Building from their success of their retardedly titled, but solid debut Light A Match For I Deserve To Burn (Marketing Director: “So this is really the album title?” Band: “Uh, yeah…” Marketing Director: “Hellooooooooo emo kids!”), The Beautiful Mistake return with an equally solid, equally average followup. all you fags really keep doin is mention thursday. Probably that's all that you listen to and fuck at night. Thursday this and thursday that. You think everyday is a thursday. geez go back to school and learn your calendar, and you'll learn to appreciate music you can never make yourself. I went to the lead singers wedding. = ) His wife is my ballet/jazz teacher. tbm are a great band, period. they keep pushing the envelope, and aren't doing what everyone else is. there simply one step ahead of the game. the lyrics are honest, from the heart, and aren't typical like all the other bands. the chemistry between both guitarists are like no other. there should be more original and true bands like them! rock!!! great new cd! it's nice to hear a band that has good influences. i hear snapcase, quicksand and failure. good times. I just picked this up, and overall, I think it's very good. I thought most of their first album was derivative crap, but many of the songs here are catchy and well-written, all are of top-notch production value, and several are decidedly awesome. Only major complaint is the lyrical content, much of which is simple, as far as I can tell. Track #1 is a great song. awesome record. Im glad the space sound is back, a lot of bands like Cave In, Beloved, Narcissus, Hopesfall and Muse are playing prog stuff, which is cool. They obviously were following the fad if they were screaming before. And now they realize the fad is to get away from all this screaming bullshit. These dipshits dont know how to think for themselves and come up with something new. Awesome CD. To those who are depressed that the screaming is gone, I'm sorry a band isn't following your fad. U2 is one of the greatest bands in the history of rock music. I love the new CD! I pick up on Hum and Failure influence but in no way is it "ripping" those bands off. I dont really take this review as a personal attack on the band. He isnt talking about the induvidual members or anything. The reviewer doesnt like the band and made points to back up why. People dont always praise what they review. Otherwise reviews would be pointless, everyone would just be blowing hot air up the asses of bands that already have over inflated egos. Just because you like it doesnt mean everyone is, thus you cant really try to say someone is wrong when they say they like or dislike a band without becoming a music nazi. You can state you like it and give the reasons for why you do. I think you gotta remember that everyone is coming at bands from a different direction, maybe this is something new to you and you are impressed, maybe someone has heard a million bands like this and they are tired of dime a dozen bands, maybe they hate any music remotely like this. thats the beauty of opinion, no one is right or wrong. The review seemed like a personal stab at TBM. I have the record and I happen to think it is pretty good, especially since this album a) has some great songs and b) sounds nothing like most of the emo crap that is out there. Kudos to them for doing what they want and to bad for you that the best you could do was to trash them for doing something different. "Go buy some...Stooges and Rolling Stones." TBM is great...they don't snort coke off toliet seats like thursday You people just reminded me why i haven't come to this site in 2 months. didnt your mothers teach you not to talk with dicks in your mouths??? "Go buy some...Stooges and Rolling Stones." so these guys aim in life is pretty much to do this? huh. what a valuable contribution to the benefit of the world. this band blows, i saw them open for senses fail and me and my friend started wailing in that low pitched voice he does - and our friend thought we were actually singing along...thats how fucking generic and predicatable this band is "go buy some MC5, Television, Rocket From The Tombs, Stooges and Rolling Stones" in fact, i think i will right now. i would much rather listen to "do you know who you are?" by texas is the reason. Hey...to cocksucker below......dump all this emo shit....go buy some MC5, Television, Rocket From The Tombs, Stooges and Rolling Stones...its time you dumbass kids get your eduacation. you people are disgusting. you are either sucking the dicks of thursday (who happened to release the same record twice but call their new one "war all the time") or heralding some "cool" scene band as the next "big thing". you are the same people who said the beautiful mistake ripped thursday on their last record and now have found another way to slag what is a really good band. you guys are hating this band because they are christians. you should know better. I dont know about beautiful...but this shit sure is a mistake........ayyy! Good review. You're right. "And by the way, the chorus of the last track doesnt start with calm hands, but cold hands." I wonder how many of their fans have nautical star tattoos. As far as my hatred is concerned emo concerts are the new raves. this album is amazing. all of you fuckers canned them for ripping off thursday on their last record...now this? give them a fucking break! this new cd is amazing with anthemic songs and great guitar work and vocal work. First, YOTR is an awesome band, so are failure and hum. I think the new album is pure gold, exept for My Reminder which is kinda deja vu. I really love the new spacey guitar sound, but kinda miss the mosh of anonymous vs. california. And by the way, the chorus of the last track doesnt start with calm hands, but cold hands. god bless yall. what the fuck why did the band have to change. I popped this cd in my car stereo and assured my friend it would rock. After three songs i said "what the fuck" I want the screaming back. damn i liked their screaming old U2 is fucking amazing. cave in is miles and miles ahead of this band. c'mon isnt it obvious? i miss the screaming from light a match. the drum beats arent nearly as interesting as the first album and the guitar rifts are nearly as edgy. however, it is still a pretty good album with just a changed style from hardcore emo to straight up emo. so overall its worth having but not as good as the first. score is for the art inside the booklet. Catherine Wheel sucks. I've always been a huge fan of the Beautiful Mistake, and I think their newest album shows why. Amazingly well put-together songs that will fill any fan with hope and joy. True brilliance. I absolutely loved the 1st album, and I like Failure's music quite a bit too. That said, this one fell WAY below my expectations. The guitar sound is completely different and lost any edge it had, and the drums got considerably weaker too (may be because of the new drummer). I don't really miss the screaming at all as the guy's voice was awful at times, but they didn't need to completely strip the music of what nuts it had. At least now if I go see them live again, this CD should turn the scuzzy metalheads away so I won't have to risk contracting scabies. If my band had two influences, I would make them Failure and Hum. Too bad this sucks. this score is for year of the rabbit. saw them open for thursday, and i sat down in the middle of the pit. and fell asleep. i'll 3rd that rabbit comment. man what a snooze fest. like kurt cobain singing that cave in record but worse. has anyone heard of Fire When Ready...if yes tell me if theyre good bc im seeing them with Poulain tommorow i second that comment about Year Of The Rabbit. when i saw them they opened with a Cure cover, and i thought that maybe they'd be alright, but that was the only remotely interesting thing they did. the rest was generic grunge angst rock. no thanks. i hear The Beautiful Mistake like FREESTYLE WALKING Year of the Rabbit (ex-Failure) is the most boring band I've ever seen live. hellloooooooooo emo kids ! first! fags! |
