I know you came here expecting a review for the new Casualties album, “On The Front Line,” but I have something even better. My associates have retrieved the one and only copy of the journal the band members kept during the recording and writing of the album, enjoy! Tuesday 7:00 am-Got up to style hair, talked about who we saw at the supermarket the other day. I believe hairstyles are important part of being in a punk rock band, if you ain’t sportin’ the liberty spikes ya might as well be listen’ to The Dashboard Confessionals, or whatever shit ya kids today are passin’ off as the punx. I get sick to my stomach every time I see these bands we’re on Warped Tour with, those fashion obsessed little fucks don’t know anything about upping the punx, it’s a shame. They’re more concerned about fashion than the music! Someone used all my conditioner, now my hair has no volume, I can’t work under these conditions! 3:00 pm-Finished with hair, working on the musix. Wrote the songs “Intro” and “On The Frontline” I wrote these songs after I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese tasted funny, you can hear my anger in the lyrics. You may think the repeated screaming of “Casualties Army!” and “on the frontline” is about the events in the world. You couldn’t be more wrong. This is about taking a stand against substandard dairy products. Up the quality! The song “Leaders of Today” was originally going to be used in a training video for future Denny’s managers. The repetitive shouting reflects the struggles of the common man against the astonishing lack of random shouting we see in society. It’s time we took a stand! We wrote “Tomorrow Belongs To Us” because being the leaders of today isn’t an easy goal to reach, so in case that falls through we added this one. Notice that the chorus sounds identical to all the other choruses, this is meant to reflect unity. Up the unity! 5:00 pm-Rented Punky Brewster on DVD at the local Blockbuster. This documentary has clearly changed our lives. The way it portrays a young girls struggle in the male dominated world of punk rock is a true inspiration. What? It’s a kid show? No, it can’t be because, you see Ah fuck! 7:00 pm began writing music. Before we began writing I wanted to incorporate some Latin rhythms and some sound manipulation, but our spiritual advisor informed us that this wasn’t the punx, and that those fucking pussies in Mercury Voltas or whatever fucking do that shit. Our hair is better. So with that out of the way we decided that we’d play the same chords really fast, and that would carry our message. I’m sick of getting albums with songs I don’t like, so I had a great idea. We’ll make all the songs sound the same, this way it will be like one really long song. I’m a genius. 8:00 pm I made some vegan pork chops for the band. Since we were short on time we had our picture taken for the album’s cover right after we ate. As you can see, half the band is suffering from indigestion, while the other half is so full they could barely stay awake! Up the Maalox!
I hope you enjoyed this look into the writing process of this band, maybe this will give you new insight when you hear the album.

my first casulaties album. and it kicks ass! I'm not really sure where the hate for The Casualties come from. Yes, I realize they definetaly are not lyrical geniuses, and they aren't to deep. But they obviously love what they're doing, and they obviously love punk rock. "HARDCORE PUNX!!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !! haha thats all so true except i like the casualties but i can take you pulling fun at them without saying how dare you you little emo im gonna gut you mainly cos i have a life and anyone can say anything big on the internet wow all you cunts are pretty dumb take a history lesson, punk rock is GENERIC, punk rock is JUVERNILE, punk rock is made to sound like crap, and the only ones giving "fashion statement" wannabes outthere a chance to "be" punk would be all the fucking commercial bands that claim to be punk. Half you tools need to pull your head out of your ass and maybe think. "hmm im i dont like punk rock its to generic for my taste, the sound is terrible maybe i should go listen to some barbie party mix or some shit" if you dont like it fuck off and its always been about the music tarts All i want to say to all of you is that, after you were born, you didnīt started walking at once, you first needed to crawl, right? i don't really see why everyone hates this album so much. yes, there isn't a genius lyric throughout the whole album, almost all of the rhythms are identical. but in the end, it's how much you like the sound, not what it revolves around. i think it's an enjoyable