I have always been a Goldfinger fan. In fact, they were one of the only mid-90's ska-punk bands that I actually found apealing. Their debut album was packed full with catchy choruses, a tasteful variety of tempos and some solid, but not over the top production qualities. It had such an impact on me at the time that I knew I would be a supporter of their music for the long haul.

Goldfinger kicks ass, they rock, love the dudes wow this cd is lucky enough to get a 1 for "my everything." even that song is just mediocore. And just to comment to what someone said below there is no need for animal testing in today’s society there are so many other ways of making new drugs that are much more reliable Hi All i don't care weather or not it's an ok album i see most of you hate goldfinger for this album. "Or some people want to be IN with todays fads and not eat meat" I think this album is amazing. It's totally not the goldfinger from years ago, but do they have to be? a band can change styles and goldfinger did. this cd is more pop than punk, so for fans of the albums hang-ups and goldfinger this might be a very bad album. but it's just catchy, happy and very relaxed music! :) so stop saying this album sucks. you just don't like it because you are all to limited in your musical tastes. I couldn't disagree more with most of these reviews. I think this album is amazing. "Ocean Size" and "Damaged" are two of the best songs I've heard in a while. All the song's flow nicely together. As for the song "Faith", it's one of my favorites off the album. So all you people that don't like this album need to get a life. It is their 5th full length. This score is for the song "Get By". Thanks to the guy who posted the link to this mp3. That song is WAAAAAAYYYYYY better than anything on the new cd. I thought this was their 5th full-length? and to the guy giving us the mp3 links, thanks! not sure if the songs are any good, but that was cool of you. "Damn. I hadn't noticed that before. I would never even attempt to compare the two bands. The US cd doesn't include the bonus tracks, so you can get them here ive seen them 5 times live. The first time, they headlined and were fantastic. That was the 2001 uk tour in june I've always heard that Goldfinger is really good live. That's strange because their live DVD FUCKING SUCKS!!! Horrible setlist, way too short, disgusting twinkie joke thing involving that guys ass??? Maybe some people think that jokes like that make them a good live band but I sure don't. And Mest's logo is identical, but in Red. theres a hint Damn. I hadn't noticed that before. I would never even attempt to compare the two bands. Amazing that nobody has noticed that Goldfinger's new album rips off the Gorilla Biscuits logo... check the bottom review for proof. "I actually had to check the disc sleeve to see if it was a Good Charlotte B-side." well I've had about 5 listens of the new album and have formed my opinion. Then consider yourself a non-conformist. Punk Rock! Or some people want to be IN with todays fads and not eat meat good point benjasaurus. Plus a person's choice to go vegan is not always entirely dependent on Animal Rights. Somepeople do not agree with the meat industry and do not wish to give them their money. others are against the pollution caused by the meat industry and others simply do not want to eat food that's shot up with steroids and loaded with anti-biotics. "Vegans do suck. I shouldn't know you eat meat or not. Just like you don't need to know that I don't eat chocolate or drink coffee and think Fribbles are the universe's way of rewarding us good people. Vegans do suck. I shouldn't know you eat meat or not. Just like you don't need to know that I don't eat chocolate or drink coffee and think Fribbles are the universe's way of rewarding us good people. here's a better one. sorry, wrong link Darrin and Kelly, please leave and start a new band, away form these shitheads. Alot of people would love you guys if you did i that. We love you that much I wouldn't say that they own all bands live, but they are very good live. "talk all the shit you want, but live goldfinger owns pretty much every band around"- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's the stupidest shit I've ever heard. talk all the shit you want, but live goldfinger owns pretty much every band around. Vegans suck. Goldfinger...i wanna be your stalker "1 cover album? what the fuck was that?" 1 cover album? what the fuck was that? Wow, he really is dead. Time for Mailer to follow suit. Hunter Fucking Thompson is dead, and these idiots are still putting out albums. This world fucking hates me. As a long time Goldfinger fan, I know what it's like listening to this album. I think this review is 100% right on, right down to the individual songs. "Wasted" and "Faith" are quite possibly the worst Goldfinger songs ever released, but there are a few rare instances of that old GF magic. The production on some of the songs is really great ("Damaged" comes to mind) but some of the songwriting is just awful. this band is so over-rated. i prefer ashlee simpson. haha, i thought that was john feldman on the ashlee simpson show too. it isnt though. just some douche. the vitriol and loathing of john feldman and