Well, despite their entrance into a genre that seems to expand by twenty bands every couple of hours, From A Second Story Window brings more than enough to the table to keep listeners happy. Although they could easily slip into the niche carved out by others, From A Second Story Window has decided to expand upon the sound. The songs rely heavily on speaker smashing grooves and vocals that are all over the place. The band's manic nature may initially turn away some listeners, but beneath the discordant surface, these songs are extremely well constructed. From A Second Story Window truly creates something different than what was done by their predecessors. The changes in these songs are unexpected, not contrived. A lot of bands who try to break up heavier passages with a little bit of melody give their songs a copy and paste feel, but these tracks flow perfectly. Bands like Between the Buried And Me have tried this approach before, but these guys have succeeded where they have failed, because they’ve added new wrinkles to their sound and done it well enough that it sounds natural. This is yet another very strong release out of Black Market Activities. This label is really building a reputation for itself as one of the leading purveyors of chaotic, challenging music. From A Second Story Window truly creates something different than what was done by their predecessors. With this very strong EP under their belts, there’s no limit to what this band can do with their next release, and it should be very interesting. If you like Between the Buried And Me or older A Life Once Lost, you should enjoy this one. Since a lot of bands are content to find one style, and stick with it, it’s refreshing to see a band like this come along and actually improve upon something. to the person above me this band kicks ass and you are all fags for saying otherwise When they played a show here in Tampa, they were happy to just have a show and I talked to one of their guitarist's for a while. He is a really fucking awesome dude. If that clown costume statement is true then, this band seriously needs to be mocked by everyone! If I could not gfet my ass kicked for it, I would pelt these guys with rotten veggies on stage. If that clown costume statement is true then, this band seriously needs to be mocked by everyone! I can't comment on their previous style, because I have no idea, but this release has nothing to do with nu-metal. There are trend hopping bands in every genre, not just metalcore. The band has a fairly boring sound in the vocals, but the music isn't half bad. They did manage to be somewhat listenable considering what they did to the rest of the sound. Sometimes I can't like a band for something beyond the reason that I don't like their music... This is a perfect example of what's happening across the U.S.: Nu-metal goth losers going "hardcore" to get cool, and basically playing the same nu-metal crap mixed with June of 44 and passing it off as "new"... Fuck this. I'd rather have seen them as a shitty Nu-metal band, instead now I can only see them as a techy shitty Nu-metal band. i met these guys and all but the drummer (i think it was the drummer) are a bunch of dickheads. they were staying at my friends' apartment in tampa and when they got back from their show and my friends and i were watching tv in the couch. they started yelling at us, threatening us, and saying they were going to "slice our throats" if we had stolen any of their stuff. As for the guys being douchebags, they are actually really fucking nice. Nice try though! "props to nu-metal gone fashioncore. "props to nu-metal gone fashioncore. these guys like the buttsex because it's "funny" from a second story converge... What's so special about these guys? Good drummer, but everything else is boooooring. These guys are good. And I'm sure they care what you nay-sayers are bitching about. props to nu-metal gone fashioncore. This band used to have a DJ and wear masks and adidas pants. |
