I'm actually surprised that no one has reviewed any of The Velvet Underground's records. I decided to start with my favorite. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
dude who are those guys on the cover? i don't see slash or scott anywhere! the velvet underground are great, but this is by far their worst record. I'd say the first album is the best, followed closely by White Light/White Heat, then Loaded. Live at Max's Kansas City is cool but really sounds almost like another band with the change in the rhythm section. Okay, I'll admit that this album is better than the 1969 live discs and the 1993 live reunion discs. talk about a band name influencing ratings... everyone of you needs to re-play this album. it's not that good brilliant band. black angel death song of VU and Nico is one of my all time favorites brilliant band. black angel death song of VU and Nico is one of my all time favorites overrated pretentious bullshit. i'm off to listen to minus the bear...real music. John Cale's solo stuff is amazing i like it more than lou's This is a great great album. There are no bad VU albums. As for the Lou Reed material, go with Transformer for the radio stuff, Blue Mask and Legendary Hearts for some great work with Robert Quine, and Berlin and New York to round it out. pale blue eyes is one of the best love songs of all time(even though the girl reed wrote about actually had hazel eyes but he said blue worked better in the song) No. Get Transformer and New York. Those are the only two Lou Reed albums you need. Buy them in chronological order, because they just get worse. The only VU album I own is VU & Nico - which should I get next? Nico was fucking hot too. and you also have Andy Warhol to thank for her addition. Nico's songs were great. Nico's solo career is also great. She was an integral part of VU, and "Chelsea Girl" is practically another VU album. everyone knows that The Velvet Underground are better than every band there is/was. Thats all you need to say in a review. I hate people. VU & Nico is great for the songs that Nico isn't on, but White Light/White Heat is definitely better than it. Loaded has some good songs, but generally is shitty. "The Murder Mystery is one of the coolest fucking songs ever written." i'm beginning to see the light, yeah! This is the only review put on yesterday that's actually real punk. This is on a major label? How the hell did it make it onto this hardcore-punk-underground website? White Light/White Heat is most definitly their best. I love everything about it, from the fuzzy sound to the epic scale of Sister Ray I like Vu & Nico better than White Light/White Heat, this is the onl official studio release of theirs I haven't heard in full but would like to.I'll just give it a 10 assuming the songs I know off of it are as good as the whole thing. this is soooo boring. this does not get 10 stars. did anyone think this would get any less than 5 stars when they saw it in the new reviews list? Their second being White Light/White Heat? I go back and forth on which one I like better. That or this. Actually, someone did review "VU & Nico". It's easily better than this one. Their second was their best, though. This is a shitty review, I wrote it like 3 months ago. The Murder Mystery is one of the coolest fucking songs ever written. and the Velvet Underground can never be overrated, they were completely different from their contemporaries and Lou Reed is the fucking man. While Minus the Bear are good, they are in no way superior to the Velvet Underground. overrated pretentious bullshit. i'm off to listen to minus the bear...real music. |
