In the five years that I worked at a grocery store, I had the opportunity to hear some of the most annoying questions ever asked. Not a day would go by when I didn’t hear someone pose a question like “Where did my car go?” or “What store am I in?” Customers would come in during the overnight shift drunk as hell and vomit on the floor. The worst was when a broken fire alarm went off for 5 straight hours. However, as high as the level of irritation was in my short career as a cashier, it all pales in comparison to being the lead singer of Further Seems Forever. You’ve all probably heard most of the history of this band by now. If you haven’t, I suggest reading this, then this, followed by this, and just for the hell of it, play this. That’ll save a bunch of space, and bring us to August 24th, 2004, where Tooth & Nail’s most popular band released its third full length album “Hide Nothing”, featuring their third lead singer in Jon Bunch from the now defunct Sense Field. It wasn’t too long ago that ex-vocalist Jason Gleason constantly had to field a high multitude of queries pertaining to the whereabouts of Chris Carabba. Imagine being Jon Bunch; not only does he have to sing songs that he didn’t write, but he has to sing songs from two different vocalists as well. Whereas Gleason had a long time before releasing an album worth of his own songs, Bunch at least has his own album out relatively quickly. And wouldn’t you know it, it’s not that bad. Fans dreading a drastic turn for the worse, fear not: This is still a Further Seems Forever album, and many of the band’s familiar characteristics remain in place once again. Tempos change, guitars swirl, and dynamics shift from a dull roar to a soft rumble seemingly at random. The title track may be the band’s greatest song since “New Year’s Project”, as Bunch delivers with fantastic vocals over one hell of a rock song. I must’ve listened to “Light Up Ahead” at least 20 times now, and I’m still singing it in my head. Anyone who doubted Bunch’s ability to live up to Further Seems Forever’s past work should be pleasantly surprised with this disc. However, if this album is guilty of anything, it’s that some songs seem to borrow too much from the singers of the past. “Like Someone You Know” could’ve come right off of “How to Start a Fire”, Gleason’s vocals included. At many moments, it’s hard to tell if the band was trying to branch out into new territory, or make a carbon copy of their last album with a new singer. If you can get past that, “Hide Nothing” is a great record, and presuming Bunch sticks around, their next album will probably be even better. I’ve always maintained that Further Seems Forever has the best dynamics of any band of the genre, and James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Gatsby’s American Dream) does a fantastic job of creating a very gentle atmosphere at times (“Already Gone”, “All Rise”), and then when it’s time to get loud, songs like “Make It A Part” deliver with force. Lyrically speaking, topics remain very positive and hopeful, and in a maneuver that will genuinely upset at least 5 readers, the word “Lord” is used several times in “For All We Know”. If you go to see them live, it’s very likely that two things will happen. One, someone in the crowd will undoubtedly yell, “Why aren’t you Jason?” or “Are you in Dashboard Confessional?” And two, you might find yourself saying to your friends how badly Jon Bunch sings the old Further Seems Forever songs. However, there is no denying that he has made the band his own now, and he’s got a solid album to prove it.

"make it a part" is such a great song. ha...no hockey now, jackasses! ok for everyone who is saying that fsf is the same as all of the other shit out there, you obviously know nothing about music. for example let me explain "punk" or "emo" to you. musically that is...... a 4 or 5 chord progression either really sped up (punk) or drawn out in the case of emo. now fsf musically is amazing. just take an actual listen and uncover alot of the 5/4 timings and the beautifully layered guitar tracks (mostly finger picked) and creativity this band posses musically. and if you do play the guitar or bass try to keep up with this and im sure it will take you lots of work. and the drummer holy shit. thats all i can say is holy shit. i sure as hell liked how to start a fire the best, but this album in my opinion holds up just as well. also, the soundtrack to the passion of the christ is instrumental, thus listening to it wouldn't actually have anything to do with god, other than an association in name. You'd get nothing godly out of it. "If i wanted to listen to an entire album about god, i'll just pop in the soundtrack for the passion of christ. " Pats 27 - Colts 17 on Thursday This score is for my last post which should have had a score of 10. This score is for MVP Baseball 2005 on Xbox Live next year. This score is for NFL 2K5, NHL 2K5, NBA 2K5 and everything else 2K5 being sold for 20 bucks. new singer is a power tool "If i wanted to listen to an entire album about god, i'll just pop in the soundtrack for the passion of christ. " Yeah, we'd just pick up any Czech player we could. We ended with slugs like Beranek and Dome. An especially brilliant pick up was Roman Oskiuta, who ended up with an eating because everyone kept calling him fat. Remember when we were the Czech national team? Hlinka as coach (and didn't speak english) plus hrdina, jagr, lang, straka etc... we had like 10 Czech's on our team. all that done to keep baby jagr happy. what an asshole. I like Edzo because he shows emoton, he's like the antithesis of Kehoe. The Pens could've gotten a 5 minute major in OT of game 7 in the finals and Kehoe would've stood there with