One of the worst tragedies in music is when something like filler brings down an album’s score that would otherwise be perfect. Such is the case with Fordirelifesake’s Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
holy nuts this album is good this is their worst release, which is a shame, because they were one of my all time favorite bands. maybe becuz of so many line-up changes? all the real metalheads in the band are gone? How come nobody pointed out the hidden track on the end that sounds like the Darkness? I think this review is absolutely dead on. Great 5 1/2 song CDEP, but contracts are contracts. This CD is freaking awesome. I don't care what anyone else says. :) The subtleties of this album highlight the depth and diversity of this band as musicians. To ignore the instrumentals and interludes would be like reading only the first and last sentences of every paragraph in a great book. True, some of the songs are slightly long to the point of pretentiousness but the interludes serve a vital role in the general tone of this album. A more discriminating ear would have noticed that while the outro appears to be rather repetitive, there is actually some excellent bass work being done. Remember everything is done for a reason. I don't see a problem with the "instrumental tracks." They're interludes, and I don't think they disrupt the flow of the record. The NIN cover, however, disrupts the flow because NIN is such a terrible band, and it was the mistake of the century to choose that song to cover. However, FDLS clearly made the most palatable rendition of anything Trent Reznor's ever done. Did the use of "metalcore" five times in this reveiw seem excessive? That having been said, great review, the filler definately pisses me off as well and the NIN cover is no where near as good as the original. "Dude, I'd be careful if I were you. Last time there was a poster using the name Scott, Kirby killed him and hid the body under a bunch of H20 CDs." Dude, I'd be careful if I were you. Last time there was a poster using the name Scott, Kirby killed him and hid the body under a bunch of H20 CDs. "on my copy that i downloaded, there are no instrumentals." Best record by a heavy band in a long time. dear kirby, it bothers me when people put down a cd when their copy is clearly a pre-release promo, when in actuality the cd is genius. on my copy that i downloaded, there are no instrumentals. everyone that says this band sucks clearly has no opinion or has never heard them. Fordirelifesake is an awesome band. I am a fan and I have seen them more times than I can count on my fingers. metal sucks, metalcore isn't cool you stupid fucks, the bands are only in it for the bucks, and if you don't believe me you're a schumck Holy shit! I didn't know this had come out. I am picking this bad boy up today! metal sucks, metalcore isn't cool you stupid fucks, the bands are only in it for the bucks, and if you don't believe me you're a schumck What sets Fordirelifesake apart from other metalcore bands is that one guitarist who is in constant shred mode. This album is pretty disappointing, their older stuff is much better. This album blows. Anybody want a free promo of it. Oh wait too bad I threw it in the trash a couple of weeks ago. this record was suppose to be an ep at first and then their record label just add some shit to it. The track "Something's Missing" is absolutely essential (the REAL best track onthe CD!). There IS way too much filler on this CD! The intro track sounds almost identical to the worse song (that VERY emo one) on that Nevea Tears CD! fordirelikesake.....more like fordyeyourhairblack i rather liked this cd. "Uh, or the Presbyterian Church." Uh, or the Presbyterian Church. That giant flame logo on the cover belongs to Hot Water Music. i had liked the stuff i had heard from this band on their earlier albums but i was not too impressed by this. the female singing threw me off on the second or third track (dont remember) This band sucks solely on it's name and the name of it's album. There's no reason to cover "March of Pigs." That song is just fine the way it is. |