cd... nothing genius, nothing earth-shattering, just a fun little romp. lmfao awesome reveiw yeah, casualties army is a great song, cuz there's no vocals. There old stuff IS better. why arent there any reviews on that stuff? now i do have to say, unknown soldier and tomorrow belongs to us are pretty good songs. and the album itself isnt that bad. its just their older stuff is so much better. im sick of people sayin bands older shit is better because that is nowhere near the case with the casualties unknown soldier and casualties army are probably their best songs to date. by the way that journal was pretty funny im sick of hearing people say bands older stuff is always the best in this cae the casualties have gotten better since they started, unknown soldier and casualties army are probably the best fucking songs they ever wrote. i give the causulties 5 stars just because i love their hair. i have a thing for hair. i love it : ) Hey forty minus west you arragant prik fuck you that little jurnal is not fuckin funny ass hole suck one The Casualties aren't innovative in the least, but when they do break out of their generic sound, they have some pretty killer songs. (Unknown Soldier, for instance) HARDCORE PUNX!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! I fucking despise the Casualties, not because they are a bad band (good musicianship, horrible lyrics), but because they are giving poser ass fashion punks a reason to exist. I bought this alblum because a friend recommended it to me...... I always hated how the Casualties talked about "being punks", and this alblum doesn't signify any change in their music. It is rare for them to talk about real problems that plauge society, but when they do address any social issue, it is so generalized that it can be applied to almost anything. I was thoroughly bored with this record and it left nothing to be desired...... The Casualties are immature and need to grow up. This is probley the dumbest review ever, if you even knew the band you would think way different, instead you just made this beucase you are jelous of them. Like it or not, the casualties are one of the main influencing punk bands of today. i dont give a fuck what you people say this is a good cd and a good band Bands make musci, wehter it is for financial profit, mental security or just artistic expression. Let them do what they do, reviews should not be in existance. sinc eits all about opinions, it shouldnt matter if they're good or not. you either liek them or you don't. its great that they have a fan base, its great that they have people who hate them. i know i'm using this review, and i'm a hyppocrit for doing so. i'd like to let you know, They want to play music. i'll let them play it. If i was going to start a band and play music, i wouldnt want peopel to feel the same way. liek it or not, the casualties play music, just liek any other band. its their version fo music, and every other band playes their own version of music. so stop with the negativity, stop writting here telling everyone how awsome the album is, and just listen to music and have a good time with it. music is here to inspire, its here to agress, its here to create moods that otherwise wouldnt exist. it compels us, so we should respect it, in any of its forms. Ok, first of that review was goddam funny. However: I am right with u this shows trues vs. posers this is a great record, but people picking on them coz of their hair is stupid. listen to the music people. just coz you listen to vinyl, or cd's, just coz your hair is in spikes and green ora fo-hawk(ehh!) doesn't mean you have any right ot be an elitest piece of shit. stop over analyzing music and let rock n roll be rock n roll. whether someone does something for fashion or for the love of the music they still none the less do it because they want to do it! end of story. posers? maybe. outdated? maybe again, but punk rock elitest bullshit has been a constant ethical struggle for show goers for decades, just appreciate music for what it is or ignore it! Sorry i rate the casualties a 10 for being reblious and not giving a fuck wat we care. But i have to say punks only dress with mohawks and patches, studs and boots cause they want to stand out to show the real working class. Sorry not standing out like popluar i mean stand out saying they r 'rebels'. The casualties r a great band. They old stuff was better tho but they r still kicking live. They influnced me to listen to punk music. Now me and friends have a band my band is between the casualties and a rancid. The casualties r great and in my opinion they r street punk itz more than the colthes. I have looked up there history and found some amazming stuff. U