Circles Over Sidelights impressed me earlier this year with their debut full-length, On Becoming A Person…. Though it wasn’t groundbreaking or entirely original, they did the Swedish-influenced metalcore thing very well. The age of the members, which I’m sure they’re sick of hearing about, also surprised me. These guys wrote a strong CD and they were just out of high school. On their follow-up release, What Is And What Is To Become, the band could have stuck with that same style; I wouldn’t have minded a bit. However, not wanting to be pigeonholed, this time around they shot for something a bit more ambitious.

im listening to it now. great. buy it The debut was phenom, I can't wait to buy this. Great review too, and the Hydra Head comment made me cream my pants. the sccore is for their live show, i saw them at some coffee shop around chardon i think, real good stuff. i hate hardcore, but loved the show. who cares 'what the kids like'? if Forty wants to review hardcore, which he obviously does, then he will, and you have no control over it. good review, i will be checking them out. good review, i'll check this out if i can. these guys live down the street from me The Backstreet Boys have a new name, and it's The Black Maria! this hardcore stuff just isn't that popular anymore man, the kids are digging the idie stuff now. |
