For those of you that don't know, the Effigies are the greatest punk rock/hardcore band to ever come out of Chicago. This career retrospective compiles all of their classic songs onto one disc, making it an essential purchase for any fan of punk music. Not only does this band write great songs, but they know how to play them as well. The Effigies are very gifted and creative musicians, as there are a variety of different musical influences present on this album, yet it all seems to fit nicely together.

articles of Faith also rule, this is a really really great Album from the Effigies...i bought it second hand and I was surprised how good the songs are,...very great Everything I've heard from this band has been great. I still mostly know about them from that cute little feud they had with AoF though. One of the best midwest bands of the 1980s. Heck, of any punk decade! Along with Naked Raygun, Zero Boys, Toxic Reasons, and NOTA, the Effigies were great. This record is a nice collection of their songs, avoiding the later, weaker "Fly on the Wire" stuff. I think this, or the "Haunted Town" 12" and "We're Da Machine" 12"s are the essential Effigies to track down. for those of you wondering....i like to keep reviews short and to the point. I'd rather say what I'm gonna say in a paragraph rather than bullshitting my way through 4 of them. This album rocks. Short, but as long as the word gets out I'm cool with it. There's not one second on this CD I don't love. I was able to get a ripped CD of their other two LPs and the live 7", and they totaly deserve reissue. Great, more post-punk stuff. Effigy eh? Nothin' burns like an effigy! this is a really great record: We´ll be here tomorrow and Mob Clash are also great songs, forget it, every song is great on this disc Very long review. |