should try. But the casualties 'for the punx' vinyl u seen the cover welll they r street punk and i havent heard them i the radio. They use to be underground. And for a fact there cd's dont sound the same. U probably got brain damage. The casualties influened me to be anti and now i dress street punk and i am proud. But i will not dis emo because they have thier own thing going. But plz dont call ur self punk ur not. Punks r anti evrything and ur not soooo. (think about it) also rember old school punkrock made emo music. Emo is new school punkrock. Saw them they were not that great. Singer just fuckin stood there. Lyrics suck, riffs are boring, and laughably dumb. 3 good songs in over a decade is not a good thing and all there albums sound exactly alike. Oh and from my perspective i would be willing to say fuck the punks if the singer would shut the fuck up about punx and skins on the street, punx and skins unity and stop the lame attempt at Oi! chants. Money would be better spent on the new templars cd kids. I saw them live a while ago, and while they were outclassed by the opening bands, I did notice the bass playing and drumming of this band are quite solid, even if they only have about 2 tempos. that ok......i'm form indonesian & my fucking gank like the casualties!but why that band not come to my fucking country? great..........this is a fucking shit cool!i like that beat! I think that the CAsualties cd On The Frontline fucking rocked! i think that nebody who didnt like it was probably not even listening2 the fucking lyrics...i think this fucking album is great, the band kicks ass,n all the haters can all go2 hell.UP THE PUNX! OI OI OI! first off, funny review. It doesn't matter if these kids LOOK "hardcore" because your not llooking at them when you listen to this.THis band has recycled the same riff over and over for years and put as much thought into their lyrics as a six year old. They understand that if you look "punk" you'll sell the records to the kids and they continue to put little to no effort in their music cause they'll sell the albums anyway. They are trying too hard to emulate their heroes from the 80s and doing a shitty job at it too. "ra, ra ,ra ,ra , roar, roar(Repeat 100x's)" Same old, Same old. The riffs are so used 50 million times on every song. These guys were good at one point. But today they look outdated. The unseen is where its at. the post below was from randomdipshit "Vinyl sounds better dude. CD's are mixed 6db above peak volume so that they just don't quite clip your speakers for some dumb ass reason. Vinyl gives you a much "wider" tonal spectrum. Try it sometime!" "Well make all the songs sound the same, this way it will be like one really long song. Im a genius." CDs are more convenient though. However, I'll still buy vinyl if that's the only format it's in. Vinyl sounds better dude. CD's are mixed 6db above peak volume so that they just don't quite clip your speakers for some dumb ass reason. Vinyl gives you a much "wider" tonal spectrum. Try it sometime! I laugh when I hear this band's music cause it sucks so much dick. You can't even understand what the lead singer is saying. SOOOOO fuckin punk. Up the shit! "I've been a fan of this band since "For The Punx" and I must say this their best work since then. I really enjoy this album a lot. I know many people don't like this band, but the band has been around for almost 15 years now. They must be doing something right and that is called tour tour tour!!! It shows you that all the hard is paying off for these guys as well as other bands who work as hard they do. Their music repetitve but I can never get sick of them. That is just me. We all have our own taste in what we like and there is no need to bash for liking something you don't like, If you don't like a band then just don't bother telling the whole world if you don't like them, because there are always going to be other who like the bands that you hate. In the end it's just all music." u r all retards. i hate people that think this shit is diy or something special. they're a bunch of pussies on a label that puts out the warped tour sampelr and i heard one of their songs on my local radio station. they are not underground. they are not good. they have 80's hair. they write retarded shit. punk by numbers. nothing that hasnt already been done better. "I guess you haven't ever heard of DIY punk. It has been safe from bullshit trends (insomuch as DIY has survived many of them and is still around) for over 20 years. Get out of Best Buy and buy some vinyl, kid." "Was Ice T in a punk band? No he wasn't; but him saying that really impresses me." Wow, that was something. Quite funny. But do you really think the