There are so many things wrong with this record I don't even know where to begin. How about with the pink Cthuloid creature on the cover with a fairy wand and crown? Cthulu is an Ancient! He wears no fairy crown! Neither do the creatures inspired by him! Next, the band name/album title are just horr.

There are so many things wrong with this record I don't even know where to begin. How about with the pink Cthuloid creature on the cover with a fairy wand and crown? Cthulu is an Ancient! He wears no fairy crown! Neither do the creatures inspired by him! Next, the band name/album title are just horrible in general. Finally, if there is one thing I hate more than whiny bullshit lyrics that are "dark" and "brooding," it's "dark" and "brooding" lyrics sang by a tiny girl with a cutesy voice over the crappiest and wussiest screamo accompaniment. It's like listening to your little sister joining a metal band and trying to rock. You know, the one who's 13 and has posters of pop stars lining her walls. Unless, of course, your little sister is Patti Smith, Mo Tucker, or Chrissie Hynde.

Every song is the same. Something like "there is a monster inside me," or "will I make it through the day?" for the chorus. NEWSFLASH: your life doesn't suck. Obviously you have enough money to buy your equipment, a record label has decided to put out your record, and I'm sure you have tons of fat teenage girls that live in your hometown who love you. Come back after you've spent a few years on Welfare and have crack burns on your thighs because your pimp thinks you been holding out on him.

This band is about one degree away from being cutesy indie pop, and God knows how much I hate cutesy indie pop. These kids need a heaping serving of Black Sabbath. Maybe "Sweet Leaf" will show them that metal is all about slaving yourself away to drugs, not sweetly singing about there being a metaphorical monster inside. That is, unless she got knocked up by Satan, in which the monster wouldn't be metaphorical, and the band would be sweet. But that is not the case, and this band sucks.

(OTT are hardly the first band to write out of sadness. Name me some bands that have only positive lyrics?)

Good clean fun?

to quote chapelle's show,
"get out of my courtroom you,,,,,FUCK"

anyone who says they suck lick balls and are ass ramming ass rammers... i wonder if any of you have actually listened to them.. and while her work on the FATA CD's was in fact better than this there are still quite a few good songs on here..

heres some funny shit though...

All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax fucks who are making that movie, we're gonna make 'em eat our shit, then shit out our shit, then eat their shit which is made up of our shit that we made 'em eat. Then you're all you motherfucks are next

How much credence can you give to a person who writes a review on a band in a genre which he admits he doesnt like?

I hate country music. Put a Garth Brooks record in my hand and ask me to write a review, and it would probably not be too favorable either.

The difference is, as a writer I would attempt to give the reader a clear picture of the music whether I liked it or not. It's too easy to bash something. It takes more intelligence and writing skills to be able to review something out of your comfortable element.

You should have started off the review by stating that this is not a genre of music you like, then proceed to review the record given that circumstance. A good writer will allow the reader to determine for themselves if this is a record they want to hear. Describe the record. Who they sound like? The mix?

You're comments on the cover of the CD, as well as the lyrical content (OTT are hardly the first band to write out of sadness. Name me some bands that have only positive lyrics?) are amateurish at best.

Brooding and dark? Did you listen to "Who's Amazing" or "In a Whisper"? Obviously not. And where do you hear any screamo? Did you even play the CD?

This band is indie pop/ pop punk/ emo, and deserves to be compared to other like bands. You sound more like one of those FATA fans who thought that the female vocals on their CD's ruined the machismo appeal.

Reviews are taken with a grain of salt. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But there are ways to go about it, without making yourself look the fool.

that whole monster being satan line was pretty funny

Kenjamin (March 7, 2005)

Dude that boss tuner is so crucial. I'd trade all my pedals to keep that. Also, if this band sounded anything like Discount it would equate to redeeming qualities.

LMChc (March 6, 2005)

One question: why is it wrong to judge someone by their lyrics?

I'd certainly do it with a white power band. Why not a screamo band?

Second question: what is wrong with judging a band by their lyrics? That's prettymuch half the musical equation.

FishBulb (March 6, 2005)

one of the dudes in this band works at guitar center and gave me a sweet deal on a boss pedal tuner. this score is for that transaction.

slippy (March 6, 2005)

Fuck

Jesse (March 6, 2005)

Fuck you for misspelling judging and using and "x" in lyrics.

Anonymous (March 6, 2005)

Well I'm glad you took the time to write about my band. A band you know nothing about. Fuck you for judgign us by our lyrix.

IdiotParanoia (March 5, 2005)

They sound a bit like Discount

Jesse (March 5, 2005)

Hey buddy ?? that's not my name. C'mon, it's even spelled out on the same page. No "i". It's not that difficult, people.

slippy (March 5, 2005)

I love you Jessie.

Anonymous (March 4, 2005)

I've hated this band for a while.
Score's for the H.P. Lovecraft Reference.

This stuff isn't that bad...& yes, she has a nice voice. Typical indie-cum-scenester female vocals, it seems, but still nice to listen to.

She was in an old LI band called Scarab, they had this 1 song that ruled the school.

Josiah (March 4, 2005)

i really enjoy melanie's voice....more so on "short stories with tragic endings" than on anything she's done with her band, but still...

Anonymous (March 4, 2005)

"Come back after you've spent a few years on Welfare and have crack burns on your thighs because your pimp thinks you been holding out on him. " Jesse, you're a cock, but that was pretty good. Cheers.

Anchors (March 4, 2005)

Phil Anselmo would slay this band if he ever heard them, just on principle. And he would use a broadsword. You can't slay with something pussy like dagger or rapier, so a broadsword it is.

Score's for broadswords.

LMChc (March 4, 2005)

Play the Assassin Records must be rockin' a high insanity score to reissue this rubbish...
