Occasionally hardcore, or what passes for it today, gets too predictable, and the tone-deaf singers with their cookie monster jabberings about the lies of democracy feel just like a piece of pizza tastes when it’s been in the microwave too long. Occasionally it all sounds like a gelatinous glob of shit, with very little creativity, but lots of style biting.

Every so often I feel like an album (any style) is just a cop-out by four or five guys who’d play almost fucking anything to get somewhere. Some bands could easily grab a trombone player, make their colors all clash, get the first name that pops into a passing three-year-old’s head, and start playing ninth wave ska. Or they could start chain smoking, abuse their mother’s eyeliner, shrink their clothing and become an “indie” band. You see where this could go, right?

Scars of Tomorrow came up fast, but luckily, seem sincere about the eleven songs here. The seem to truly enjoy the weighty noise they make, but the singer, though adequate, may as well be a roadie for all he’s really contributing. Or, if they just taught him how to actually sing a little it would keep them from getting pigeonholed with bands who’ve far, far less ability. I liked Rope regardless, especially “Suffocating Words”, but wish they’d offer some variation in the voice department, but hey, maybe he can haul a mean amp?

Why is it that every song on this album kicks serious ass, yet I can never listen to more than 3 in a row without taking it out?

This album is by far the best album that will ever hit stores in 2004. Also, Scars of Tomorrow are by far one of the most premiere hardcore bands in the U.S. today...

these guys sound like slipknot with mosh parts. horrible. just because they have lyrics about "the way we live our lives" doesn't make them good.

I'm not really into metalcore, but they weren't that bad live.

Hardcore is not the new nu metal. Crappy metalcore bands being passed off as hardcore bands are the new nu metal.

you would accuse someone of starting a ska band just to "get somewhere" but you dont have a problem with these guys playing "hardcore"? Dude, have you noticed its not 1995? ska isnt popular... hardcore is the new nu metal."

I think what he was saying is that, regardless of the style of music a band chooses to do, It's easy to put out some seriously music if you aren't careful.

this shit got really old, really fast...I'm not talking about the band i'm talking about the million other "metalcore" bands they emulate.

"Their last release showed potential. Their singer has such a clear voice, you can understand every word on your first listen. I haven't heard this yet, but if they've progressed like they have in the past it should be good."

I think you'll like this release forty. the guitars are boomin and the vocals are just right for this kind of sound damage. way better than what they have done prviously.

i like this album, even when i head second thoughts since i moderately enjoyed their last effort. well, this album is different. a little mixture of Most Precious Blood and Darkest Hour. also it does help to have kurt ballou to produce your record. cop this since it's probably one of the few decent bands Victory has signed.
