Warped Tour 2004live in Randall's Island (2004)Warped Tour Reviewer Rating: User Rating: Contributed by: FaintlyFallingAshes (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on August 13th 2004
Arriving at Randall's Island at about 9:40 am for my first ever Warped Tour, I thought to myself, "We've got over two hours before the actual thing starts, it can't be that crowded!"...damn was I wrong. Once my friends and I arrived at the venue, the line was ridiculously long. When we got our place at the back of the line, we knew it was going to be an eternity before we saw the entrance again. U guys forget what punk is about ... unity ... not arguing over who likes who and whos crowds are wilder. me again the kid from cali who is a little stange. the Azul SUX!!!!!!!!! Hi. I'm Mr. Penis. I'm a big freakin Penis. Wax ur freakin nuts. The sound of the rip of the hair from the balls is a new "sound". a new....."genre".......We will call it "BrazilianBalls". A huge store filled with "BrazilianBalls" clothing and band items will be sold there, and myabe the name of the store will be "Flaming Nuts". Kids will then start wearing the new "BrazilianBalls" style, maybe Dildos on their head, to flastic nuts around their neck, i dont know, we have to see what becomes popular. But then bands like SImple Plan, Good SImple Charlotte, Avril, MxPx, will start claiming the "BrazilianBalls" style of music, and then "BrazilianBalls" will then die, and then its body will be infested by poser bands who have a cult following. The END. huh....you hold up a good story Blue boy.....yeah, but tell me this.....If you were so rich to go to all these fancy schools, how come you didn't get your dick circumcised? man this poor girl who wrote the review got fucking ripped to shreds.. we're not all fucking cool hipster douche bags! and it's not even like she was swooning over good charlotte or anything, fuck. haha - Azul's been to Lake Titicaca - you are the man Azul - we should hook up to go to concerts and you can teach me your ways of impressing the ladies. My family is very wealthy, I have gone to the best schools in Peru and have learned english from good teachers. My mama named me Azul because of her love for Lake Titicaca. I want you all to now I got my peepee touched last night by a american girl who was drunk at a party at my friend house. I am getting closer to being cool american who is going to do it. Peru girls are not as pretty as american girls and peru girls don't liked to do it. I want to be punk rock Haha Azul....who fucking names their kid "Blue"? I'll tell you who, NO ONE! Your just some 15 year old virgin with a uncircumcised penis and no life. If you were from Peru, you wouldnt be speaking pretty damn well now wouldnt you?! me again the kid from cali who is a little stange. azul keep ur damn pants on u little perve. lets all go get shirts at a tent called hot topic. the new found glory is hot. i love the CHad. the azul is a freak. me again the kid from cali who is a little stange. yes azul i like the Yellowcard the new found glory and the dick clake. havin sex isn't gonna make you a cool american kid. ur just still gonna be some creep like fez on that 70' show. go back to the paru me again the kid from cali who is a little strange. they made fun of rick james on the simpsons. oh no it's happening then dick clake oops clark. actually i like clake/ dick clake melts me again the kid from cali who is a little strange. rick james was a super freak super freak he's super freakin yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyoooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! what damn freak I didn't go. i live in california but i did go to the one at cal state fullerton. hope yuo guys had fun. hell i dont even know where randalls island is. did you guys here about that giant balloon at one of the shows? we had a kid get hit by a giant koosh ball out here. yea he died from a ball of rubber bands. top that! i'm an idiot and i don't need u 2 tell me that in ur reveiws. WARPED TOUR rox! HEll YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! Hi my name is Azul and I'm from Peru - I just came to America last year - my new American family took me to the warp tour for the very first time. I am loving bands like the yellowcard and the New Found Glory Hole and had good time at concert. They bought me a shirt from a tent called hot topic and a studded metal belt - just like Rob Halford wears. I got to see many good bands and I even tried to get into pants of pretty American girls - but they all laughed and called me a "fucking beaner" - I am 15 year old virgin, but want to have sex with many girls to be cool american boy - my friend showed me his penis once and told me to show him mine - I laughed and told him he was funny. I love this warp tour and can't wait to see it next year - maybe I will find american girl to stroke my uncircumcised penis. as long as the sponsers keep making money - warp will always exist until everyone get's fed up with it and boycotts - but that will never happen - so get used to it - you can either see your favorite bands there or hope that one day they might tour and play a small club - but that doesn't happen to often i went to the show in montreal. it was awful. not only did the weather suck ass, and the loser kids were throwing mud, but warped tour isn't even about music anymore. The last time I went was a few years ago. This year i couldn't believe the amount of merch booths, not only bands but every label, and anything considered the least bit punk had a booth. it's not a concert, it's a flea market with some bands playing