his arms crossed and chewed his gum. yea chelios has already said he's going to go into coaching after hockey, expect to see him as a head coach in the near future. I'd take him, but edzo is great if you ask me. Old yes, but they also made some questionable picks like Blake and Konowalchuk. Hull shouldn't have made the team either, but Chelios, despite his age has earned his place as a strong leader. I think the US team is too old and slow. this team woulda been sick in 1998 or so but they need some youth. Its a bunch of superstars past their prime that dont' seem to gel as a team at all. I mean i have alot of respect for modano, chelios and such, but they can't match the speed of either team they've played thusfar. hull is 40, chelios 42!, modano's over 30, as is amonte. Esche their goalie is the only one doing their job. the D let 40 shots on goal each game so far and the offense can't get more than 1 goal (tkachuk and guerin got them, also both over 30). Canada has looked good, whereas the US team looks horrible. I guess someone forgot to tell these guys that you need to go the net to get goals, not just try a million cross ice passes. You're right forty, we didnt' extend Aubin an offer. He's sat out on waivers before and no one picked him up. "If i wanted to listen to an entire album about god, i'll just pop in the soundtrack for the passion of christ." Aubin is sort of in limbo, I don't believe the Pens extended him an offer. He is being courted by a WHA team, if I recall correctly. If i wanted to listen to an entire album about god, i'll just pop in the soundtrack for the passion of christ. "another lame band crying about girls", have you even heard this album smuck? The whole album is about God. If you have a problem with that you are a complete moron. As far as my opinion goes this album is huge step forward compared to jason. The lyrics are simplistic but the message is what saves them completely. Yet nothing will probably top the moon is down. wait a minute... did the pens trade aubin? hockey? im in on this. Another lame band crying about girls. Do you really think these FAT losers have ever had girlfriends?? I dont fucking think so. I wouldn't consider Morozov young talent. He's a bit of an enigma if anything, a perpetual underachiever. The Pens still have his NHL rights, so it's not like they totally lost him. Morozov signed a deal that he won't be playing for the NHL at all this year. He's going to stay over in Russia. Francis rejected Carolina's offer for a front office job, so maybe he'll be back for next season. I'd hate to see him go out the way he did, benched in his last game. I think Pittsburgh would actually be more helped than hurt by no/partial season. Nintendo's Ice Hockey was the shit... Stack the team with all fat guys and run over the opposition and hit coast to coast slap shots. Golddman those were the days. Is there a NESticle for Mac OSX? Yeah, this whole no season thing really pisses me off, I was looking forward to this year's Pens. agnostic front is for faggots. yea i'm pretty stoked for next season forty. Lemieux is still the shit and could easily have a 30 goal season if he stays healthy for over half of it. Rechhi has had 5 straight 20 plus goal seasons, including 26 last year and led the flyers in points last year. Malone was one of the top 5 rookies last year and had a 20plus goal season on the pens. he could hit 30 next year playing on lemieux's right. Pirjeta showed lots of promise, Kraft finally came into his own and could be a 20 goal scoring second line center. Koltsov and fata have the tools to be 20 plus goalment and can both fly, next year could be their breakout. don't forget rookie Malkin who has been compared to Lecavlier, sakic, thorton and god knows how many other amazing forwards. this roster is definately oiur most promising in a few years. Lemieux can still put up numbers. Aside from that, the Pens need more of a veteran presence. Last year, the refs never gave them the benefit of the doubt, the officials should give them more respect with Recchi and Lemieux on the roster. "Lemiuex should just retire already.... " hey darkstorm, you're confusing your years. gob/treble charger were on 2003 (my fav) sum41 was 2002. "Blades of Steel for NES was the best hockey game ever" NFL2K5 is very good but I still miss Madden and will probably buy it. NFL 2K5 is lots better though. I first played an NHL 2k game on Dreamcast and ever since then I have been in love with that franchise. EA's NHL games are way too easy. NHL 2K5 here I come! NHL 95 was awesome though. You could definiteley shoot the puck at the ref and knock him down, awesome shit. I saw their first show with the new singer, he was awful, but the cd is very good. "Since "cheapshot/turtle" Lemiuex and "arrogant" roy left, they don't have many to dislike other than forsberg. Well, maybe foote. " Forget about being in Sensefield, Bunch's best days were in Reason To Believe, and now he's in one of the most undeserving hyped bands of this century. I feel sorry for him and what's become of him. I saw some pics too, sad. This band is nothing new, nothing groundbreaking, i hear alot of stuff that sounds better than this, similar style even. Although i will say it's better than anything Sensefield did after Building, it's still just all hype, i guess when you have a bunch of people telling you that you should like a band, people actually start believing it, and that's why people like that Tooth and Nail trash. But hey, this is good for Revelation Reocrds right, they'll be able to sell a few hundred copies of Sensefield "Building" to all of the FSF little girls who are afraid to buy "secular" bands records. yikes! Moe Mantha passes the puck to Dougy Gilmour HE