Casualties give a fuck about a review like this. They are out playing music and seeing the world while people like us are bitching about whats punk and whats not. If you like them or not they have been around for a long time and are dedicated to punk music. I personally think its better for kids to get into this band other than N.F.G. at least this will get a new comer thinking about whats going on. Also there are people saying they sold out, yet you also say everything they play sounds the same. I think if they changed their sound, that would make them sellouts. But they have not. They still continue to play fast aggressive punk, the way it's supposed to be. "saves the day, coheed and cambria, taking back sunday" "i like a lot of emo...good emo anyway (saves the day, coheed and cambria, taking back sunday among others)." To Mr. Chris Judah: Yeah, so anyone who lives in the midwest needs to check out this band from chicago called PUNCH IN THE FACE. They have 2 7"s out on Lengua Armada records and both rip like shit. Fast ass boston-styled hardcore. oopps, i ment NYC not myc as noted in my review. sorry about the typo. hello people and readers of punknews.org. i thought the name of the site was punk news, not fake ass shitty emo band news that suck anyway. the casualties are one of my favorite bands and very true to the punk scene here in myc. i dont wanna hear you stupid little suburban bastrds talk shit about a band that has been working hard for over 12 years and are still going strong. no, i am not a close minded fuck. my musical taste expands from bands like the casualties to bands like the cure and even phil collins. thats right phil collins. i think this album was true to street punk. it was a good album. you know,i really feel bad for a lot of you emo kids. i like a lot of emo...good emo anyway (saves the day, coheed and cambria, taking back sunday among others). you talk all of this shit without giving credit to punk rock music. punk music made you. period, and you all know it deep down inside under all of your thursday and story of the year albums. im not one to rag on emp much, but this review really pissed me off. think twice and look into your music history before you say some stupid shit like that again. im sure ine of you dick heads is reading this and saying "man this guy is an asshole", but i least i will still be listening to bands like the casualties years from no while you wont even look back on emo before the year is out. take care and God bless you all. I hearby declare this particular review and message board to be the best one this site has ever witnessed I like the album. You peeps are way to hard on them. I guess its because they are populaar and its not cool to like popular bands, its cool to dis them. A lot of you people don't even know what punk is. I've been reading some of the most ridiculous comments ever. Punk isn't and music, so someone can still listen to Dashboard Confessional and be punk as all hell. The reason punk is dead now is because it became all about fashion and not about the lifestyle and that's when the skins put punk in it's place: the fuckin' ground. Don't get me wrong, I love punk music, but it's more of a lifestyle than anything. Ice T said something like this "Punk isn't what you wear, it's not music. If two white suburbanite kids walk into a record store and say 'Hey, I want the new Mobb Deep album.' That's fuckin' punk rock" Was Ice T in a punk band? No he wasn't; but him saying that really impresses me. I used to like the Casualties until I realized I would have been paying twenty dollars over and over for the same album. Tell me the difference between, 'For the Punx' and 'Underground Army', between 'Die Hards' and 'Stay Out Of Order'. There is none. They use the same goddamn chords and the say the same goddamn thing over and over again. 'We are true punks, because we sniff glue and drink and spike our hair and our parents kicked us out and I'm an ugly bastard.' I've been a fan of this band since "For The Punx" and I must say this their best work since then. In the end it's just all music. Wow. Ha, damn i love this review. why do people complain about bands being reviewed, any band i have seen reviewed were in some way inflenced by punk This trash and the Subhumans have nothing in common... Chaos UK are great, and some Exploited is even great. I'm thinking their first three albums... "If you don't like the casualties, you're definitley not gonna like the Subhumans' new live album on Fat" the exploited sux. i want no exploited. i want no upping of punx. my bands have looks. good looks. some bands have attractive members. is this what you mean. i now must go cry? y u hate me? we are not