I agree with the person below me. It's different. It's a good record. So what if it's not "punk?" Hardly any of the bands covered on this site are "punk."

As far as Linda Perry writing "Save Me"...I read a couple of interviews where Scott Russo says that he already had the song written with about 8 or 9 different choruses. None of the choruses were up to par with the record execs at Lava, so they offered to hook him up with some professional songwriters like The Matrix, Linda Perry, etc. Scott says he picked Linda Perry because he is a fan of her work in Four Non Blondes etc., and thinks that she's a cool person.

As far as Wade being fired from the band, do a google search with Wade Youman fired, and there ya go for both sides of the story.

Just because this CD is different than the others doesn't mean it's not good ~ Get in the car take a drive and listen to it you might change your minds

Unwritten Law at one point was considered...punk. They have a few fast songs off S/T.

Very cool album! Still has the unwritten law sound to it, its definalty not like there older stuff though, but still has the unmistakable ul guitar riffs. It seems people today love all that screamo punk/rock stuff and hate all the old pop punk bands.
The album rocks, good beats, catchy lyrics, UL have always been like this, so stop bitchy about how simple the lyrics are!

who the fuck is steve. as far as i know scott russo has been singing for them since blue room came out. i am a huge unwritten law fan and this album is truely a let down. no hooks. no way. as far as classifiying music is concerned, fuck that shit. good music can stand for itself, regardless of where Best Buy shelves it. i never thought unwritten law could let me down....i guess i will have to keep listening to blue room.

Unwritten Law is not a punk band anymore. Everyone needs to just calm themselves. Steve's voice has gotten progressively better and more interesting since the first cd's. They are a rock band now from ELVA to this CD. Theres no need to bash just to be punk. It's funny how you have people comparing this to P.Diddy and britney spears, I mean, talk about pushing the limit just a bit. This CD is soft at times, but soft parts in songs are sometimes good.

This album is much much better than Elva but much much worse than their self titled. Elva was boring from start to finish. This one has quite a few boring songs but I do like songs 5, 6, 11, 12 and the hidden song.

My expectations for this cd were very low so I can at least appreciate that it's a major improvement from Elva.

I'm not a die hard fan, but I have all of their albums, and consider them to be descent. I think this fall in the same category. Its not the worlds best band/album, but it is catchy. It is a fine record, and nobody is going to die because they haven't "progressed." Apparently they like what they play, they know how to play that way, and I dont mind.

I was never a big UL fan, but I dug about 1/2 of Elva (guilty pleasure) and the s/t my friend bought at warped 98 was a pretty cool pop punk record ('sorry' is a very great fun song)

I'll second that comment. Wade was an essential part of this band, maybe even more so than original bassist John Bell. Wade tempered the rest of the band's pop/metal tendencies with his own punk influences, and hearing this album without him (even considering the contributions of the new drummer, who played with RFTC) shows the missing element. This just sounds like a metal band poorly trying to go pop

Thieves thanked for Green Day Grammy inspiration

Rockers Green Day owe the success of their Grammy-winning album American Idiot to thieves who stole the masters they were working on as their new project.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong admits the theft made him so angry he was inspired to write some of his best material, which led to the group being nominated for seven Grammys and picking up Best Rock Album on Sunday night.

He says, "It ended up being good because we were readying ourselves to go where we hadn't gone before."

The punk star was so annoyed he left his wife and kids for a month and went on a hate-filled bender to find fresh inspiration.

He adds, "I drank a lot of red wine, and vodka tonics. I was searching for something. I'm not sure it was the most successful trip."

On returning home, Armstrong caught TV news footage of the war in Iraq and decided to write an album full of songs about his feelings for modern America.

Bassist Mike Dirnt isn't fretting about the stolen tapes. In a message posted on the group's website, he wrote: "My only request is whoever's got those songs, if you put it out, put a decent cover on it."

Gusto was a great album. Although most of the songs weren't "punk" per say, they were still really catchy. Listen to "Footlong" and tell me it ain't catchy, you prissy bitches.

Unwritten Law has always sucked. That UFO-themed video they made was ridiculous.

This really is awful...I thought maybe it might grow on me like Elva did...but no...I cant even listen to this thing all the way through. Kind of like Guttermouth's Gusto...yeah its that bad.

is it really that awful? i havent heard much of it.. but i'm concerned, having been such a huge fan of elva and s/t as well.

When you listed the "big" names producer Sean Beaven worked with, you forgot to mention that he was behind the helm for "Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails. It isn't his fault this album isn't amazing...

Their self-titled was fucking great; Elva was fucking great; this is fucking shit. There's just nothing here anymore.

Did anyone watch them on Letterman tonight? So unbelievably boring. No charisma whatsoever. No one in that band cares that they're in that band.
