The Frenetics continue to impress with Grey Veins to the Parking Lot, the follow up full length to 2001's These Mistakes Took Years of Practice. The Montreal three piece continues to be difficult to categorize. Their sound is a reconstruction of a number of familiar devices and styles, combined and assimilated to create something that stands independent of all of them.

I loved the song roof tops and the name of the last cd I am pleasantly surprised to see a review of such a great, but somewhat unknown, band. They are indeed one of the best acts from Montreal, and I agree that they are hard to classify. But this shouldn't discourage anyone from checking them out. There are some real good mp3s on their site. I saw them with Ted Leo without ever having heard them and they were excellent. I saw the Frenetics a couple of years ago at the old Liquid Lounge in Edmonton. They were really rad. I had completely forgot about them since, but I can't wait to see them again now that their coming back on tour next month. Montreal's best band. Sometimes you wonder why great bands with great songs like them don't get the recognition they deserve... tres bon cd , les frenetics torche des cue I care.... this band is probably the best rock act of Montreal, maybe the best one in Canada!!! |