upping any more punx. i want no punkx . i must have no nonondpahoijgjgfpnea[igjrn [ga[g wow. that is so unoriginal, you said nothing that all the other ignorant fucks havn't said before. talking shit about people you don't even know. so why don't you say that about the eploited, they have spiky hair. do you even know who that is? what you said about them you coald say about any classic UK 82 bands. i don't think you know what punk is. besides all those emo bands you like have looks too. pathetic, tattoed, black greasy hair...sound familiar. this band is fucken punk rock as fucken fuck. oi oi oi oi oi. punk oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk punkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkoi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi o fuck americaaaaaaaaaaaaa leather pants oi oi oi oi oi oi libertyyyyyyyyyy spikes whats it sound like? and this isnt punk news its emofag!!!.com right? i'm still excited!!! i have a chubby from all the emo fag bands that everyone sucks off on this site. ie. postal service, bright eyes. review me. i'm excited. i can play a casio and sound important. i'm q and not u and not atdi and not modest. i'm not even fugazi. i'm nonsense man. i want ska. i want fat punk. i want what you all have forgotten. give me buck o 9!! this is glen from the casualties. fuck off to everyone that tries to tell me what punk is. you have no fucking idea. screw the lot of ya! cheers! whats it sound like? and this isnt punk news its emofag!!!.com right? i'm still excited!!! i have a chubby from all the emo fag bands that everyone sucks off on this site. ie. postal service, bright eyes. review me. i'm excited. i can play a casio and sound important. i'm q and not u and not atdi and not modest. i'm not even fugazi. i'm nonsense man. i want ska. i want fat punk. i want what you all have forgotten. give me buck o 9!! Wow, I almost forgot that punknews.org visitors didn't like punk. Thanks for reminding me that it's actually popnews.org. What a bunch of emo/pop pussies, if you're gonna use the word punk you should at least have some idea what punk music sounds like. your ears hurt cause you are a PUSSY. tell your mom to drop you off at the cg show nest time. up the punx! The score is for the review. I saw these guys live, my ears fucking hurt like shit, every song sounded exactly like the last one. Nice schick with the cop sirens onstage, though. Go back across the border, Jorhay. Or whatever. This score is for the Quincy Punx. punk was about to recieve its lethal injection when at the last momment the governor called in with a repreve. so what does punk rock do in return? they get 4 drunk middle aged men to make "valid ponts about how there government is out to get them and to accidentally fall on drums guitar bass and a microphone and see what god aweful sounds can come out of the speakers. to play music in a band for 15 years is commendable. to bad this band never learned how to write a song. "I was more referring to when Cedric was apart of ATDI anyway, he seemed a lot better back then." "The Casualties own. Bunch of jealous fucks. It's Punk Rock and this site is Punk News. If you don't like it, get the fuck out, posers." "Go back to Dildonia." Punk isn't dead, it just deserves to die. Can someone tell me what they are on the front line of? The firing squad? Yes, I'm trying to impress you with such complex words as ANUS and MULLET, and DOUCHE BAGS, man, you don't know how long I was looking through my thesaurus for such elegant words of wisdom. If you don't like the casualties, you're definitley not gonna like the Subhumans' new live album on Fat It's Drunk-Hardcore Punk... What do you people expect? This music is crusty because it's from the streets, get over it already... bunch of cry babies. Go back to your precious pop-punk and leave the hardcore to the real punks Stuaz, if you're going to insult me, at least be somewhat clever about it, instead of spouting out words you most likely spent half an hour looking up, to impress kids you'll never meet on a message board. I like mohawks better than liberty spikes. However I like bleached spikes like Billy Idol's, the lead singer in Total Chaos in the "Complete Control" video and Lars Frederiksen's this score is for the casualties being the worst band ever. Good album. It's a lot harder and better produced then the last few albums. I think their early years at around 94 was their best material I give this an 8/10 "I want to lynch the kid who compared Cedric of the Mars Volta to the douche nozzle that sings for this band. The review got it's point across without going in-depth about a shitty album. "i thought that "misfits" quote was from an old old old