Epitaph Records -- Millencolin

Break The Silence, featuring ex-members of All Else Fails and Rise Against/88 Fingers Louie, have released a "teaser" demo of three songs, all of which are going to be on the band's full-length "Near Life Experience", due out in February of 2004. The three songs, "Six Foot Revolver", "Moving Day", and "Natoma", are a chaotic blend of punk rock, melodic hardcore, and a dash of metal with vocals that span from a chilling, throaty, pissedoff growl to a surprisingly smooth croon, that, for some reason, reminds me of a more energetic Dan Hanaway (of Honor System/Broadways fame).

While I'm at it, I may as well state that their live show is jaw-droppingly good. For a band that is essentially touring with just a demo under their belts, they're tight as hell and, if one didn't know any better, you'd think they'd been together for years.

Check them out if you're a fan of the musical stylings of bands like Death By Stereo, Good Riddance, or Ignite. If they're playing within driving distance, by all means check them out and, in closing, mark your calendars for February 10th, because their full-length is going to be what everyone's talking about in 2004!

Wasn't Denis from 88FL supposed to have a new band? The last thing I heard from him was The Story So Far?

This review was good, but here's how I'd make it better:

    1. Breaking the Silence is a band, mention that more often. I keep thinking you're talking about actually breaking silence.

    2. If this album was to be compared to a Kid Rock album, which one would it be most like?

    3. Is Kid Rock the bomb or what?

I give this a ten simply based on the only song I've heard, "Six Foot Revolver"

Anyone got mp3's of the other two songs to hold me over until I get my copy of Demo in the mail?

fantastic band, kind of like a cross between good riddance and a more metal hardcore band, like say, the agony scene.

like good riddance, they keep it punk musically, but i would say that theyre a much fresher sound, and the vocals are also more diverse.

    well worth a listen

They're cool. Saw them in August in Joliet with Down By Law (it's reviewed here). They're (at least the singer Dan) is from the direct area (southwest side!).

Very cool. Hopefully my cousin can get me free stuff

who ever did this interview doesnt know the band at all... All Else Fails was around for a few years. Then Dan Precision (ex-88FL/Rise Against) joins the band. a lil while later there singer Andy quit. They sat around for a while and got a new singer but since Andy was the main song writter in the band he asked them to get a new name. so they have been together for years.