here and there. No shit- it was 4.45 and tiger army was half way through there set and i missed it all because i couldn't find the stage because of the amount of booths. it was like a maze. I just want warped tour to back to being first and foremost about music and not cashing in. if it's going to be this way i hope it ceases to exist. Score is for The Mighty Anus Punchers - they put on a great show even though only like 5 people watched them - they just signed to Victory, so many next year the label will buy their way to a bigger stage Mighty Anus Punchers Rule ! I like how you made excuses for Thursday. I was at the show- the dirt wasn't that bad, relax. i can't fucking stand everyone walking around saying "I'm Rich James Bitch" I think I was getting my asshole rimmed by my lover while I jerked off to the news. I also think I shot my load right when I heard them announce his death - RIP Rick James am i the only happy one that rick james is finally dead?....when i first found out i baked a cake i was so happy..post what you did when you found out I don't know which is more annoying, Warped tour reviews or Jones the bones posts. i'm glad you put fall out boy in there, makes you seem at least a little open minded. also ironic that someone said "so does the rest of the high schoolers". and next time someone says nu-emo i will slit their throat, that is the worst term i've ever heard. don't tell this kid he writes shitty reviews because it's the only warped tour review i've seen all summer on this site. Crimpshrine albums on Lookout Records are "Duct Tape Soup" & "Sound Of A New World Being Born". I also forgot to mention great bands like The Doughboys, Chemical People, Zoinks!!, Gameface, Pinhead Gunpowder, The Pavers, Satanic Surfers, Ryan's Hope, Limp, Fall Out Boy, Big In Japan, The Effection, None More Black, 88 Fingers Louie, Trigger Happy, and Donuts 'N Glory..... and I could go on forever. Add These bands to the soundtrack of your life!! ...Crimpenshire? After reading the days review and spending some serious time looking through the dictionary, u pretty much covered it. Im not gonna sit here and say that you did well but you tried, and i respect you for that. "Anyone posting here, go to the first warped tour? I saw No Doubt, Quicksand, Gas Huffer, Good Riddance, No Use For A Name, and Wizo. Well, A bunch of bands no one cared about. Plus, nobody cared about all the punk politics you kids play. You should worship the music not the musician!! Fashion is for people who need it!! If you can't remember punk before 1991, before Warped tour there wasn't a forum for music like that. You kids take it for granted!! Not all bands can be for only you!! Nobody cares about your claim to fame, or the names you are dropping. All the Emo/ Punk terms sux. Go listen up to these bands of the 80's early 90's: Dag Nasty/ Gorilla Buscuits/ The Gits/ Fugazi/ Big Drill Car/NOFX/ Bad Religion/ Descendents/ALL/ Treepeople/ Op Ivy/ Green Day/ Screeching Weasel/ Crimshine/ Coffin Break etc... if ya want the origins of today's music!!" Anybody else go to Warped in ATL? The Underoath set got shut down, and they ended up shutting the stage down for the rest of the day. We rocked it hard...there were 2 pits in the formation of an 8, it was awesome. Avenged Sevenfold.....fucking amazing, that's all I can say. And yeah, Tiger Army ruled in ATL as well. Thanks Grandpa! Seriously though, i'd be lost without the internet and message boards. Where would i pick up this lingo and what bands would i be listening to. Shudders "Same major label bands reviewed in every review... Boring. Anyone posting here, go to the first warped tour? I'm hoping this break Thursday are taking is a long, long break. Preferably one where that guy never, ever sings again. thank you clevername, finally an intellegent person who knows how to give basic criticism. I only know about three Bled songs, which are "Red Wedding", "Sound Of Sulfur" and "Porcelain Hearts". I wasn't really impressed when I heard it, but I'll be sure to check them out again. Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it, but this is my review and i'm gonna take the flames for it. I had no problem with the dust. Then again, I wasn't retarded and put some thought into where I saw the bands from. For example, if you were at the left main stage, and the wind was blowing toward the right, then you are best suited to stand on the left side. Standing on the side to avoid the dust being blown by the wind doesn't decrease your visibility of the band, as you can get just as close and there is no dust to get in the way. Hey, I was at this show, and I think you did a pretty good job. "Ha now he's trying to play it cool and name some bands everyone will think he's cool for digging. So you enjoy Yellowcard, Thursday and Sugarcult - so does the rest of the high schoolers in Long Island. Don't sweat it. Bands Missed: RIver City Rebels "I went purely to go see Tiger Army, Bad Religion, Rise Against and Vandals. " "Please, just be honest, you did rock out like a bitch when Yellowcard played???Right?" Good(ish) review, but the guy who made the comment about the fact the same bands are constatntly reviewed is dead on. We have already heard how great Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, Rise Against and Anti-Flag are. And we have already heard how everyone chose to skip Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria and Thursday, because this will get you scene points. p.s. it WASNT that dirty, the layout isn't hard at all, you must be like, twelve. i was there with friends and we seperated ourselves plenty of