The Christian Pop-Punkers of Relient K have decided to join the ranks of the Vandals, MU330, and Nerf Herder and release a full Christmas album.

Their not-so-unique sound similar to that of New Found Glory or Homegrown gives a nice touch to some of your favorite Christmas Carols at this time of the year. Opening up "Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hands" is my favorite traditional Christmas song "Angels We Have Heard On High" and despite the bands generic sound, they do an excellent cover of this and many other conventional Christmas carols such as: "Deck the Halls," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," and "Handels Messiah The Hallelujah." The band even adds some uniqueness to the classic "12 Days of Christmas" as they question what some of those odd gifts are and they supply with a handful of exclusive breakdowns to keep you attentive.

Although this is no "Oi to the World" it sure beats "Santa Cause: A Punk Rock Christmas" as a superior Punk Rock Christmas disc. Relient K's attempt at the classics is done well and this is the perfect record to spin in your CD player during the holiday season this year.

To all of you making false accusations of Relient K and throwing them down the gutter in bodybags, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!? Relient K shouldn't be branded by sticks with your burning, hating guts. What an amazing band to make the music they love with Christ's name said a hundred times over.

Awesome album guys! Keep it up.

I love Relient k, they are a Christian band that brings out the reall meaning of christianity in a teenage sort of way!

Anonymous (January 13, 2004)

if you haven't seem them live, don't bash them. p.s. download "pressing on" by Relient K and tell me you do not like them.

thriceequalsgod (January 6, 2004)

haha.. inagreendase used to kinda listen to this band... until the jew found out they were christian.

funny story: at warped, this guy had a shirt. this shirt read:

what would jesus do.... for a klondike bar?

sorry about my bad spelling in my last rant.

This kid I know is from there hometown, and if friends with their old gutairist. He said that his buddy quit the band after the decided to go Christ-rock to make more money. So this band changed it's lyrics to make money, they aren't really catholic in the sense of that they write about what they believe, they write about what people believe and make money off that. I think that's an asshole thing to do.

shut up hippie

To be punk is to have an open mind. To automatically reject a band because it is Christian is not punk, but close minded. Open your mind and open your ears. Punk long ago stopped being a form a music and started being an attitude. You do what you want with that attitude. And if what you want is to be a Christian then awesome. If you want to be an atheist then cool for you.

PetroBPettson (January 4, 2004)

I think Pat Robertson needs to start a thrash band.

They were also homophobic.

To say punks can't be religious is just stupid... Bad Brains ring a bell?

to the person who said that people shouldn't complain about bands being 'christian'... well, there are many things that 'punk' bands can't be... racist, homophobic, religious... it's pretty obvious why...

It's so much easier being a vegetarian when half of what you consume is cocaine, like me.

The revolution of shitty music and great hair, maybe.

theonearmedscissor (January 2, 2004)

to the christian school kid, why don't you start the christian revival instead of complaining about christian bands being 'watered-down'.

There are plenty of good christian bands, its just most of them play outside of the crappy Christian scene. Look at MeWithoutYou, Norma Jean, Further Seems Forever, Underoath, etc...you don't see them opening for DC Talk. Instead, they are at some crappy bar playing with Every Time I Die and Poison The Well. That is where the revolution is my friend, not weak crap like Relient K playing to a 99% Christian audience.

Review borders on the line between sweaty anus and steaming pile of shit.

FortyMinutesWest (January 1, 2004)

Yeah, you're right, no one has EVER brought NOFX or Anti-Flag's politics into question. Idiot.

Anonymous (January 1, 2004)

Why the crap should it matter if they are "Christian"...it doesn't matter that Anti-flag or Nofx hates our President. Any punk ban can believe what they want to believe witout getting insulted till it's a Christian band....and then they automatically suck....that's an oxymoron to punk it's self...Not liking something because they believe in something...y'all are a bunch of posers.

The best Christian band was Strongarm.

backupdork (December 31, 2003)

i am often told that i look exactly like the singer of this band. i wish i could say it wasn't true, but it kind of is.
i don't mind this band, but the best Christian band, hands down,is mewithoutYou.

PetroBPettson (December 31, 2003)

Deck the Halls, Bruise Yor Hand......reminds me of that Prong song "Snap your Fingers, Snap your neck".

Anonymous (December 31, 2003)

Christian rock is silly. The only thing about their name is the fact that the shop teacher in "Student Bodies" had a "K car".

Anonymous (December 31, 2003)

Christmas, more like giftmas, am i rite.

Anonymous (December 31, 2003)

i saw a video of this band on ABC Family channel the other day

PetroBPettson (December 31, 2003)

I bet their all hiding terrible secrets like that they're pedophiles or smack addicts or something....'cuz late at night I channel surf and the christian rock shows always have shady looking guys trying to look and act like hip young teens. Creepy. I do know some kids in a local christian band that sounds like Slayer though, and they're alright I guess if you go for that kinda stuff......Slayer I mean, not Christianity.

KingOfRain (December 30, 2003)

Christmas is a sham. Bah Humbug.

Anonymous (December 30, 2003)

actually if you have read the lyrics to their previous albums, you would know fully they are a Christian band.

but thanks for trying.

that's where those christmas songs are from! cool

Anonymous (December 30, 2003)

I go to a Christian school and this band is ridiculously huge for a very mediocre pop band. The only reasoned they released this excrement on plastic is because it's a quick cash-in in the watered-down Christian "scene."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I've seen Relient K cds in my sister's room, right between Nora Jones and mandy Moore.....So I can say, without even a listen, that they suck a sweaty sack of testies. Plus the only good christian rock I've ever heard is when the Oblivions did an album of trashed-up gospel songs. Leave this crap alone kids, and listen to The Oblivions....I't's always your best bet.

Anonymous (December 30, 2003)

scores for the review.

Anonymous (December 30, 2003)

At least they're doing traditional songs and not stupid-ass original Christmas songs.