SCORES! This one goes out to the Minnesota North Stars and da Kbec Nordiques' "Madden is terrible. If it wasn't for "floppy" forsberg, i wouldn't care for Colorado. But until he runs back to Sweeden, I will hate Colorado. man you guys are gay...this cd fuckin kicks ass Madden is terrible. Lemiuex should just retire already.... The only reason I have nhl '93 is for the fighting and the blood spill afterword. In NHL 95 for Sega I won the Art Ross trophy w/ Tom Barasso. I'd just trade away the offensive players once they got too many points and Barasso had like 200 assists and maybe a goal. Blades of Steel for NES was the best hockey game ever I had 98 for PC, I can't remember if you could hit the refs in that version or not. hey, remember when TOoth and Nail put out GOOD records? not just fodder for the sheep to gobble.... I'd wanna go see this band just to yell out songs from "Building." Someone should do that instead of requesting old songs from Mr. Emo. I had 98 for PC, I can't remember if you could hit the refs in that version or not. But, beating Fraser could be its own game. In '98 for PS1 you could level the referee remember that? it became such second nature to me that I could still make a great defensive hit and find time to hand kerry frasier his shit on my way back up the ice! (penalties off obviously) but for that kid dissing tooth and nail, you should check out the band mewithoutYou. They are a really good band. Yeah, the one timer was a big deal. But, the best part about 93 is when you would injure someone during a fight, they'd slide to the penalty box on their back. 95 was weird, but it also had a season mode and create a player "I'd say either 94 or 95, although 93 is tempting too, it has blood." Yeah, and some people buy candy corn every year at Halloween. It just shows that some people have horrible taste. This score is for Tooth and Nail records for releasing 300 albums in 10 years and still retaining fans like myself. This new FSF album is the best release they have ever attempted and a stab above all of the clutter out there. Just as Strongarm were innovative, so is FSF. I'd say either 94 or 95, although 93 is tempting too, it has blood. Forty, i have religeously played NHL for EA since i got NHLPA '93 when it was new. I own every one since. I thought NHL2004 was god awful. I will buy nhl2k4 on your advice. I then want to meet you somwhere in the pittsburgh area and show you how badly I can OWN anyone at hockey video games. Yeah, NHL 95 is one of my favorite games of all time, but EA has really gone downhill. The best part about create a player in 2k5 is that you can mix and match first and last names. In EA, if you wanted to make, say, Ryan Whitney (Pens prospect) he'd just be called Ryan. But, in 2k you can pick Ryan for his first name and Whitney for his last, and he'll be referred to as Ryan Whitney. Also, Ovechkin's name is in the game. Scores for a bunch of Canadians talking about hockey. this album is alright. The Flames are a one year wonder dude. Besides that, Iginla fights with a visor on. Don Cherry should be outraged. oops i meant the gleason album sucked. my bad. Score is for Mario Lemeiux trying to kill steve konawalchuk for no reason in last nights USA/Canada match. "Meant to give 2k5 a ten. Anyway, Sega > EA. EA's new hockey game doesn't even have create player." Never heard any songs from this band, no intention/desire of hearing any songs from this band. one of the most overrated bands out there. you guys are assclowns, this band is great. I like this album. I was doubtful of Bunch, but I think he's a great replacement. Jason Gleason is just a fashion core bitch anyways. i want a 2005 xterra. fuck you Good one bsd hahaha that was a well written review. this album is good, give it a chance... this band's talent sets them apart from the rest... great dynamics NHL2k5 was in stores yesterday. I thought NHL 2K5 didn't ship till tomorrow. damnit. I can't wait to pass this up. I can't wait to pick this up. that's probably due to poor sales bro remember when sense field used to be good? then they got AWFUL. and now the singer is in this band. that must have been a serious blow to his ego, to go from being in a pioneering/well respected/often amazing post-hardcore band into being in the poster children for stereotypical emo-punk. that said, i actually think fsf is a cut above the other bands in said genre, but they're still generic as fuck. this score is for sega sports titles only coming out on ps2 and xbox. i'm not sure if nintendo or sega is to blame for these games not coming to the gamecube, but regardless, it's disappointing. The few songs i've heard from them suck monkey balls. why are they even releasing hockey games this year? its not like there's going to be a season why are they even releasing hockey games this year? its not like there's going to be a season Tooth & Nails most popular band is and always will be Mxpx I fucking hate Tooth and Nail records. carrabba should have stayed with FSF or the Vacant Andys, both were great with em even if u hate him now. Meant to give 2k5 a ten. Anyway, Sega > EA. EA's new hockey game doesn't even have create player. It was just a suggestion, BSD. And I want NHL '05. :( The cover art reminds me of the anadivine ep.. This band is horrible. "You’ve all probably heard most of the history of this band by now. If you haven’t, I suggest reading this, then this, followed by this, and just for the hell of it, play this." Fuck this carbon copied crap, lets get the new Leftover crack cd on review here! i can't wait until this band comes out with 'bring me the head of chris carraba'. I liked the last album a lot.... i hope this one is as good... this band sucks------------ first biotches |
