Mayday MaloneA Reason To Quit (2003)self-released Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: Brian (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on July 6th 2004 I don’t know why, but I actually expected something good from this band. Maybe it was the modest shot of a snow-covered city street that graced the cover of their album A Reason to Quit. Maybe it was their name’s throwback to “Cheers” hero Ted Danson. Maybe I was getting desperate for something in my review pile not to SUCK SO FUCKING MUCH. Mayday Malone instead bored me with their brand of blah-at-best pop-punk. It’s not the whiny kind, but that sure as hell doesn’t make it good. The vocalist sounds like a cheap, watered down imitation of Audio Karate’s lead singer without the gruffness, and, granted their musicianship is tight, but used to do absolutely nothing new. The best track is the acoustic throwaway with violins that still isn’t good enough for me to bother finding the song title. The mix is weird, too. The bass is turned up WAY louder than most other CDs I’ve heard, which is probably because he’ll occasionally pull off some half-interesting lines, but it still jumps out at you like a stray cat with its claws exposed. The self-deprecating title rings true. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
these dudes ripped of Streets of Thieves big time!!! To "WOODY" you put the cd into a cd player and press play........... fuckin retard! Fuck all of you who said this cd sucks, i bet your the bitches who go home and listen to your Good Charlotte cd's and other pussy bands like that and think your Hardcore. Know when to respect good music when you hear it. Keep it up Mayday, and FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN DOUCHE BAG WANNABES! if i was your age i'd be mounting every woman in wabasha! Shoot a mother fucker in a minute! Find a good piece o' pussy, go up in it! This score is for "Jesse" breaking the chain of Cheers references. He is obviously naught but one of the common folk I occasionally read about in my favorite periodicals. I agree Carla. When I first got this CD I couldn't stop listening to it. Catchy as hell. Hehe...Scott thinks he may have mixed up mine and yours latest new packages. So if your pile sucks EXTRA hard this time, you'll know why. It was meant for me. | Features
