I just love the guy who takes the attitude of "I hate Christians and all their music."
I'm a Christian but it's not like I go, I hate all AGNOSTIC bands becuase they're stupid for NOT believing in a God.....

You just gotto learn to appreciate music as a whole, Mae don't preach the message do they?

All you who just keep on saying it's 'gay' are just being unfair, just because it oozes with sweet melodies and lacks the use of a crunch/ distortion guitar with metal growl vocals, you call it gay?

Get back to your tuff guys hardcore, which by the way DID have some gay figures in the early 80s DCHC scene!......does that make it gay?

This is a great album, yes maybe they are 'emo' but each some structure takes you in unexpected turns, an interesting album and definitly not gay.

I hope some people come across reading this because I think it's really important. I listened to Mae like once or twice when destination beautiful came out...and just thought it was kind of boring and crappy, so that was the end of that. My freind showed me The Everglow about 3 months ago, and my opinion on this band has changed more dramatically than any band has ever changed my mind. Although i still dont like "destination beautiful" Mae has reinvented themselves and they even say in an interview that they consider the everglow to be their first band effort. I'm not going to get into detail, because most of you people will probably not understand it or want to experience what I think and feel and see in this album, but I'm telling you that this album is sooo much more than music. Mae is on to something that is really going to take the world by storm once people allow themselves to open up their minds. When I first listened to the Everglow, I was overwhelmed by the things i felt and the saw while listening...i thought i was kind of crazy, it sometimes put me in like a hypnotic state. The other night while i was bored surfing the web, i came across some interviews and bios on the band. What i found shocked me...i didn't even know what Mae stood for before last night (multisensory aesthetic experience). Anyway i highly suggest that if you are in touch with your senses and unconcius mind that you read up on the science behind mae's music and experience what happens with this album for yourself. it's just amazing. amazing.

An intro and closer are important, but not so much that they would ruin a 15 song record. Both those parts are integral to the concept though, so I suppose if you found them too much to handle, than it could lower the score a bit...

But still as someone else said, sally was almost completely vague about the meat of the record. I've found the songs imporve the later in the song order.

Not a very trustworthy review. Oh well.

Suspension!!! Yes Yes Yes!!! Great Album!!!

I beg to differ with the persons comment about "the everglow" being too much i can only suspect she has not enough staying power for something so deep and so beautiful, the piano is turned up a lot more on this album and after seeing them live supporting coheed and cambria on tour last week i can see why. they are amazing and deserve a lot more recognition than they recieve. go buy it now, with the poetic words of the "sun and the moon" i was almost brought to tears. this is a masterpiece and on of a kind.

I do not believe in a higher power, and I have no problem at all loving this album. I love consept (spelling?)-albums, and the music on this is so good. Painless and The Ocean are ridicously catchy without being cheesy.

i actually do enjoy the album, and everyone can disagree to this and comment about how i have shitty taste in music, but that would be absolutely false..

I think just because a band falls into the category of "emo" does not automatically places them in the situation in which their music is horrible. People should learn to appreciate the art of music.. there are many genres, just because one doesn't fall into your preference does not mean it should get ripped apart.

Yes i am a girl, and mayhaps it has a lot to do with my interest in mae, but i also enjoy bands such as Bane, Less than Jake, Monty's Fan Club...

The comments on this have had pretty much nothing to do with this CD. Last time I checked, the review was about an (albeit) poor record, not absolutepunk.net.

this review sucked. too short.

the album itself has a few good songs, but the intro and outro could stand to go as well as the first track. "anything" is a stand out track, but that's about it. this band neither went forward with their sound, nor backwards. they just stayed where they were.

i found this used (already) at the store accross the street from me (bonus location) so i got it for 5 bucks.

ehh. pretty gay emo stuff. really. tracks 3 and 4 are both real good after that it just kinda all sounds the same, the songs are all too long (average about 4:30...too long in my book) and they need to bring some more balls/rock.

i did see them live at a free show at Pitt a few weeks ago, and i will say they were good live. very proficient musicians and the singer sounds good. but even live they are pretty boring, no energy and way to gayly emo.

On the first listen i foudn this CD slow and boring. But i gave it a couple more chances and now i think it is outstanding. One of my favorite recent CD's considering the shit that bands i used to like have put out the last year or 2
