Like many kids growing up in California during the past two decades, Epitaph Records recording artists played a heavy role in my musical influence over the years. Whether it was wearing out the needle on my turntable with “Peace Thru Vandalism” or roaming the Bay Area to check out the live shows, there was no mistake: you could count on Epitaph for an excellent, consistent and revolutionary lineup of bands. Bay Area locals Rancid were perhaps one of my favorites. There seemed to always be a good lineup at the early Rancid shows. As the notoriety of the band grew they paved the way for many of the smaller supporting acts, giving back to the scene in a way few others have. Of course when I heard that Tim Armstrong and the brass at Epitaph had started sister label Hellcat Records I was very excited at the prospect of seeing what that relationship would produce.

Definitely a good album. Give "Em The Boot is easily the best compilation out there. Ever one that comes out it also gets better and better. I find this to be just an amazing comp and there are so many good songs on there. I love the live version of Junto Parter by Joe Strummer and the Mascelaros and Trauma by The Mercy Killers too. There is maybe 1 or 2 songs on here that I'm not fond of, but I can defanitally listen to this CD all the way through time after time. anyone notice the BLATANT rip-off of the riff from Metallica's Hit the Lights (opening track on "Kill 'em All") by the Roughnecks - Lost Paradise? it's so similar i thought at first it was a cover... hope those greedy bastards don't catch wind of that one... Lost Paradise is still a kickass song though. def woth the couple $$ i think i got it for 5.99 does anyone know when the hell cat dvd is coming out converge has been around for over 10 years and have toured constantly throughout, they are heart incarnate. cave in, maldoror/merzbow, recoil, depeche mode, cynic, converge, gorilla biscuits, the smiths, joy division. those are some fo the artists i've been fond of lately... cave in, maldoror/merzbow, recoil, depeche mode, cynic, converge, gorilla biscuits, the smiths, joy division. those are some fo the artists i've been fond of lately... cave in, maldoror/merzbow, recoil, depeche mode, cynic, converge, gorilla biscuits, the smiths, joy division. those are some fo the artists i've been fond of lately... well i don't really listen to emo, but i'd rather listen to bands with passion for music rather than a bunch of smelly gutterpunks who only listen to bands on epitaph as if bad religion are the beatles of our generation... Firstly, this album is seriously lacking a stza related band, compared to the other 3. Secondly, to the idiot who said something about Romper Stomper being a Skrewdriver cover, Romper Stomper has absolutely nothing to do with Skrewdriver. Romper Stomper was an Australian movie about nazi skins starring Russell Crowe. The soundtrack featured a studio band playing some generic Oi type songs. Those songs frequently make their way onto P2P networks mislabelled as Skrewdriver songs. well i don't really listen to emo, but i'd rather listen to bands with passion for music rather than a bunch of smelly gutterpunks who only listen to bands on epitaph as if bad religion are the beatles of our generation... -i'm not the one buying this album. this music = vaginal queefs committed to analogue tape. You are one dumb motherfucker truly the worst music on the face of the planet. Question: What ever happened to Mouthwash??? truly the worst music on the face of the planet. I hate the sc riot squad! I was saying this was mediocre compared to the last releases. There is not of that sweet consistent flow compared to the others. Instead it just sounds a little bit forced, and most of the punk is sub-par compared to the old ones. Orange and Brain Failure have to be the best punk, and Aggrolites and Crhis Murray are the best ska. He really needs to sign those bands instead of the Unseen. I went to pick up my lil bro from Middle Schooly yesterday and a kid had a Leftover Crack shirt, you can bet i was laughing my ass off. This comp gives me indigestion. The score is for the image of 14 year old kiddies creaming themselves everywhere over this release. Got this today. One word, mediocre. Psychobilly is the new ska? You're a fucking moron! if only emo/screamo would suffer the same fate. pyschobilly is the new ska.. give it a year or 2 and it will be dead. "I hope to fucking god that the "Romper Stomper" cover by the transplants isn't a cover of Skrewdriver. I hope to fucking god that the "Romper Stomper" cover by the transplants isn't a cover of Skrewdriver. Maybe that is why Tim started to think about the money. Maybey he is trying to get her back with gold studs. anyone whos wondering why the distillers arent on here has been living in a cave for a few years..... THe tracklisting isn't spilt up into 'section' like 2 and 3 was....it's all over the map at once, like the first GETB, and it works sooo well. I haven't heard this yet, but what i will say is that the first GETB comp was so good, that i bought a copy for each one of my friends (i was in france when it came out and got them for like two bucks each for some reason) and every single one of us still listen to it. That silencers song man.... God damn. The ska is always the best part of the series. What?!?!? tim armstrong fucks young girls. that artwork comment was top notch Easily worth 5 bucks, good shite-oldpunker- Quality artwork as always. So I argued that this didn't deserve a 10 but accidentally gaev it one anyway. I'm so smart. Hmmmmmmmm. Is this really a 10? "Unreleased" Rancid track has been released at least twice before (on the All Fall Down single and the vinyl version of the album as well I think). Plus that Chris Murray song was on one of the Asian Man comps years ago. Plus lack of unreleased Disasters after two whole years is a major disappointment. Chinatown is sleeping w/ Jones The Bones................... Damn, that's a nice show. This Friday 11/12/04 @ 5pm(doors) ALL AGES @ Axis hey guys, LARS FREDRIKSEN HAS SKUNX TATTOOED ON HIS HEAD Yes, that's here, but what about his lable? onetruebill....Best Buy? Come on. Surely you're being sarcastic. which is what i used to think you were doing all the time, but then i caught on and realized youre just a moron.....Score is for this awesome comp. All you punk police can shut up about Armstrong and the Transplants and "Viking" and everything else hellcat related that youve had a problem with in the last 2 years or so. Tim has assembled a near-flawless collection of bands here and its the best 5 bucks youll spend this year. Where are they silencers? The first Give 'Em the Boot was goddamn awesome. "Does anyone elses CD not play the songs from the Ducky Boys, SC Drunx, or Pressure Point? I tried it on three different CD players but none of the songs play. They can't even be imported to my computer. Is this a manufacturing problem or a lone CD problem?" You should write reviews instead of Kirby. "Anyone else notice that according to the notes, Jen Johnson is now back in F-Minus, and now they're a three guitar band? HOLY SHIT" important stuff here For reviews of v/a cds Ithink it would be awesom if the reviewer posted the tracks in a list so it is easier at a glance to read. Note though that “Junco Partner" is in fact not a Clash original, it was by New Orleans based pianist James Booker. The original is quite rad too. "But I'll fucking skank till the day I die." Anyone else notice that according to the notes, Jen Johnson is now back in F-Minus, and now they're a three guitar band? HOLY SHIT!! Yes, they are some of the best comps out there. Very well put together. I forsee psychobilly going the way of ska, except not as fast sadly. "Ska doesn't sell anymore" People give crap to Tim Armstrong and crew all the time, but I mean...you can't argue that Give Em the Boot is probably one of the top compliation series ever.... Ska doesn't sell anymore... "no king django???? Score is for Chris Murray to finally get the mainstream exposure that he deserves. no king django???? excellent compilation - well worth the $5 .....10 for a comp? granted, i give too high of scores some times, but i don't think its this good.... A compilation can never get a 10. Never! This looks good. socre is for the Ducky Boys I was wondering if this came out today or not. Best Buy here I come. |