goldfiner has reached astronomical peaks and inexplicable heights as from my analysis of the comments below. "[21:41] TheFightToLive: brian... brian.......... *is self-righteous This score is for the pushy, in your face, holier than thou, hardcore scene parasites at PETA. haha, i thought that was john feldman on the ashlee simpson show too. it isnt though. just some douche. [21:41] TheFightToLive: brian... brian.......... i saw john feldman on the ashlee simpson show "bet you've never even seen a horse in your life, eh?" Electric love hogs "goldfinger and veganism aside, FUCK PETA. "Their previous full-length, Open Your Eyes, definately showed signs of a slight turn more towards pop-punk. Many of the songs on that record would not have sounded out of place on a Good Charlotte record. That in itself was more than some fans could handle. Personally, however, it didn't bother me much because I had coincidentally switched to a vegan diet around the same time it was released. Honestly, my excitement about their new animal rights message helped me look past the few somewhat weak moments on that disc." Fuck LA was a great song, but as for the rest of this band's music, it can go fuck itself. I fucking hate John Feldman that stupid twanked out piece of horse shit. It's sad how most of the bands that came up with goldfinger hate their guts now because of what they've become. I fuckin hope you rot in hell john, you fucking assmaster. "This is a very well-written album, and it a LOT better than the mainstream crap out now like Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, and Taking Back Sunday." "This record is awesome. This record is awesome. I may not agree with brandon's musical tastes, but he has some fucking good points about animal rights. Good review, shat album. Don't eat the tuna...there might be dolphins caught in the net. Well, what about the fuckin' tuna? even broccoli screams when you rip it out of the ground... measuring human animal life against other non-human animal life is all a matter of moral values and priorities. I can think of plenty of people whose live's are completely worthless and the whole "just because they are human" argument means shit to me. If it's alive, judge it as you would judge anyone. I can think of plenty of politicians I'd happily do away with to save any living thing....hell even a tree. This score is for PETA, one of the few voices in the animal rights movement that actually makes a difference these days. Name one other organization or person that has done even a fraction of what PETA has done (and the ALF doesn't count). This is 100% crap. Pack it in John, you're career is over. I have been a big Goldfinger fan for a long time, but this album is horrible and this animal rights stuff is so lame. A human life is more important than the life of an animal. Antibiotics and many other important productst that help to saves lives are here because of animal testing. .. This album is HORRIBLE!!!!!! just because some shitty bands and some whinney people promote animal rights doesn't make it "lame".....unless you're a hardcore Christian (they believe only humans feel pain or have souls), then by all means you'd have to agree all creatures deserve the right not to suffer. I'm not saying that there's something wrong with eating animals for food, but in today's society we only need so much...and there are far too many fat fucks over-eating and chowing down shit that they DON'T NEED. I say, eat fish....eat chicken....just lay off the red meat, needless death is, well, needless. You can argue it, but you'd be wrong. Haha, I mean this REVIEW is not harsh enough, not this album. =P This album is not harsh enough. I bought this album because I love Goldfinger and have followed them since the beginning. But this piece of crap hardly justifies even the free autographed book, sticker and buttons I received with the pre-order. What's so bad about Peta? Sure they're pushy but they've also uncovered alot of pretty horrible atrocities ranging from inhumane and completely unnecessary animal testing to acts of indecency towards poultry and cattle. Hey but whatever, you're the ones eating that shit. self titled is a great album and hang-ups is up there too I still listen to both of them...stomping ground has its moments and I actually bought open your eyes and I have listened to it once all the way through and never gotten around to listening to it again...fuck ted nugent is catchy and so is spokesman but thats about it john feldmann should do listen to denis leary's "meat" goldfinger and veganism aside, FUCK PETA. just got done seeing them at the TLA in Philly. they still put on one hell of a show. This score is for PETA, one of the few voices in the animal rights movement that actually makes a difference these days. Name one other organization or person that has done even a fraction of what PETA has done (and the ALF doesn't count). Rice Dream!!? It's all about Soy-Delicious. really, did you have to post anonymously, Scott... I can't believe I'm going to admit this, but in 1997 I traded The self titled Operation Ivy CD for the ST Goldfinger cd. That's like trading Led Zeplin 2 for a William Hung . Post away, I deserve it. I'm going to eat a steak in honor of this