Pipedown went on first and was mediocre at best. The vocalist screamed his head off and drowned out the rest of the band. The crowd had virtually no reaction either. Next was Thought Riot, and they began to get things going. The sound guy finally got the PA working right and TR got a decent pit started. The crowd favorite seemed to be the song "The Patriot" in the middle of their set. These guys (and girl) were perfect openers for an AF show and the crowd seemed to like them. Paint it Black was third, and they could be described as an early Black Flag sound. Some spoken vocals, plus the singer even looked a little like Rollins. They got the whole floor moving and set a perfect mood for AF.

Around 10 Justin, Chris, Chris #2, and Pat emerged from the crowd and set up. I can't remember what the opening song was called, but it was an older one. They followed with Police Brutality and Tearing Everything Down. The sound was awesome and they did a good job of mixing some new songs into the set and teaching the chorus to the crowd to make the songs that much better. New ones included Power to the Peaceful, Fuck the Flag, You Can Kill the Protester..., and Rank n File. The rest of the set was mostly off Underground Network and New Kind of Army. 911 for Peace was a nice surprise as well.

They closed by playing A New Kind of Army, Underground Network, the new opening track Turncoat, and of course Die for Your Government. After the show, all the guys hung around to talk with everyone and sign autographs. On the way out, everyone got the special edition of the new cd for free, and I must say it is almost as good as the show. Another plus was all the merch at the show was under $10 (besides hoodies). Definitely the best show I have seen in Cincy so far.

this was a great show and they opened with "no borders, no nations." i think someone may have already said that though. top cat's is a great venue. the people were dicks on a few occasions but hey....no venue is perfect. all the bands rocked. i disagree with the reviewer about pipedown. they weren't as good as thought riot, paint it black, or anti-flag, but that doesn't mean they weren't good. great show though. i had a lot of fun.

They should've had an empty hole for justin sane to fall through once again. Hopefully, this time the rest of Anti-Flag can join him and let's pray they don't come out.

I had a seething hatred of Anti Flag before I heard 911 for Peace but after, it grew a thousand times. That song is shitty in every sense of the word and sounds like some kind of weird Carpenters/hippie shit.

donkey punch refers to the sexual maneuver in which, during anal sex, the person who has their dick in the other person's butt punches them in the back of their head as they orgasm. it sounds like a donkey, or something.

Rocking show, Anti-Flag was awesome.. and I was never much of an Anti-Flag fan until recently, their new album is insanely good and anyone who thinks they suck needs to take a good long listen before ever saying so again.

I know I'm not on staff or anything, but I'm sure the explanation would go as follows...

There's usually room on the sidebar to only mention the last three bands that played at any given show. Regardless of who played the best set, the order determines the title.

I went to this in Providence, but didn't review it solely for the fact that I wouldn't have been able to give song titles for the first three bands. Maybe it's just me, but I think A LOT of people on this site would care to know just what off CVA was played.

I went to this show convinced to pick up CVA, actually, and wasn't too impressed by PIB. They're furious, hard, energetic, sure, but something wasn't clicking with me. And I don't think it was an off-night because they definitely had some people dancing and Dan did go shirtless halfway through as I hear he will. Although, he was having severe mic problems for the first few songs, but I doubt that would be the source of my discomfort. Oh well, t-minus 3...2...1...bashing.

Oh, and it was nice to see A-F completely rearrange the set order from when I'd seen them a few months earlier. TR and Pipedown were good too I thought.

I was at this show as well. It was funny when Anti-Flag managed to catch a moniter on fire after only one song on stage. Then came #2's great comment. "We're too punk for moniters. Do you know who is not punk? People who use moniters" comedy, political issues, and kick ass music throughout the whole set. One of my favorite shows of the year, easily
