![]() | Lostprophetslive in Glasgow2003 live show Review by: Mr_Ian See others by this writer official site (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on November 14th 2003 OK, so last time you were here your band couldn't even half fill the barrowland, not exactly the largest venue in the world (although, according to many bands - the best) and it's been a year since you released a note of new material. The fanbase you thought you had turned out to be rather small, perhaps put off by the fact you are one of the most arrogant bands on the planet and viewed by many as nothing but pretty boy posers. This is only the second gig you've played in months. How do you start your set to thank those fans who have patiently waited for our Welsh heroes to return? Do you *A* Start the set with one of your thunderously catchy post hardcore meets nu-metal songs, perhaps even one of the 'hits'? or *B* Play not one, but TWO new songs no-one has ever heard before? Answer: what the hell do you think? This is the Lostprophets we're talking about here... We should hate them. How could they be so arrogant as to play new songs when we all payed our money (and quite an expensive ticket too for such a wee venue) to see the hits? Well...when the new songs are so fucking good the energy levels in the room were almost higher than for more established songs, that's how. Gone are the nu-metal scratchings of before as DJ Jamie Oliver now concentrates on screaming and keyboards. This has evolved the 'prophet's sound and made them more 'mature' sounding almost. They played six or seven new songs in what was roughly a 15 song set, that's a helluva lot of new material but as previously stated - it was damn good. Of course, the best songs of the night were the blistering shinobivsdragonninja and the new single and set closer 'Burn Burn' which closed the set and featured the two support bands (local band 7 Stone Lighter, who weren't too bad in a sub-Finch sorta way and Eden Maine who came across as a heavier Converge, which is fine if you like that sort of thing) on backing vocals. It was a fitting way to end what was a pretty revelatory night. in the past month in the exact same venue I have seen Coheed & Cambria, Million Dead, Further Seems Forever, Thursday and Funeral for a Friend. Shockingly, the Lostprophets outshone them all - the boys done good. as a little end note, I met Lee from the 'Prophets after the show and he seemed like a thouroughly nice bloke - goes to show you can't believe all you read.

Christ, handbags at thirty paces there ladies. You're deaf or an idiot. You are a lost cause man. Computers dont help record music. they are a shortcut. A means to an end. A way for doing what you cant do, rather then learning how to do it. And I can honestly tell you that protools solo performance in my record collection is Thrices new CD. And its the element that bogs it down the most. Pro tools could be used effectively, but musicians are just lookin for a quick buck now, so until I hear a proper representation, rather then just some guy skipping out on his musical duties, then im right and your just a confused ignorant asshole. i can't believe that no one made a "lost profits" jokes. "Yeah and because its new and excepted and everyone uses it, it is automatically correct right? NO WAY some old archaic recording process that actually requires talent could be involved in good music right? I can't think of anyone else i'd rather see live! This review is good, but here's how I would make it better: dumb asses, the album is online. download it. it is good shit Yeah and because its new and excepted and everyone uses it, it is automatically correct right? NO WAY some old archaic recording process that actually requires talent could be involved in good music right? "And if that shit isnt overproduced, you have never heard music before. Theres this thing called analog. Give it a whirl, and you might understand that music is sometimes NOT altered by computers! Its true! Actually, one might say that good music is raw, and full of emotion, rather then pro-tool effects and topsy turvy hope diggys. Yeah. All that stuff the person below said. There good people. Ummm...I'm pretty sure 7 stone lighter supported the lostprophets, cos Funeral For a Friend were supported by Million Dead and...ah, shit...I can't remember, maybe it was 7SL. Anyways, who cares? To the dude who said something along the lines of "the only good music is raw" is being pretty elitist, as lots of great albums have been very 'produced' it just so happens that the year best album (in my opinion I hasten to add)was recorded on analog (Lawrence Arms' new one). PS the first version of the Lostprophets album was essentially a demo and is the one I have so there isnt the shiny nice production that there is on the US version, so I don't know how 'overproduced' they are cos the original is pretty fucking raw. If Funeral for a Friend played this show, I think a lot of people would've been interested to hear a bit more of a detailed description of their set...well, I would've anyway. What the hell is wrong with you Seven Stone Lighter didnt even support lost prophets youre thinking of funeral for a friend i didnt post the antagoniser, but have to point a few things out. I think the only one with low intelligence is you my incredibly slow friend. Apex theory doesnt have a dj now that I think about it, but they have the most stab worthy singer ever. "all these reasons also apply to the Apex theory. Except they also have the annoyance of having a singer you want to stab rather then listen to." Oh? Are you trying to tell me that this band isnt trying to be Incubus? Lets take a look at the facts! havent heard this album but the last one was pure generic nu-metal - it was simple yet well produced. i dont mind hearing them in clubs but they have absolutely no place on this website - nor did they at deconstruction. To the guy from Glasgow - fuck off mate, there's a load of different types of music on this site (regardless of it's "punk" roots, even though I bet you don't even know what that means) and the 'prophets are a post hardcore band, they just used to have a DJ. Where's the rappin in their songs, dipshit? Nu-metal is RAP METAL, dumbass. Oh and I might as well not come from the same city as you, you pompous little git - West end boy are you? Cock. East End Hard Core! *ahem!* sorry bout that... "The apex theory and this band are the same fucking band. they both want to be Incubus. Unfortunately, even Incubus forgot how to be Incubus a long time ago, so it seems they all be shit outta luck." you have to be kidding me. get off this site with your stupid nu metal crap. and to think you come from the same city as me The apex theory and this band are the same fucking band. they both want to be Incubus. Unfortunately, even Incubus forgot how to be Incubus a long time ago, so it seems they all be shit outta luck. First they were incubus metal and now they've gone emo! I wonder why. I think you're thinking of the Apex Theory. ive never heard this band aside from the mtv2 hit. the singer looks like the outcome of ray cappo and sisqo having a child I bought their album when Wherehouse was going out of business. Incredibly simple stuff, not challenging at all. That said, not horrible. Still, I don't know why they're on here i don't know this band ... they suck. no irony, i'm serious I don't know anything about this band, but I remember HATING that "shinobi Vs. dragon ninja" or whatever it was called. They played it everyday for like 6 months at the grocery store I work at. That song sure does blow. |