metallica song." Awesome review I'm about to buy it to see if it is really as bad as it's made out to be. i thought that "misfits" quote was from an old old old metallica song. hey the nazi's had a decently trained army, do you respect them too. there must be no respect for the casualties. Worst movie of the year will not be going to Scooby Doo 2. Sorry, but it most certainly will be going to Garfield. its funny too that this reveiw has 1000 more hits than any of the others right now, everyone has to take their shots at these guys. and to that guy who said this site should support punk rock, it should, i agree, but not blindly. i mean any asshole can grow liberty spikes and play 3 chords and yell ever cliche punk lyric in the book into a mic. you gotta have some quality control. numetal.org probably draws the line at limp dilznik too. not bad ones, brah. thats cuz those 'other' sites don't know shit about punk rock. rolling stone probably thinks this is the best punk album of the year. people actually in touch with the punk scene realize how fucking awful this shit is, ie. punknews.org net nerds. Irony is something that is unexpected, I personally believe its EXPECTED for a shitty band to get a shitty score. It's funny how all of the non-punk or rock and alternative sites give this album average and above average ratings, but this particular punk site gives it the lowest rating possible, which is ironic, considering this site should support punk bands Any faith I had left in humanity has combusted and been reduced to tiny little embers that smell like old mayonnaise. The Casualties own. Bunch of jealous fucks. It's Punk Rock and this site is Punk News. If you don't like it, get the fuck out, posers. skulls on an album cover, that's real original. i've got something to say...i killed your baby today!!! hahahahaha...this the funniest reveiw i've read in a long time. wow these guys have been around for 15 years. I knew they have been here for a long time but 15 years....this gives them respect from me...wait no it really doesn't. 15 long years and the best they can come up with is this shit? god damn im all for some good punk music but wow these guys suck. Best fucking review of the years. Dont be hatin all da niggas :D ha Yea, I second what the guy below me said. really dumb review. this cant be anyworse than a rancid record. C'mon, you have to give Jorge some credit. His first language is Spanish. I'm not saying he would be writing award-winning poetry if all the songs were in Spanish, but I'm sure the language accounts for some of it. And all the talk about how they're not talented? Rick pulls off Freeman-esque basslines that explode along with Meggers' unbelievable drumming. Jake ain't too bad a guitar either. And Jorge has the most original voice in music today (even if it isn't the best, it's still unique). The only flaw I see in them is the lyrics but when was punk rock about insightful lyrics ex: "I wanna be anarchy", "Sex and Violence", "Gabba Gabba Hey", "I ain't no god damn son of a bitch." "I saw The Casualties new CD in this weeks Best Buy ad for only $7.99, must be cause Best Buy = punx rawk!!! Oi!!" "This band is worse than Wang Chung and ICP combined." 40 Minutes West I'm glad your from PA!!! That was funny as hell! hahaha. funny as fuck. up the irony. i thought the review was garbage I liked the review, I don't care for the Casualties, but the review made me laugh, I think its pretty funny how everyone is getting super pissed off about this whole thing. He knows the album sucks, he knows the band sucks, so hes saying it... let him say what he thinks... plus, im from Ohio and i take offense to the neg. remarks lol HAVE SOME FUN DUDES! HOOOOOOOLY DIIIIIIIIIIIVER!! Funniest review on this site before. haha, this was gold. despite the gayness of the journal, this album still owns. oh well. I saw The Casualties new CD in this weeks Best Buy ad for only $7.99, must be cause Best Buy = punx rawk!!! Oi!! all you kids are losers. "they fucking say "punk" 3429346 times per record. The Punkulties with their new album "On the punk line" scores for the fact that you people prolly think another review on this site matters. this is all we need. this review is the reason i'm breathing. *trying to think of something positive to say about the Casualties* the casualties are usually really over rated, glad to see an accurate rating for once. now if only someone rated f-minus for what they are (over rated) there's nothing wrong with a little lack of musical talent...for the most part that's how punk rock started Sorry for the double post, there are supposed to be countless "plus" symbols after the "A" but for some reason they didn't show up. Oh well. |
