Shit. I don't think I can do this band justice in a review. But I'll try.

Wolf Eyes is a three piece experimental freakout loop based crazy ass fuck shit up electronica group that slaughtered song structure. Have you ever listened to NIN and said, "Bah, too much structure, I need noise. Lots of it."? Wolf Eyes man, Wolf Eyes is your answer.

The songs seem to blend together, and it's hard to really listen to them coherently, as the music is, well, mostly noise with piercing howls and screams on top of it. They don't mind letting ambient noise run for minutes at a time, and they don't mind if it doesn't make sense to you. Someone out there gets it, and loves this band.

This is Wolf Eyes first release on a large label, and to be honest, the first I've heard of and heard them. I guess they released tons of self-recorded demos and tapes and live shows and crazy shit like that. But that's just what I hear. This shit is crazy. I can't stress that enough.

I'm sorry, I told you this review is going to suck, and it did. It sucks. This is a much better review. Cloak and Dagger have an awesome review of it too.

I dunno...I think it's making me paranoid – this is the type of shit that makes you freaked out just be listening to it. It's scary fucking music man...scary.

To the idiot a couple posts down. This IS music, it is purely haunting, and, after a few listens from beginning to end, it DOES have a cohesive almost "melodic" structure to it's mayhem. One of the best bands around today....and their live show kills. Think Black Flag meets Throbbing Gristle and you'll get an idea. Maniacal.

ok. anyone who says they like this shit is either stupid or a liar or both. it's not music. it's ridiculous feedback, noise, and farting computers. the only thing "scary" about this "band" is that they managed to get a contract to put this crap on cd. what was sub pop thinking?

the comets on fire album is great... but this is nowhere the same level. there a some interesting moments on this disk, but most of it is incredibly boring. the only reason i would kill myself is to be saved from the boredom i experience

It's Sub Pop man. That's a huge label.

I know what you mean about Wolf Eyes and Comets on Fire. Definitely two solid releases from that label this year. Crazy, hunh? It was awesome to review those CDs because otherwise I never would have heard of them. Both solid, solid releases.

    My Score:

Wow, Comets on Fire and Wolf Eyes. Two good records from Subpop in one year. That Subpop would actually release this shows there must be someone new working there in A&R. An obvious comparison is Throbbing Gristle and/or Whitehouse but not as good as either of those. It is annoying to see this record get reviewed everywhere while the rest of the noise scene goes completely unnoticed. Hopefully Wolf Eyes will help push the unknowns...

"Is that Good for Cows CD suppose to awe you upon first listen? I'm not feeling it so far."

I liked it right away, and still do, but I can see it being a grower. Not everyone's cup of tea.

one more instance of the detroit scene ruling. they opened for the locust in the shelter (yes sort of the same one that is in 8 mile) and they weren't really my bag but the way everyone ran out of the room into the hallway was really funny to me

Good record. Also it should be noted that Andrew WK was in this band for alittle bit.

Good review, awesome album. Kudos to you for mentioning the Pitchfork review which was indeed a little better.

honestly, you want a review of this record? i make my computer be my alarm clock, and one of the songs from this record woke me up one morning and i wanted to kill myself. the sound coming from the speakers was the most horrid painful thing i have ever heard. i know this is exactly how music has been denigrated in the past, but music in the past tended to consist of more than reverb and screeching. for the occasional note, listen to every other band ever.

scarys a good way to describe it.

when I saw this was reviewed,I was 100% sure it was done by jesse.

interesting note about the band: 2 of them almost gave up this project to move to new york to be in andrew WKs back up band.

    theyre crazy live.
