I don’t really like to be bored. Does anyone? It’s worse when the majority of a once tolerable genre begins to put everyone to sleep. While Pensacola, Florida’s own Glory Of This haven’t exactly created an abomination of an album, Adoration will no doubt feel about three hours in length to almost anyone that listens to it.

An immediate comparison I can make is to No Wings To Speak Of-era Hopesfall. The riffs that make up Adoration are more melodic than standard metalcore fair, but are also much less interesting than the typical metalcore band, plodding along at a medium pace for almost the entire duration of the album. You’ve got a double-bass drum part here, a weak breakdown there, and alternating scream-sing vocals to boot. Doesn’t sound too interesting, correct? Indeed. Granted, some of the music is all right to listen to, but each song feels about ten minutes long, for they lack any sense of catchiness. Sometimes, the band gets so lame and melodic that they sound like the bastard child of Underoath and Taking Back Sunday; see track five, “Fragile House Of Cards,” for the biggest offender of this - it’s downright cringeworthy.

The most ironic part is that the first track to be found here, “The Fear That Gave Me Wings,” is actually a pretty stellar hardcore song, with some machine-gun riffing and a curiously strong, melodic chorus. If the band could hold up the momentum found in the kickoff track for the entire album, we wouldn’t have a problem. Instead, we are treated to such trash like “Flip For It,” with its excessively bad sung parts, and “Loose Lips Sink Ships,” which features some awkward screaming, which is, unlike the rest, found here. It’s much more sludge metal-sounding, which doesn’t fit well with the melodic nature of the music.

This is a very juvenile release from Glory Of This. It is almost blatantly obvious that they are following trends found in modern hardcore music, making this release nearly painful to listen to. I suggest that this band go back to the drawing board and try a new approach to making music. They’re young enough, so it would be in their best interest. I highly doubt that many of you would like this. Indianola has released some quality albums in the past, but Adoration is not one of them. Avoid this.

Oh and btw, to the guy who said something about bad brains. Bad Brains isn't even hardcore you ignorant little fuck. Bad Brains is like, everything. But more closer to punk. You're right, hardcore didn't start with any of those bands. But who gives a fuck how shit started. It matters whats good or not. Glory of This could be more hardcore but then they wouldn't be Glory of This. This is the new mellinium you dumb piece of shit. Shit changes. You can't be stuck with hardcore punk forever. If you don't like them the go download more old shit if you're fucking stuck in the 80s.

They fucking kick ass, ive been to parties with them n shit and there fun. If you turn on there music they will walk out tho its wierd. I really dont like alot of Hardcore anything, the screaming usually makes me wanna throw up, but not from them its good shit. it's reviews like this that make me lose respect for punknews.. i really do like this band.. they remind me at times of Poison The Well who are one of my favorite bands. sure the lyrics/ vocal harmonies can be a bit sketchy at times, but it's still a good release.

for fans of Across Five Aprils, Poison The Well etc.

Seriously, I don't understand what all the fuzz is all about? I can see if some people think this band doesn't experiment enough or whatever, but this is well played melodic hardcore, nothing wrong.
This beats the hell out of alot of the new hardcore-cd's around, stop whining. Glory of this does it better than most of you messageboard-fuckers.

i'm not gonna score this cause i'm in the band. and i appreciate that you guys don't like it. but sadly for some of you out there who just love to hate trendy christians. we're not a christian band and none of us are fashionable. so this is probably just gonna get you guys talking crap. i just wanted to settle the debate. not all bands that play melodic hardcore wear fuckin girl pants. i hate that shit as much as anyone else if not more. so. word up. if you think it sucks that's fine. just know that stereotypes blow ass.

i cant think of anything less hardcore than this band. i'm willing to bet money none of them own a bad brains album. note to kids who like this shit: hardcore didnt begin with earth crisis, and it certainly didnt begin with atreyu, hopesfall or any of the other bands that probably own shirts that say "fighting. moshing. good hair" in fact, those bands arent even remotely hardcore. fuck, florida sucks.