band sucking and poke a bunny in the eye because its funny. You're all stupid as goldfinger. i remember going to a Slapstick show and me and my buddies started talking to these two girls. they told us to check out Goldfinger. they seemed to know their shit so we did. i remember only liking a song called "mabel." we saw them open a show for Gods Reflex a little later on. they had a massive amount of guitars on stage w/ them. and some dude who tuned those guitars for them. he also would bring them water. it left a bad taste in my mouth. i really don't care for this band or feldmann. i'm all for a band experimenting w/ new sounds and growing musically however i have no respect for a band who changes their sound based on what is the flavor of the day. As much as it hurts me to say this, being that I really loved Hang-Ups, maybe its time Goldfinger called it a day. John can then eat tofu and Rice Dream while producing Mest and Story of the Year albums until his retirement, and the other 3 can go back to doing whatever they did before. As a fan of goldfinger, this album sucks ass. i bet they even sounded better when they were a red hot chili peppers rip off. i'd call them sellouts but they were always sellouts, but before they did a good job ripping off good epitaph bands....now they just rip off good charlotte. i hope john feldman gets eaten by a tiger. What's sad is this band has always had the potential to write a great pop-punk album, yet instead of realizing that potential they always seem to take steps in the wrong direction. I listened to this cd while I got road head from my lover than we went and ate some vegan steak at our favorite vegan resturant, I also had my salad tossed and listened to it at home while we drank wine and made out, not a bad cd this band fell off the deep end after hangups. this band fucking SUCKS BALLS. if you seriously are into them you are severly limiting yourself. there is a whole beautiful world of music out there that doesnt include this kind of hackneyed, aged bullshit. attack. i just want to point out that the top review this week was goldfinger. last wee it was unwritten law. thats kind of funny. Cory Feldmann and the lackeys? Didn't know he had a punk band. I really liked the self titled cd. They never were a pure ska band, but elements of ska were clearly evident on their first few records. Listen to Hang Ups again. goldfinger was -not- ska. never was. This band has always been shitty I just listened to every Goldfinger album from S/T to Open Your Eyes in chronological order on my 4 hour drive back up to school. It's amazing how far this band has fallen. I won't be picking this one up. This album does suck ass-poop, but all those other low scores probably made the album cry. I have to agree with sickboi, even though Feldman and the Lackeys is, in truth, what Goldfinger is. Oh, and shit. They're shit too. The frontman is usually the voice for the band. Sorry, but in all the bands I've been in, I'd never let the frontman spout out shit I didn't believe in. Otherwise, they should change their name to "Feldman and the Lackeys". sickboi - no, they have the right to call the frontman a vegan. Not the entire band. He's the one with the mic, so he's the one that gets to voice HIS opinion. And don't say "the other guys have mics and could say something" because it doesn't work that way with John Feldmann. If Darrin were to say "eat what you want" the shit would hit the fan. Peace. Everybody's happy. Incidentally, I just had that bowel movement. And, even though it was kind of painful, my labors produced a chunk-style caserole of choclatey, scab filled goodness. My lips are still brown from the huffing tube. Have fun, dude. lol PS: When I'm through with the bowel movement, I'm gonna get in a 1/2 somersault position, beat off, and shoot cum into my own mouf. Stu, Hi, Buddy. PS: Apologies accepted, Stewart. Now, rock some Sum 41 and chill out. I'm amazed at your level of intellect. I will aspire the rest of my life to be just like you. If only I could have a true understanding of what constitutes "punk" like you do, I'd be set. I'm such a pitiful person for submitting an honest review of a band that has entertained me for years to this site and allowing myself to get insulted by someone who insulted my motives. Please forgive me. Terrible. This is Goldfinger scraping the bottom of their creative toilet. remember when this band used to be good? he gave the cd a 4 out of 10 Well, Stewart, maybe we should arrange to duke it out in "the pit" at the next Goldfinger show at the House of Blues? Bad bad bad. Goldfiger was never good. They could be considered mediocre about 3 CDs ago, but now... I don't even know where to start. I hope John Feldman is just fucking with all of his fans to see how much bullshit he can produce and still make money. "singing the praises of goldginer" The internet is a wonderfull thing isn't it? Where else could you talk smack directly to someone you do not know and will never have to defend yourself physically? YOU FUCKIN' CHUMP! Well, Stewart, your angry reply certainly had the "intensity" of Goldfinger. If you bought that shit, you've even a bigger chump than I'd previously thought. Instead, you should be getting into the "unbound