This Atlanta, GA foursome only started late 2003, and recently signed a deal with the Search And Rescue label. It was about time I reviewed something coming from this label, because the previous stuff I obtained from them was pretty good as well, with bands like Bensin, Greyfield and The Chiodos Brothers (who were recently picked up by Equal Vision Records, FYI). Although those all deserved some more of my attention, they somehow never really got me into reviewing them. But The Sophomore Year is definitely the most promising band of the lot if you like your New Found Glory or Millencolin in a new jacket.

Bad band name, awful album name, pretty good music. I ordered the CD on a total impulse, let's hope I don't regret it. They should call themselves the sophomore slump. Wait, Hein, did you just say Staring Back? I dont need to read anymore, I'm checking these guys out right fucking now. Saw these guys live. They're good at what they play, but not my style. Being from GA...i've seen/heard these guys several times. don't understand the appeal. Good GOD. I used to not understand everyone's problem with this emo shit, but I think I see now. What a ridiculous album title. That is one hell of a cheap cover. All the same, worth checking out methinks. The perfect follow up for A Thorn For Every Heart for worst band/album title ever. |