times, and came across one another by chance anyway. you're a fag. "Please tell me why it's cooler to go the the smaller stages....when those bands just sounds exactly like the ones on the main stage?" Rise against played a solid set and NOFX was a huge disappointment. Ease off the reviewer tho eh?. While awkward at points at least it was detailed and in-depth. Rise against played a solid set and NOFX was a huge disappointment. Ease off the reviewer tho eh?. While awkward at points at least it was detailed and in-depth. "Some dude touched my package during Coheed and Cambria - I had a few drinks in me so I made out with the dude and soon enough his tongue ended up in my mouth. By the end of the set he had finished giving me a handjob and ran off never to hear from him again. *sigh*" ah alright, thanks for clearing that up bd, i thought it was the venue that set everything up. sorry about that. also, the tents for merch and food are set up that way according to who wakes up early enough to get a good spot. there is no predetermined order to where the tents go. although, the AP, Vans, volcom and epitaph tents were usually located near the volcom/maurice stages and the mainstage bands tents were usually grouped together. the objective being to keep your tent as close to the stage the band was playing as possible. it has nothing to do with the venue at all. randall's island is actually one of the few venues on the tour with actual space to accomodate that many booths. compared to some of the other stops on warped it seemed pretty spread out and comfortable. "oh and there defintely werent 10,000 people there" "I didn't know they let 10 year olds into the Warped Tour. Nice review jackass. Please tell me why it's cooler to go the the smaller stages....when those bands just sounds exactly like the ones on the main stage? I really fail to see how liking bands on the main stages is something to be embarrassed about.. how insecure would you have to be? I didn't know they let 10 year olds into the Warped Tour. Nice review jackass. Some dude touched my package during Coheed and Cambria - I had a few drinks in me so I made out with the dude and soon enough his tongue ended up in my mouth. By the end of the set he had finished giving me a handjob and ran off never to hear from him again. *sigh* Oh, and yes. The crap-band crowds are always the worst. I was there. Bad garbage fights during waiting on the line and nofx. Oh I forgot to mention, while perusing the sidestages, I saw a pair of pretty good bands called Sarcasm and All Rights Reserved. They were both sort of emo but good. I was at this date. Didn't see that many bands. The lineup was sort of weak. Anti-Flag was awesome. Motion City Soundtrack sounded tired. Rise Against was alright. Coheed sounded good I guess, but they're too sci-fi for me. Taking Back Sunday was awesome. Thursday was eh. I skipped town at 6:30 cuz I wanted to beat the rush, and because I didn't feel like waiting around for 90 mins just to see Brazil. I sort of wish I'd stayed some extra time to see Bad Religion though, knowing now what setlist they played. Trophy Scars was pretty good, but woulda been better had I known their material more. The couple sugarcult songs I saw were... Sugarcult, I guess. MCS ripped as usual, and had a huge fucking crowd. Rise Against was probably the best set of the day. Letter Kills was very eh. Coheed was annoying as usual. TBS was as expected (thats a bad thing). Audio Karate was fucking awesome. I thought Thursday was awesome, even though a lot of people didn't like them. It wasn't their fault they didn't have stage right guitar, there was some technical difficulty. Avenged Sevenfold played their songs flawlessly, except the singer was is a little off, live. Bad Religion was awesome, even though I spent most of the set looking for my friends. NoFX was just really chill and they played a fun and relaxing set. The 2 Brazil songs I heard were a little annoying live, but still pretty good. And that was my $120 day. I did end up with 5 cds and a t-shirt at the end of the day though. And i had a lot of food/drinks. you made the wrong choice -Trophy Scars were pretty good, and their bassist is hilarious. I was at this. the line was easy to cut in, its lame to do, but it looked to be a mile long. motion city soundtrack and piebald were the best two bands there. thursday put on a pretty good show despite the fact one side of the stage's speakers didn't work. it was hard for them to top their performance in columbia last week though this was my first stab at a review, its not that good i admit it, i just wanted to take a shot at it and see what happened. how could you possibly miss the bouncing souls and flogging molly???????? i mean rise against is good, but still, what is wrong with you? uhh i don't get why more people don't cut the line. i was in line for maybe twenty minutes. buncha goddamn squares and nobodies got in my way, hadda do what i hadda do. Thursday is taking a break/not making music for a while?? "--somehow i seriously doubt a yellowcard crowd is anything similar to seeing the Locust. my guess is you are possibly brain dead? your mom did a lot of coke when she had you? things just aren't adding up, chief." TINC must have been awesome. "Now, I thought I was in a crazy crowd during Bad Religion, being in the Yellowcard crowd was like being in a fucking Locust crowd!" especially since thursday is breaking up, eh scotty? I liked my review better When I saw Thursday at Curiosa, they didn't play "Jet Black New Year." If they don't play it this Sunday at Strhessfest, they'll have hell to pay. | Features