political righteousness" of Good Charlotte. Oh yeah, in my anger I forgot to sign my last post: The reviewer uses the terms "Intensity and excitement" to refer to Goldfinger? Dag, this review simply HAS to be a parody. "The "quality" of reviewers on this site is beyond laughable. Once again, Punknews.org has found some kid who is so thrilled to get one fucking free CD that they'll give it a great review." i just dont know anymore.... that song behing the mask really annoys the piss out of me with all that added bullshit.... even broccoli screams when you rip it out of the ground...i dont have a problem with the life style but i bought the cd for the music; not to hear that shit....i really only enjoy a few songs on the album like the first but others just suck ass. I will always be a GF fan but i would rather be listening to hang ups or the s/t... Well, apparently you're part of the "staff" at punknews.org. So how about giving us some info on how you go about selecting your reviewers? Better yet, how about defending the quality of the reviews on this site? The "quality" of reviewers on this site is beyond laughable. Once again, Punknews.org has found some kid who is so thrilled to get one fucking free CD that they'll give it a great review. This site claims to be a "punk" site and then publishes a review that sings the praises of Goldfinger? goldfinger hasn't released anything worthwhile of an entire album since their self titled. i probably will never listen to this record, and am unleashing all of my other goldfinger albums. Well, I doubt that many people will disagree that Goldfinger is a horrible, or at least cookie-cutter band. What I'm wondering here is, was that review honest, or was that one of the best examples sarcasm I've ever seen? I mean, that comment about sticking with Goldfinger because the reviewer had also recently gone vegan as well? THAT'S TOO FUNNY and could've been a skit on Saturday Night Live. (I am not dissing PETA or vegans by saying this.) Another hilarious line: "I have always been a Goldfinger fan." Retard 2 below.... I spelled a few words wrong in this review: I don't like this album at all. I have been listening to Goldfinger for around 8 years now, and this is easily my least liked album. There is just nothing on it that appeals to me. I listened to this album and was amazed that they could make an album worse than Open Your Eyes. Fuck Goldfinger, fuck them up their stupid asses. i gave up on these guys so long ago, which is a shame, cause they used to be a guilty pleasure. then, they managed to suck so much that they even got dropped from that title. This is really crappy, and i didn't mind Open Your Eyes. i too had a beef sandwich. corned. with brie cheese. it was deliscious. i too had a beef sandwich. corned. with brie cheese. it was deliscious. enough with the good charlotte comments in your review. they're not even that big anymore. as for this band, i was a huge fan of them back in the day. that first one was solid gold, but i agree, they did go down hill after charlie left. oh, and also simon. oh well. we'll always have mabel. John Feldman wouldn't like me because I had a beef sandwhich for dinner. I don't know what to say....all these years I thought Scott was a hopeless fat-a-holic...but he's actually a vegan now? This band blows and always has. These guys are pushin, what, 40 years old now and stlil playing pop-punk? I wouldn't mind it if they were called, um, the DESCENDENTS, but they're not even in the same league. I saw the score and read the first line of the review, I've already decided I won't be buying this. I've been trying to enjoy this album, but really the only 2 songs that have really got me are Ocean Size and Uncomfortable. How did this review not mention Stalker? That song is just...is it supposed to be funny or something? Cause it's just cheesy and horrible. The lyrics on this cd are just so bad. I'd probably still go see Goldfinger if they came here just cause it'd be a fun show, but this cd...no. i never got this band. when i was 18 or 19 (1996?) they played detroit for the first time with less than jake and i was unmoved. the last time i saw them play live they opened for sum 41 and i was kind of bothered about how they went from what i rememebr as a fun party band to being asses about the whole PETA thing and being sxe. don't get me wrong i love a lot of bands who tour with Peta people and who are sxe but they don't feel the need to beat an uncaring public over the head with it. face it goldfinger's target audience is nad always has been 15 year old kids. kids who aren't going ot base thier life on a shitty pop-punk band. fuck these guys I hate this album, but i cant stop listening to it, its catchy as hell. but its not good, no ska punk, or even pop punk for that matter, its pop shit. The three kinda good songs are behind the mask, uncomfortable, and I want. The rest sucks, all filler in my opinion. After reading their review in AP I expected much much better. i didn't bother to read this review Screw these suckers. Their music has never been good, but now it's awful. Score is for Ingrid Newkirk. "Disconnection Notice" is better as a Sonic Youth song. wow, great honest review. this band died once charlie left |
